Where the fuck is Mikey Mike?

My guess is he's crying himself to sleep because he didn't make the top 10.

People in the arminvanbuurne.com forum are pretty happy about the results. Most people at the tiesto.com forum, well, that's another story.

Posted by sensorium on Oct-21-2005 07:26:

I don't like traveling by train.

Also, when I wrote arminvanbuurne.com I meant to write arminvanbuuren.com.

Posted by varun on Oct-21-2005 07:36:

Not a bad list. Armin is at pole which is good. Zabiela is in the top 20 that is excellent. Good to see JOOF and Marco V up there as well.

Posted by Sean Cassidy on Oct-21-2005 07:39:

1. Armin Van Buuren
2. Paul Van Dyk
3. Tiesto
4. Ferry Corsten
5. Above & Beyond

WIKKID WIKKID!!

- Pretty sure I ranked these guys in my top 5 - I know I changed it mid-post - so can't remember to clearly

but very happy with the Above and Beyond placing - tho they should be number 3 IMHO.....

2 solid years of production and solid mixes - bring on 2006!!

P.S. Paul Van Dyk coming to TORONTO and decimating our asses would so make him deserver number 2!

POST THAT SHIT!

S.

There's just too many people thinking that DJ = producer. Perhaps it should officially be set that way, and call the DJ's "record spinners" or something.

And it is sad to see clowns like ATB above him.
I am not sure if AvB fans must be proud that Armin is #1 in a list that Gigi D'Agostino and Dj Jean are mentioning.

Agree with you.. And it annoys me as hell =/
Just like I wrote a couple of pages ago too

This is what I said when I tried to explain for a friend who cant understand the difference between a DJ and a producer it seems..
Giving a producer a vote in a DJ poll is about the same as giving a farmer a price for best cook or something..

Posted by Kinuvan on Oct-21-2005 09:14:

It's an awfull list.

Posted by moogwai on Oct-21-2005 09:48:

Nice list... with my fave dj on place #1, and the 4 others also in the top 10

Allthough the biggest surprise for me is still the populairity of Above And beyond. I mean... their radio show seems to be quite populair, but on which big parties/clubs do they have spinned actually? (maybe I'm just to dutch-oriented in here).. definetely, if your compare A&B to the other top dj's who have performed much more.... same for G&D and a bit lesser for Markus. But in the other hand good to see some fresher names in the list.

And off course it's logically that all dj's with a radio show have a good spot, cause this is an internet community.
I think Above & Beyond, Gabriel & Dresden, Markus Schulz and Blank & Jones will have lower spots in the DJ Mag for sure.

And good to see Trance is still more populair than progressive

Another thing.....

In this state of the EDM evolution - a DJ is pretty much expected to come up with his own productions.....

A true DJ if he cannot find the PERFECT records to segway his tracklistings in the mix - he creates them - wether it be accapellas, re-edits, sample breaks or scratches....therefore bridging his own harmonies with the many talents on the platters that lay across those decks......that creates HIS/HER SOUND

Every DJ has to have their own sound - otherwise how in the HELL do you compare.....

The world is full of copy cat/cookie cutter copies but some of these artists have created masterpieces....

ARMIN VAN BUUREN - BLUE FEAR/COMMUNICATION, TOUCH ME, BURNED WITH DESIRE, Yet Another Day, Virgo, Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound of Goodbye, Ghost/Eighties MASH-UP........ UNIVERSAL RELIGION, ASOT, MEGAMIX 200

PAUL VAN DYK - FOR AN ANGEL, WORDS, FORBIDDEN FRUIT, ANOTHER WAY, CRUSH, HUMATE - LOVE STIMULATION, BINARY FINARY, Deep Dish - Say Hello remixes etc.....POLITICS IN DANCING, ANOTHER WAY, SEVEN WAYS

TIESTO - BREDA 8PM/DALLAS 4PM, URBAN TRAIN, TRAFFIK, IN MY MEMORY, FLIGHT 643, ADAGIO FOR STRINGS, Southern Sun remix....NYANA, ISOS 1,2,3

FERRY CORSTEN - OUT OF THE BLUE PUNK, RIGHT OF WAY, HOLDING ON, SUBLIME, Gouryella, Carte Blanche, Galaxia, Albion - Air 2000, Art Of Trance - Madagascar, Corderoy - Sweetest Dreams remixes.....GLOBAL TRANCEMISSIONS 1/2, LIVE AT SPUNDAE, CREAMFIELDS 2005

ABOVE AND BEYOND - NO ONE ON EARTH, , Oceanlab, Tranquillity Base, Aalto, w/ANDY MOOR - Air for Life, Holding On, Velvet Morning, What It Feels Like For a Girl remixes....AJUNABEATS, TRANCE AROUND THE WORLD, ESSENTIAL MIX OF THE YEAR

i finally made it to the end of this thread!

Posted by Arno F on Oct-21-2005 10:25:

I could have understand a #1 position for Armin in 2002 or something when he was still good, now he's just shit

Sasha deserved, on of those few dj's who allways come up with different interesting music

And Markus, G&D & A&B above Holden & Zabiela??

I'm just glad to see that Tiesto is not at #1 in a poll for once. But I'm really surprised that Carl Cox is only at #20.

Posted by kris1351 on Oct-21-2005 13:02:

The results could have been MUCH worse IMO. This isn't a horrible list, better than a lot of the others you will see out there.

Posted by Ash Parajuli on Oct-21-2005 13:02:

I don't care much about the poll, and won't influence what I want to hear and what not to hear, but it's always good to have a poll to see who's driving the bandwagon each year Looks like it's Armin

I still love listening to prog house, prog trance Doesn't matter who's spinnin or producing it, it's all awesome

In the end it all comes down to personal flavour and your music shouldn't be influenced by what others have to say about it.

My favs would be Zabiela, Sasha, Digweed, Holden, Armin, Corsten, Dyk but I personally love em all As long as the EDM genre is out there, I'll keep on listening to whoever I fucking want (except commercial house, that shit annoys me!)
