see, i disagree.. i think there are circumstances where you can be born that way, similar to how some people are born with both sets of genitalia. Maybe it's a chemical imbalance in the brain where your body is male but your brain says it's female? I'm obviously no expert in this field, but i wouldn't say it's impossible. I don't think avana has decided she 'wants' to be female, i think she's always felt she 'was' female, but went along with being male since that's the body she was born with and how she was raised to be. Once again, i'm no expert, but if what i said is possible, put yourself in her shoes, how would you feel? I guess this is not really directed to you eric but it was related.. I think avana has been very patient with all of us considering this is her life and it is a pretty big deal. the difference with psy-t was he likes to dress up as a women... he doesn't feel he is a women, so i can see how it could be more lighthearted for him seeing as this was more a sexual preference not so much a lifestyle. i could be totally wrong, just speculating here.

Maybe, but I'm saying either way it's not OK to assume that about everyone, just like it isn't OK to be like "LOL i didn't know you're black does this mean you're eating chicken right now instead of paying for your illegitimate kid's child support?"

I will say that among those I know who have done it, it's either out of desperation, because they can't get/keep a job due to discrimination or emotional or family stability, or because they feel it gives them acceptance/validation, makes them feel good, or they think that it's what society wants for them (however sick that is), and in both cases it's a result of transgender people trying to deal with society. I imagine a handful of them do genuinely like it though. Education both among the gen pop and the tg community I think will eventually reduce the proportion of our fallen sisters.

Gender and race are completely different. Did you know that some societies around the globe have as many as 5 different genders? It's a culturally accepted thing to have multiple genders, but hardly anybody wants to change races. Apples and oranges.

well, people do that.

to big differences though are:

- there are no categorically 'black' hormones and 'white' hormones.
- society is light years ahead with race variation than with gender variation.

its a quicker process then just accepting yourself for who you are.

and by who you are i mean everything you were dealt (sexuality race the way you feel inside)

I will accept the fact you may have a longer and harder time coming together as a full person. But I just think youre taking the easy way out. be a feminine dude, the way you were meant to be.

eh i don't know about that. maybe more culturally accepted since the 70s.


as far as people wanting to change races, it's more that they don't feel the need to do so, because racial markers are increasingly less important and obvious, and gender markers are still as important, oppositional, and obvious as always.

That is to say that race is less of an issue (though still very much one) - people are more color-blind than gender-blind, and gender is generally the first thing people perceive when relating to another person.

So if you were a man born very impoverished, and you wanted to become very successful, would it be "manning up" to just accept your lot in life and stay poor?

Oh, that's the hand you were dealt- no use trying to change things for what you perceive to be better, that'd be the pussy way out!

But just a heads up I will forever consider you a dude. and the majority of the general public will to. you can run from it but you cant hide from it.
