shout out to omega1. Tore Beta up proper. I hear they might even give the man a residency since he was one of the most crowd pumping new dj in the scene - he deserves it. They would be foolish not to give him one.

Fackin' Hell, man:

10/2 Christian Smith & Speedy J @ THe Church, Denver, CO

10/18, Adam Beyer @ Vinyl, Denver, CO

How the fack did CoClubs get this techno??? I would have LOVED to hear these guys on that Beta soundsystem. With Misstress Barbara as well at Vinyl next month, where is CoClubs getting this techno juice from?

Now the hard question - Lawler or Beyer on Oct 18th? Haven't seen Beyer in a few years but he's a rare treat stateside while Lawler is the reigning favorite. Tick tock, tick tock......

Posted by element-y on Aug-25-2008 20:21:

thats why its great to have competing clubs. Beatport and COClubs. More talent!!!

Holy crap. I'm going to have to get a job to start making it out to these events.

Yep, sure is.

I doubt if I'll go... I loved "Hold Your Colour" when it came out, but nothing since then has impressed me at all.

I actually havent been following them at all for the last few years but have wanted to see them live three years ago or so. But ive also heard they lost alot of what people used to like about them - so maybe once i give it a listen ill change my mind.

coclubs is getting this as they cannot get the big names anymore. which is both good and bad. Beyer shouldnt be playing on vinyls system, he should be doing beta, but he still isnt a big name|

Posted by element-y on Aug-27-2008 04:03:

so checked some pendulum stuff on youtube and wow they totally pulled a 360. They dont sound like anything from the first cd. I wanted to see them live so bad with that cd but with the new pendulum ill pass it up.

on a different note, I have a connection to get psytrance out in Denver but Ryan doesnt reply and dont know how to get a hold of Beta management. Not sure if anyone is interested in the likes of Astrix or Astral or CL, etc. but if so, I would love to let the guy that can bring them for less know right away so we can finally get psy in the scene here that isnt always here.

Not for Denver at least... it's a catch 22 - nice to see someone bringing some fresh techno DJs out here, but it's getting hard to get excited about seeing headliners at the Church & Vinyl anymore.

Posted by kabelicious on Aug-27-2008 15:15:

And techno is made for soundsystems like Beta's. Not Vinyl's or the Church's that has it shorts and starts and lack of depth. Techno doesn't have the soaring vocals that mask the shortcomings of that system while the Funktion system brings out the smaller nuances of techno. At least Hawtin is at Beta.

On another note, they had Vinyl rented out for a shindig last night and all I can say is this: I don't care who you have to know to get into a party like that but if you think blasting "Jump Around" by House of Pain or "Humpty Dance" is a good idea.......lol, at least they had jazz and downtempo versions of "As the Rush Comes" at Bar Standard.

I bet you can play country music at Beta at it'll make it sound good!

Regardless of superior sound, my ears would still bleed out, my heart would stop, and the chorus would torment me for years to come.

Posted by element-y on Aug-27-2008 17:33:

haha come on now.

Dont break my heart - my achey breaky heart hahaha.

I was at Beta for the first time finally last week and must say i am very impressed with what they did to the place. Only question I have with Beta as well as the church now is with the lasers relfecting off the ball. Is that legal in the states? Becuase I thought lasers cant be at eye level and with the ball changing the angles of the lasers downward, isnt that an issue the city might have?

My friend is trying to get info on if/where DJ Wolfgang Gartner is playing in Denver on the September 12th. According to his myspace, it says he's playing Roots @ Adobe. What the crap is that? lol.
