Thats much better imo. I can't stand facing a wall. I think tjpatel on here has Van Gogh's painting of the Cafe scene at night in front of his decks.

Personally I like them facing an area where people hang out/chill whenever possible.

That mixer looks similar as the DJM800's from the picture.

The key difference is the DJM800 has 4 channels, whereas the mixer that's pictured has 5 channels.

I mounted a tv and sometimes set winamp to play visualizations from the line in into my computer, its pretty awesome and is a lot more entertaining for other people if they are in the room with me. Of course, this is not a cheap option

I have the same thing going on with winamp at my place but it plays on two monitors in the room, its for when people come over

What's the advantage of having both CDJ's and a Computer/Vinyl interface? Just curious...and jealous.

Posted by stan229 on Mar-06-2008 17:16:

I personally got sick of burning cds because I did 1track/release per cd and burning them at 4x is a pain in the ass

I don't have either but knew it was a matter of time before I got a pair of cdj's until I learned about timecode vinyl. Now I know for sure I'll never get cdj's, when I have money to tap into my vast mp3 collection of vinyl rips I'm definitely going with Serato.

I say if you don't already have turntables or any vinyls and are not already committed one way or the other, then it's just a matter of preference whether you go with cdj's or vinyl. But if you don't have cdj's yet and either prefer working with vinyls or are already invested with your turntables then it just makes more sense to me to go with something like Serato and go nuts with the mp3's. Burning cd after cd would just suck cuz I like organization and would probably do individual cd's like stan229 did.

Plus going with Serato would be cheaper because if i got cdj's I'd want to get quality = $$$

Thanks for the replies. Yah, I've always just been a bit confused. There's a lot of really gorgeous set-ups on here, a handful of which have had both CDJ's and Serato setup (and even sometimes Ableton), and I've wondered if the owner was a gear junkie (which I can totally be sometimes...) or whether they really had an musical reason for owning both.

I posted these in the producing forum as well..

The expanding process has started, I got my audiofire12 today , so time for pictures!

* Old amd2500+ pc. Quad core arriving tomorrow
* old evolution midi keyboard

* A little behringer monitor mixer. I hate it but it's handy for the headphone.
* Echo audiofire12 (fucking great beast )
* Behringer ultrapatch for future gear and additions. Already handy now with some routing stuff.

cdj800's with an ugly behringer mixer.

Soon more expanding to be expected. New pc tomorrow, probably a synth in about a month or 3 and dynaudio air6's after summer.

congrats on echo audiofire, the most awesome soundcard out dare (compared to price).

What are it's main benefits?

Just curious.

Posted by Zak McKracken on Mar-08-2008 04:42:

the sound compared to the price imo and the drivers are very stabile.

It's quality is very good. Up there with the well known professional sond cards. It has 24 channels. 12in, 12 out. The routing system is amazingly simple (compared to other cards I've seen).

This is the company that printed the post... you can get a fairly good idea of what it looks like.. http://nmrdist.com/nmrdistribution/...emart&Itemid=45

As for organizing... I spin mainly psy.. Its all in one folder, and I just sort it out in Serato, Alphabetical (by Artist)..
