i don't dislike techno, but it's all i ever hear these days... and all my favorite DJs who used to play the funky stuff seem to be hopping on the techno train. am i just living in the past and holding onto a genre that's no longer "cool" or in style, or are there actually DJs out there who are still playing the funky stuff?

i've been listening to so much 2006-era Luke Fair and Desyn Masiello lately and i'm just dying to hear anything like that in a club again.

Eh trance is the thing now, I find it more interesting than techno. When your listening to trance the melody progresses as when your listening to techno its just constant and barely progresses and if so "percussively" at most making it kind of boring after a while. There are some fine techno melodies but they just wear off after a minute or so to my ears cause I always like something more additive and interesting.

FYI, in a couple of years, Katrina will devistate the south-western of the USA. At the end of 2008, America will suffer from an economic crisis. In the year 2009, Obama will be elected as the new president.

If I do recall the name of this forum is "tranceaddict.com/forums" not "technoaddict.com/forums"

@ TheMaestro: Great you recently discovered how greatly fucked up the American economy is.

Well, it sure as hell isn't metaladdict.com

Greatly agreed but I don't just listen to metal. I came to this forum cause ever since I listened to a few trance songs I wanted to get more into the genre. There is a fine line between "difference" of the genres techno and trance.

Yes, it is called tranceaddict, but that's really almost the only thing this whole site has to do with trance. Maybe you should go and take a look at trance.nu (not wanting to burn, it's just that the name tranceaddict doesn't really suit this site)

I like how you picture the whole EDM spectrum. There's trance and there's techno.. isn't there anything else perhaps?

Posted by lücid on Aug-13-2009 22:19:

please don't turn this thread into a trance vs techno debate.

now, back to the funk!

Of course. I'm just saying theres a fine line between those two.

@ Lucid: Have fun, I won't ruin your discussion, I feel justified and I don't need to go any further. I'll just let these people who want to argue just talk to walls.

i was there. it was awesome.

I really want to check out one of the Sunday Best parties, unfortunately none of my friends like going out on Sundays... and they still haven't bitten on the deep/funky house yet still into trance and electro...

I really liked the Kyle Hall set. Although i didn't attended to it live (listened to the mp3), it has a great vibe and atmosphere of the party in it. You can almost feel the party is great.
Although Kyle's mixing wasn't that good, his track selection is awesome.

Go by yourself. I've done it plenty times. Just 'cuz your friends are boring doesn't mean you have to be.
