in a big surprise, Billy Donovan accepts the offer to coach the Orlando Magic. I think this will be a bust, because like Coach K, Roy Williams, Rick Pitino, and Rick Barnes, Donovan's style suits college basketball only. it won't work in the nba.
wow Lebron is just taking OVER

despite the best efforts of Mike Brown
Lebron wins the game for the Cavs
Seriously one of the best performances I've ever seen in the playoffs. Simply incredible!
WOWZERS!
All for the right to be swept by the Spurzzzz
cavs steal game 5. they defintaely were not supposed to win this game, after their performance outside of bron, but bron refused to lose.
I hate when people say this, but that really was Jordanesque.
close. like jordan, he basically carried the team on his back, and made sure his team wouldn't lose this game. this is a critical game, because they play the next 2 games in 4 days with one day rest inbetween. fatigue is definately going to play a factor in game 6.
awesome, awesome game

I've known Lebron has been the best player in the league for the past two seasons, I decided this before the start of LAST season, 2005-2006...(only because of his Fantasy bball play)
if he beats the pistons, he's DEFINATELY best player in NBA...
he beats the fuckin SPurs...
LEBRON > JORDAN
yeah I said it, its the fucking CAVS!!?!?!?!?!?!
that team is shit without him...

| Originally posted by inconspicuous um, it was the fucking BULLS?!?!?!?!?!?! Jordan NEVER had a good center, and before he came back from retirement, his teams were always mediocre, at best. Yes, he had Pippen, but Pippen was only good because of Jordan, and even then, he was just above average. Nobody else on those early teams was any good. Now, the later ones, with Pippen, Rodman, Ron Harper, Kerr, & Kukoc...those were the best ever, imo, but that's not how Jordan started, and Lebron hasn't won 72 games, last time I checked, not to mention 6 championships, never missing the playoffs, and being a perennial 1st team defensive player. |
you forgot bill cartwright aka the man with the ugliest shot in nba history.

Best part was having Marve Albert announcing all of Jordan's old games, and now he is announcing LeBron's. What a wicked combo.
Mr. James put on a clinic last night after the Cavs failed to pull a head at the end of the fourth. Cleveland did a good job of shutting down Detroit during the first three minutes of the 4th, which allowed James to rest, and come back to a tied game.
James then allowed the rest of the team to play as they may, and try to get some buckets, to no avail. It was the right time to take over and the Pistons were helpless.
Monster jams, unreal lay ups, fade away three's(!?)...he did it all.
All hail King James.
As for the comparisons, you must wait till the end of his career, otherwise nobody measures up. Greatness should be based on results and not potential, otherwise we would have a lot more Jordan's out there.

I definitely think he has the skills to be up there with Jordan...but that's almost impossible to live up to, and he hasn't even won a championship yet--let alone going 3 in a row twice. Last night was the only such one he's had in his career, also. Yes, it's a huge deal, but Jordan dropped 40+ so many times in huge games, it almost became commonplace.
i am not ready to mark lebron in the top 5 nba players yet. he still has some room for improvement, such as his defense, his ability to make the shot while being fouled(jordan was known for always doing this. getting the "and 1" all the time), getting to the line more(he's really improved on this the past 2 years. the years before that, he was getting to the line 6 to 8 times a game. now it's 9 to 11), and his free throw percentage(his career is hovering in the lower 70s. jordan's career is in the lower 80s, and in his prime was in the mid 80s). if lebron can up his % to the upper 70s to lower 80s, that's acceptable.

Before Lebron was on the team they were nobodys. Couldnt advance to the playoffs and didnt have anyone else worth mentioning. They actually still dont have anyone else worth mentioning and they're 1 game away from the NBA Finals!!!! I find that pretty remarkable for a 3rd year player to take an entire team and go this far in this short of time. |
