Hey,

I think this was discussed the last time I posted my setup in here - but all I did was download the image from the photographer's website, photoshopped out his name/logo (Dean Belcher) and then used a programme called 'Rasterbater' to blow up the image.

You don't need to use something like that, but what it does is create its own dotty artifacts when blowing up an image, rather than JPG blocky nastiness. It works really well. Then, I just took the finished image to a printers, and got it printed for £10. Well worth the money if you ask me.

Rasterbator Link

The original is on his website but I think I've got the image on a drive somewhere, if it's not hidden somewhere on this thread already - let me know and I'll get it to you.

John

What a setup mate. Love the recessed mixer/decks.

Did you just say that because of his name

Posted by DJRecess on Sep-08-2008 18:31:

Hahah, I guess with a name like Recess I was always destined to go for Recessed decks.

Looking out that photo as we speak, will upload if I find it.

Posted by DJ RANN on Sep-08-2008 20:29:

Hey Recess, what wood did you use for the setup, I can't tell from the pics, but it doesn't look like MDF. Did you also build in a tilt for the mixer.....nice setup.

You should upgrade to Traktor Studio, then you can run timecode on your CDJ's and 1200's all at once.

Next thing is to get an 800 and get the monitors out of storage.

Hey John,

Is it possible to upload the photo. The photographer's portfolio doesn't work...

I'll slap his silly ass if he doesn't sign. I don't know what the hell he's waiting for. Who wouldn't want to center Kovalev and Tanguay in the greates hockey franchies in history - one that for once is a serious cup contender. More than you could say about the Laffs.

PA! No Swedish wood present in my setup, all hard work, sweat and bruised thumbs putting that thing together :-)

It's 'Contiboard' http://www.conti.co.uk/index.html I think it's the 2m x 80cm stuff I used for it - all on heavy duty shelf brackets, with vertical insets on the lower shelves to spread the load. And the top is just another piece with holes cut out. Simple enough.

Yes, the mixer's now on a tilt. I used to have it flat, with a flap at the back to access the cables, but it's odd how a 1 inch rise makes it feel nicer to use.

Oh, and Ryan0571 - I'm running Traktor Scratch and Traktor 3 on it, I didn't go that far into the detail on the original post. So yeah, I'm running all four decks through Traktor. Once I got through all the teething setup issues (crackles, drop-outs etc) it works like a dream.

I've got one more drive to look for to try to find the end result Sasha pic that I used. If I find it, I'll upload a link to it (it's a few Mb in size).

Hope you're all well!

John

Do you have any noise from your computer? My hp is one of the dv models like that and it has awful hard drive noise / high frequency hum.

Posted by DJRecess on Sep-09-2008 22:36:

Not that I've noticed - but I do use an external hard-drive (the black box on right of frame) instead of the internal one. So maybe that's got something to do with it?

I'll try running something from the internal, and let you know.

John

Posted by aBigWreck on Sep-09-2008 22:48:

Thx, I've noticed the hum is worse if its plugged in so I think its a grounding issue. But I got some isolater thing from radio shack that didn't seem to help so I'm stumped
