I never said they were good, just saying they are buying up everyone they can.

yup, too bad no Manny or Soriano or Baez to the Mets

One sports store in Washington Heights (where Manny grew up) still went ahead and made and sold some Manny Mets jerseys though, before the deadline
http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...4p-284698c.html

as for the competition, their bullpens are stronger-
Braves got Kyle Farnsworth
Marlins got Ron Villone
It'll be interesting to see how Cubs do after getting Nomar, Wood (going to the bullpen), and Scott Williamson back. They also got Matt Lawton from Pirates

meanwhile, Mets have the return of Trachsel and Kaz Matsui to look forward to

It's also too bad that the Braves don't have to face the Astros for the rest of the season
Not fair, cuz the Astros were beating up on everyone else in the NL East

In the Astros and Rockies series, the Mets waited til the series finales to start hitting. In each of those games, they scored more runs that all the previous games for each series combined, where they made spot starters look like Cy Young. They also wasted great performances by Pedro and Glavine.

In the AL, it would be an interesting story if Alan Embree, who was cut by the Red Sox, helps the Yanks beat the Sox.
However, the bullpen isn't looking too good right now. They should thank the Blue Jays for that 18-inning game that wore out the Angels bullpen.

another comeback win for the yankees although angels' errors were a big cause of it.. i was surprised to see riviera give up a run... thank god for the wild pitch that let bernie score to tie it back at 7.

I've always suspected Raffy for doing the juice especially after watching this feature on him and how he metaphorphasized into HR hitter from a good doubles hitter after already being in the league for 5+ seasons.

Well Canseco seems to be right after saying that he personally injected him. Raffy's denial seems like a crock of shit to me.

He may still make the HoF... but certainly not first ballot. That would be like saying Barry Bonds won't make the HoF.

I disagree. Bonds would make the Hall of Fame without his huge homer years as pretty much everyone thinks he wasn't taking the juice when he was hitting 30 bombs a year, stealing 30, and winning the gold glove. He just went from a Hall of Famer to maybe the best hitter ever.

Palmeiro though HAD to have the juice in order to juice up his stats to make it. I see a distinction in this particular case but there could be others that I would agree with you. Just not Bonds.

Youre also forgetting... is it 5 or 6 MVP's?

Exactly, he had won a number of his MVP's before his power numbers juiced up there to Nintendo numbers. He was still slim and winning them. Palmeiro was just a decent player before the boost.

Bonds has 7 MVP's total, how many are clean? I think at least 3.

i love the denials that involve "hey i didn't know what i was doing". it's not exactly a flat out denial

Posted by Shamez214 on Aug-01-2005 21:15:

My brother and I were talking baseball today, and Ichiro came up. So we started talking what he has to do here to make the HoF. And, also, if they would take into account his Japanese numbers. That's another debate for another time, really.

So... then Hideki Matsui came up. I'm sure if he finishes with 200 HRs, 800 RBIs, blah blah blah, he will make it in. But this is where we hit a snag.

Should Ichiro automatically make it to the HoF before any other Japanese player? This is assuming, of course, that Ichiro continues getting 200 Hits a year and keeps his average at .330 or whatever. If Hideki retires before Ichiro (it could happen) and he is "HoF caliber," should the BBWAA wait until Ichiro is eligible, vote him in, and then the next year vote Hideki in? Or do you think it won't matter? Just curious to see your take on it.

Posted by Vlad on Aug-01-2005 21:24:

Thats pretty retarded that they wait for someone with better numbers just to break a race 'barrier' if Matsui is eligable and there arent any other people to 'out shine' him those years, I dont see why not.

A-Rod is 30, Jeter, Ichiro, & Matsui are all 31.

Amoung others that might be looked at... if anything, I think they should both be inducted at the same time. So there isnt any bias.

Posted by Shamez214 on Aug-01-2005 21:34:

My stance is that Ichiro should make it before any other Japanese player. Just like I believe Mariano should make it before any other pure closer.

when you're right, you're right.

the yankees entire pitching staff makes me ill right now, with the exception of Rivera.

Giambi is currently the best player in the American laegue and has been for the past 6 weeks. A-rod finally a big hit. Sheffield shut the fuk up and contimue to HIT
