My question is...how do you balance alcohol into an excercise regimen? Alcohol really packs on the pounds especially around the mid-section. I'm not an alcoholic. I drink occasionally but I find it to be the worst if you're trying to reduce fat. The hard spirits are especially fattening; one of those little shots is filld w/ calories and they easily add up.

well...i think if you do things correctly...you will be able to still go out on the weekends and have a beer or two with the peeps, but i guess you could always drink lite beer if you are still having trouble...

Posted by Orbax on Dec-21-2004 21:54:

I drink like a fuckin fish, daily.

Its a very simple equation. Burn more than you consume. so you either have to raise output or lower input.

depends on if drinkin is that important to you...

Although i did find after i started drinkin only 1 night of the week (6+ beers) My body tightened up and was looking considerably more toned.

plus you sleep better without alcohol unless you mix it with sleeping pills and the you have an awesome sleep

I drink a lot, and eat adequatly since a couple of weeks now, and I saw a lot of changes, I feel better physically and mentally.

I dunno if you all feel the same thing, but as far as I'm concerned it really shows when I stop working out for a few days, like now I plan on going tomorrow since I didnt go since last friday, just really didnt have time, and I almost feel depressed and I have less energy, after some time it becomes a dependency, but I'm farkin happy to be addicted

why?
that's only 15-25lbs, i've done that in 3 months, and best case scenario you could probably do it in 4 weeks, just eat huge, and eat the right stuff, oh and train hard

Posted by Floorfiller on Dec-22-2004 19:16:

you guys are gonna cringe when you see my abs right now hehee...they look so shitty

maybe i can trim a little off before the lst hehehe

the first 15 pounds.. 20 is very easy to get.. youll get it the first few months

after that you start to plateau with you weight

ive been eating and working out hard for the past year and a half.. .. sometiems i only gain 2 lbs per month.. if even

it starts to become a slow and gradual process.. this is my experience.. and im not using supplements..

and why dont you start using supplements then, you can always beat a plateau, maybe take a few weeks break, just maintenance, then absolutely throw in the food

well i was on a heavy creatine cycle for one month.. thats how i broke my plateu at 140

i managed to get up to 148 lbs

after i stoped the cycle i couldnt surpass 145

it was good though it gave my body a shock.. the thing about supplements is that you get demotivated

for instance.. i was able to bench max 175 lbs on the peak of my creatine cycle.. 55 lbs each hand shoulder press etc etc

my weights have gone down at least 10 - 20 lbs on bench
5 or so on shoulder press and on average 5 lbs for everything

a month after stopping the cylce.. i was pushing myself too hard and injured my sacroilliac joint which is the joint that connects the pelvis to the leg bone

so i have been taking it easy.. i might start a cycle again.. but it becomes a dependant thing.. and i dont like that

you should do some cardio

it can always help warm up your muslces and avoid injury

even i do it sometimes and im a stick

Posted by Orbax on Dec-22-2004 20:11:

I like cardio because i like being able to hike to the top of mountains

It's because of water retention. When you first wake up in the morning your body has depleted a lot of the extra water it stored the day before, then your stomach swells throughout the day. Drink a lot of beer/soda at night, then when you wake up you'll notice they look a lot better.

Feels good to hit a proper gym now that I'm on break. Up at school I can't do squats, and after 3 months without doing them, I can barely walk and I did them on Sunday.

well that might be why your not gaining weight, i have no reason to do cardio, i have lost fat using the training i'm doing without cardio and i can dance when i go out for hours, without feeling too exhausted.

i never warmup before training, always hit the heaviest set first, and in the 5-6 months i've been training that way have not injured myself once

i used to do the same thing, until injured my sacroilliac joint

even a 5 minute walk on the treadmill or a quick trip to the sauna can help

you dont want to have your muscles stiff when you work out.. lets say you are working your shoulders and you accidently jerk.. you can strain your muscle.. and be out of the gym for weeks.. even months

its been 2 months for me now since ive "seriously" trained.. due to a simple injury that could have easily been avoided by a small cardio warm up and pre workout stretching

even a quick 5 minute jog helps!.. you just want to get the blood flowing before you start to break appart your muscle (aka work out)

Posted by diego on Dec-23-2004 13:57:

i always use full focus on the exercise, and dont jerk the weight or anything, so i won't bother, there isn't a treadmill in my gym anyway, there against that sorta thing

OHHHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would just like to announce to everyone that i achieved my goal in the gym that i set at the start of the semester, and it feels bloody AWESOME.

I am now able to do do Flys with the biggest set of dumbells at my gym, and i'm very proud to have achieved my goal!!!

I did two sets of 6 reps with 35kg (approx. 77 lbs) on each dumbell. It's good for me, anyway
