I listen to ESPN radio every night when I go to bed, and the guy has been saying the past few nights that he doesn't think Miami will lose another game the rest of the playoffs. I can definitely see that happening now...

As much as I like Dirk, I'd also like to see Miami win it all just to silence all of the Heat haters, and to make that cock of an owner of the Cavs eat his words. I've always liked Lebron, and he deserves to win one. If they win it this year though, I can definitely see a few more in their future, especially when they can add a few more key role players to their lineup.

Sounds about right.

What's scary is that this is the worst Heat team we're going to see for the next 5 years or so.

Posted by srussell0018 on May-27-2011 03:58:

Right? I mean if there is a season next year. People have been saying it all year about how you can't just buy superstars without supporting role players and win a championship. I guess they didn't realize that two of those superstars are Dwyane Wade and Lebron James. Jesus it's like having Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan on the same team. I do think it's a testament to those guys' characters that they were able to actually mesh as a team though. I definitely respect Lebron for his decision (not "the" decision) but his decision to leave Cleveland to pursue playing on a true team. People try to fault him for abandoning Cleveland, but they forget that they had since 2003 to build a team around him, and could never muster better than a slightly above average point guard as a supporting cast.

Dirk to the Heat in 2011-2012!

I might be able to process this tomorrow.

Maybe.

Just silly.

Really hoping Miami wins the final. Lebron's past due for a ring.

cant argue with that, cavs had alot of time to do something and didnt.

I just dont like how wade pretty much asked Bosh and Lebron to come to miami. after the trade happened, i saw an interview with MJ, he said: 'In my days, i wansnt calling up Magic, Bird, Isiah to join my team...i was trying to beat those guys."

The NBA is not what it used to be, and MJ is the greatest!i want to have his babies

Yeah, but these days a lot of players are friends before they get to the NBA, or through other avenues. Wade and Lebron and Bosh all played on the Olympic team when they won the gold medal. Why wouldn't you want to play on the same team as your friends? There's plenty of other people to be competitive with.

Still, it's not like you can just throw any combination of superstars together and they'll be successful. Look at the Knicks. I think the Lebron/Wade/Bosh thing was pretty unique, and they actually fit really well together as a team.

nawww thats bull....

lebron's main rival (in his gen) is Wade....ya they played on the same team for the Olympics? So did Magic/Jordan or Jordan/Drexler

Jordan and Barkley were very close, they never made an attempt to be on the same team...

face it, the NBA is turing into a 3 man team (look at the lakers if Chris Paul/Howard join) then you have the Knicks, etc

and a bunch of scrub teams....in the 90s the NBA i find had way better players so the teams were more equally distributed.

im just an old fart that lived in the lime light of the NBA in the 90s....still fun the watch now, but not like before

In the 90's, there were 6 or 8 teams at the bottom that were absolutely atrocious. We don't think about it because the teams at the top were so awesome.

I think the distribution today is better. Every major market has a good team at the same time: Boston, L.A., NY, Chicago, Dallas, Miami. There was a 10 year period when Boston and New York sucked huge balls, and the NBA was worse for it.

No doubt there were bad teams in the 90s, but today the rising OKC, and the ones you mentioned are the only teams that are good. in the old days you had better teams everywhere....and with 1 or 2 stars with an amazing supporting cast

look at the pistons in 1990 (all 5 starters were great, had 1-2 big star, rest excellent supporting cast) for example, theres plenty more teams like that in that era...Sure there was teams like the Bucks, like today, couldnt string a 5 game winning streak lol.

I just find (and the heat are a perfect example of that) that teams today will grab 2-3 superstars, the rest shit ass players and go from there.

What "teams today" are you talking about? To my knowledge there are only 2 teams in the whole league that have used that strategy, and it didn't even work for one of them.

I think you're overly generalizing a "trend" that isn't really a trend at all.

well you have the celtics (but they have a decent supporting cast) heat, knicks, if what im hearing is true, howrd/paul to lakers....

and if this trend continues, you'll see a couple other teams jumping on this ship

i just find that a few teams are getting all the stars, i could be overgeneralizing

Dirk to the bulls!

There are stars on pretty much every team in the NBA. That's the difference between today's NBA and the one from the early 90s. I mean look at teams like Memphis and OKC making it that far into the playoffs. Teams like that would never even come close to making the playoffs in the past.

I also highly doubt that CP or Dwight will go to the Lakers.

Interesting read on Phil Jackson.

Uh oh! Scottie Pippen today:

quote:
"Michael Jordan is probably the greatest scorer to ever play the game. I may go so far as saying LeBron James may be the greatest player to ever play the game."

*anxiously waits for a peeved Jordan to respond*

Posted by srussell0018 on May-27-2011 19:48:

We'll see how they stack up when their careers are both over, but if he keeps up his current pace, I think Lebron could be just as good as Jordan. He's matured a ton over the past year or so, and he's still in his prime. I could see this Heat team winning multiple championships for sure.

Posted by Renzo on May-27-2011 20:19:

Jordan is obviously the greatest player ever, but LeBron is a physical freak. He's a freight train whose defensive ability is just unreal.

In my eyes, he is the most complete player in the NBA right now. And probably for years to come.

Also, I still cannot believe what I saw last night.
