quite a series - 3-2,2-1,2-1
ending with an extra-inning game, and the ChiSox beating Mo (though it wasn't a save opp, so his streak stays alive)
Unfortunately, they fall to 5.5 games behind BoSox, and Indians overtake them in the wild card race
Luckily for Yanks, BoSox face ChiSox next, with Buerhle and Garland, though at Fenway
Pavano is out for 6 weeks, but Small and Chacon have been doing a damn good job
Worst collision I've ever seen. Reminds me of Damon/Jackson in the playoffs in 2003.
Collision
A's v. Angels... Haha! Man... that made an otherwise somber day so much more fun. After that terrble event in the Mets game, I needed something light and fun... and Frankie provided just that.
With runners on second and third in a tie game in the 9th, Frankie threw, what else, a slider. It nipped the corner and easily could've been called a strike, but was called a ball instead. K-Rod preceeded to put his hands on his hips and stare at the umpire. When the catcher threw the ball back to him, he nonchalantly tried to catch it... and missed it. He was too busy thinking about the non-strike call and completely missed the ball. Kendell scored and won the game. Man... that's so great! Especially when you hate the Angels as much as I do.

i've noticed lately how the fundamentals of baseball are lacking in the majors these days. something like that is inexcusable for professional players. you learn that when you first start playing, you see professional players not execute plays like laying down sacrifice bunts or hitting the ball to the right side with a man on 2nd or wild pitches to end the game, these small things were taught to every ball player right when they started playing, kind of sad to see that these are the role models for today's youth.

And history plays a large part in a team. So the Braves success over the past 15 years has nothing to do with their continued success this year? The New England Patriots winning 3 out of 4 Super Bowls has nothing to do with their chances for success this year? So last year with Peyton Manning losing even though he was the MVP had nothing to do with New England's past success against him? The Yankees have made the playoffs the last 10 years. So the Spurs next year are just as equal to have a chance to win as the Knicks? Curious... Teams misfortunes or successes against other teams does play a role in the present results. Players aren't robots, their humans and have memories. But merely my point was that over time, the Yankees have proven to be the most successful franchise for winning. Not that it guarantees they win every year. But it does help breed continued excellence. |

| Originally posted by Shamez214 So... the Mets have, in general, been failures over the past decade or so. The Cubs haven't been to the WS since '45. If they win the WS next year, they suck because they, as a franchise, have always been bad? If you say that past excellence means that a team doesn't "suck" now, then it should work the other way, no? |

| Originally posted by Vlad By saying the Yankees suck youre including the present and past, in which case is just plain dumb. Since the 10's the Yankees have won a multiple WS's in every decade except the 80's... thats pretty amazing. And just because the Cubs havent been to the WS since 45 doesnt necessarily mean their franchise sucks, the amount of times they have made the playoffs and stuff matters. |
damn, Pedro had a no-hitter going into the 8th against Dodgers, but with 2 swings of the bat, the Mets lose
2-4 on a West Coast road trip that should've been 5-1, and failing to take advantage of the Astros losing 8-0
D-Rays continue owning the Yanks, winning their 3rd series in a row, and with a 9-4 record
#%!^%!#%* mets bullpen... especially that graves character.
pedro should be at 18, 19 wins
Shawn Chacon is money! Looks like a great trade so far, scraps for a very quality starter.
King Felix Hernandez is so freaking good.... thank you brain for getting him in Fantasy baseball.
Al Leiter sucks but he's had more than one good game. But the most he's gonna do is go 5 2/3 innings (which blows up your bullpen obviously).

mr.wright pitches another gem for Yanks, finally move into three way tie for wild card lead . a-rod is continuing to play like an Mvp and playing amazing defense I might add(he might actually be worth the money) and 8 100 rbi years in a row congrats. If randy was randy yanks would be winning the division, if they dont make the playoffs this year I single -handidly blame the big-unit=bust!

Was at the game last night, what a great night for baseball. This whole week will be nice for ball, I'll be at the stadium on wednesday as well.
