Considering what passed on asot for the last 12 months, it's a pretty great set, with all the good sounds of the show.
And imho if you guys don't like... just ignore... it's not "the top20 of 2006 by armin" neither is "top20 of 2006", is "top20 of asot on 2006 by the listeners", so you don't have any reason to be offended.
I voted #1.Lost World - A Life Elsewhere (Martin Roth PSY Remix) and that tune is 86th!
Mike Foyle - Shipwrecked 26th and Re:Locate - Spirit 82th... I hope 2007 top20 wont be like this one
I'm quite impressed that Armin managed to include 20 tunes from two labels only. wow.

| Originally posted by uzi i guess armin is happy, this top 20 resembles his A.S.O.T. style. in my opinion: 1) the melodic espect of the chart is horrible, most of the tracks are boring and hardly use 3 different notes. 2) above & beyond's fans were defenetly loyal. 3) the chart looks more of electronic-dance-music chart then a TRANCE chart. 4) evey year is gets even worse. 5) this chart is defenetly armin's style. this is what he usualy plays and this is what people think is "cool". if dj dan was so hot in the dj mag poll, why would this chart be any different? |
Arksun - Arisen

It's a very nice track but I don't know about top spot, Proglifter should've been up there.

The 224kbps version is transcoded. Waste of bandwidth and a silly or even unethical upload! .cue sheets available over @ http://koti.mbnet.fi/lindmik/cues/ by the way!

This top 20 of 2006 just goes to prove what an absolute joke ASOT has become. Armin, if you're reading this then i urge you to revisit some of the shows you were pumping out back in 2003. They were the winners. They were gold. They were what A state of trance was all about. varied, quality, original sounding music which had an edge. Which sounded fantastic.
(insert rant here)
No offense to Paavo, Tony or Jono, but there is no way that A&B deserve to win the tune of the year for the third time in a row. Seriously what a freaking joke that is. it also looks like almost half of the top ten tunes are released by armada, and the same old artists are making up the top 20.
I listened to about 3 episodes of ASOT this year, and being someone who used to religious listen and ADORE the show only a couple of years ago, this really makes me sad what it has become. Surely its not the drones out there listening who are voting for this shit, it must be the values and the 'drivers' which are pushing ASOT in this direction....
i am disgusted!

Sadness

i never was a fan of that armin style ... it was great years ago, like it was said here, but nowadays ... sorry... doesnt work.
i agree with the opinion that asot isnt really trance or the top20 werent really trance.
if u want a real trance set then check chris #19 meets dj shivan - netmeeting over trance
forgot : really love that track
Markus Schulz Feat. Carrie Skipper - Never Be The Same Again (Markus Schulz Coldharbour Club Mix)
