Hostels are mostly pretty dodgy, lol. GREAT way for meeting people though, while you're travelling.

That said, I've stayed in some amazing hostels before Nicer than some hotels I've stayed in, no joke

That's awesome. I know there are some hostels in some big cities here - I know of 2 in LA, but I'd imagine that it's pretty different over here haha. I don't think I'd want to spend a night in a hostel in venice beach , though it might actually be nicer than my brothers appt in venice...lol

There are hostels in every big/medium city mate. There would be tons in LA - The backpacker market is huge

Best hostel I ever stayed in was in South Africa, at Jeffrey's Beach. Just awesome And, I don't think I've ever smoked so much pot in my life

Edit: Second best was here in QLD, up at Airlie Beach. Place was like a small resort

Damn you've been all over!
I really wanna visit South Africa some day...seems like a cool place.
My dad lived there for 3 years actually.
My mom told me some story about how, before there was her, I sorta had a brother over there, but then it turned out not really. Weird weird stuff. And my dad is too old so I'll never ask him about something like that

I backpacked for about 3 years, 19 through 22 years old. Hit up some cool places.

In order: Japan, UK, France, Belgium, Holland (stayed in A'dam way longer than I intended - 3 months lol), Spain (with Ibiza baby, yeah!), South Africa, UK again, and again, and again... etc. then back home. Best time of my life

I'm not sure I understand?

How do you backpack for 3 years? Is that just a fancy way of calling yourself a bum who lives out of a backpack and has no yob and no savings and eat off the streets?

Nah, I had lots of jobs. I had a working visa for the UK, so basically I'd go work in a bar for a few months (usually with live-in accommodation), save up money, then go to another country for as long as the money would allow for. Then, back to the UK, work again, save up again - rinse and repeat for 3 years.

Guinness is rubbish. Absolute swill.

Not even trolling here.

I will end you.

Yeah, no surprise here. The bloody Irish I swear they all think it's made from god's sweet jizm or something, the way they carry on about it.

Most ordinary stout ever.

But I bet it tastes better in Ireland, right?

Posted by Quazar on Nov-18-2011 06:29:

I'm just gonna ignore Sushipunk and ask: How is the Guinness Black? I haven't tried it yet.

Posted by Sushipunk on Nov-18-2011 06:39:

LOL, sorry for my little outburst there.

I really think Guinness is crap though There are good stouts, but Guinness is not among them. Average at best, though I personally consider it to be nasty

Posted by srussell0018 on Nov-18-2011 06:51:

Ignoring Stu and his gutter palate, the Black Lager is pretty good. I typically don't really like lagers, but this one is decent. Still nothing compared to the original though.

I'm having a house party on Saturday so I got some Quebec beers. I know I've mentioned these before but they are pretty awesome:

Belle Gueule
Don de Dieu
Ephemere (Black Currant)

mmmmmm

I don't know how that started. I've heard a lot of people here say such ridiculous things as that it's shipped to the US from Ireland in powder form and it's a "just add water" kind of thing.

It tastes exactly the same from the tap here as it does there. Delicious.

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Nov-18-2011 19:09:

There really aren't very many beers that are straight-up bad, but so far as stouts go, Guinness is really, really unnecessary.
