i would love some poster/flyer action for the memories to go on "the wall of raves" only flyers/posters are aloud on it from raves that ive attended instead of "stuff ive picked up that looks kool"

oooowwww immagine that!!! GETTING CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE BIG MAN TO ACTUALLY TALK TO HIM!!!! LET ALONE GETTING SOMETHING SIGNED!!! OOOMMMGGGG /FIENT!!!! (told ya narcism im gonna b more of a young little school girl meeting brad pit)

4 more sleeps! its like xmas!

Posted by EgosXII on Jun-06-2007 08:42:

I've got a number of posters and pamphlets, but aren't they a little bit of a nuisance to hold the whole show, especially since there's no guarantee he'll (be able to) sign em...?

I have the same wall, marak, tho on mine is also things i'm GOING to attend (got a white armin poster, a long one, and the pamphlets up )

and screw brad pitt: bring on ARMIN!!!!

It'd be great to meet the bloke and I love the way he plays other people's music, and some of his own, as much as the next person but if you do meet him don't blow in your pants.

It's that sort of attitude which gives trance a bad name!

You cannot compare Brad Pitt to Armin.
Armin is only a dj, Brad is everything!

nah they aren't, especially when you get to walk right in! I don't have one or anything, but they definately come in handy, especially with getting in to this event!

Yeah, lets hope it doesn't rain! XD

Behold, my arse.

Media passes are way better

I don't represent a genre of music: i think armin is a champion: if i meet him, i'm gonna be pretty darn excited: I'm not gonna get into some sort of existential quandry about how i should act just cause i'm a trance fan, i'll just do whatever... and if that means blowin in my pants, then i'll do it

Edit: tho, since the white jeans i'll be wearing aren't mine, i probably won't, out of courtesy

Even if you do lose control of yourself and make a mess that's not really my concern. I still don't like the idea of celebrity worship in any form.

Some guy down the street could easily be as good looking as Brad Pitt, and there is a high likelyhood a better root too (judging by all the "Brad is a dud root" magazine covers I've seen)

Celebrity worship is a useless gesture which artificially inflates the egos of those worshipped despite how humble they may be. The Beetles are a classic example, why the fuck else would someone come out in those conservative times and say "We're bigger than Jesus Christ".

I prefer to appreciate and enjoy, but not go overboard with gushing admiration. It reinforces stereotypes and makes for bad Today Tonight stories about various forms of excess.

That said, I'm fucking amped about this gig. Another state, one of my favourite djs, a mad crowd, huge venue, great friends, it's shaping up to be a wicked trip. I just feel that a night isn't made by a dj alone.

+ 1
As much as I respect him and his work (and he actually is one of the friendlier ones out there), at the end of the day he's just another fkn DJ.
He's not the King of rock 'n roll. No one can ever replace the King!

The vibe will definitley be off the hook on Sunday....will be my 4th time seeing him, looking forward ot it!!

Posted by Deeman on Jun-07-2007 00:24:

The guy is just a human being same as anyone else! He just exceptional at what he does in his field and I admire that and enjoy the way he entertains people. I'm pumped to see Armin play but I don't idolise or worship the man. The guy is a DJ, he aint saving the world!!!

Calm down people!!

I think you're taking a lot of simple excitment a little too seriously... I think the majority of people are just getting REALLY pumped Not expressing it the same way as you :P Just because they are a celebrity though, doesn't mean you can't be wowed if you met them. I would love to meat Armin, get him to sign something, it's not about worship it's about meeting your favourite DJ :P Not like it's really going to happen anyway but yeah, people are just excited me thinks!

Posted by minski on Jun-07-2007 01:06:

finished all my exams and stuff for tafe so now...startin to pump the phuck up. Are we to believe armin is kicking off at midnight?

I think you're right to some extent, but at the same time i don't see a problem with giving recognition to the artist- I don't intend to start a religion for armin, but if i meet him i DO intend to tell him that he's my favourite DJ, because it's true- Armin's music makes me feel good: that's an important thing:

I understand a certain ego boost may result, but if he's been in the industry for 10 years +, and is still able to relate to the common man (see the vid interviews i've posted already), then that's another reason that i still like him (c/f tiesto)!

There are a shit-load of DJ's out there: i personally don't find them all playing the same thing the same way: armin's unique (from my perspective) and that's why i like him:

I think that's true, and that's why i want to thank him for putting out his music-- Without the shepherd, where would the sheep be? (yes, armin's conducting we, dressed in white!! )

an artist without recognition is nothing-- Music is a public form: should we all just stand in the corner, admiring his skills, and do nothing about it?

Edit (yes, i have more): I also like meeting "stars" because it's really humanising: meeting Tyas at pharmacy the other week was amazing, not just because I love his work, and his mixes (and i said that to him), but because he was really trashed, and it was just cool: he was really down to earth and cool as well, so that enriches my experience of his music now, knowing that
