Ryan is TA's most prestigious Gigolo. On a good night, he'll earn himself a CDJ2000 worth of cash. This is but a small hobby of his. I'm sure there's plenty of other equipment out of shot

1. I'm older (34) and have a good job in high tech where I can afford to splurge.
2. I didn't buy it all at once.
3. It's worth a lot more then $8,000.
4. Yes it's my only real hobby.

I have friends with $5000 watches, or $60,000 cars. It's all about what you want to spend your money on and what makes you happy.

Loving that basement setup, dont like the fact you have records loose out of sleeves though man, treat them as if they were your babies!

NIce floating setup you've got there.

Posted by feelgood on Jan-10-2010 20:56:

While this is put to shame by most of the setups in this thread, it does the trick.

cdj-200 x2
xone:32

1 500 watt receiver
2x PSB speakers
1 300watt bass amp running as a subwoofer (actually works pretty good!)
2x stereo speakers running the mids and highs.

not pictured, a couple 80watt speakers serving as monitors.

Now how the hell would you know whether his speakers are fucked? Just cause they look a little worn? Some of the nicest speakers I've heard are slightly knackered looking. Doesn't mean they're going to sound like shit..

Personally i think the set up is savage. Screw comparing your setup to other peoples on here. If you're happy with it and it gets the job done, happy days.

Even though the speakers look old I'm sure they pack enough punch to get the room moving.

I actually like how you've got the sub in there to take care of the low end. Probably means you don't end up pushing the older speakers too much to get too much low end out of them. Too many people try and get bass out of their mids these days and push things into the red.

How d'you like the 200's and the 32?

nelly

Ive been using the 200's for the last three years at countless gigs, and they're holding steady.

The xone i just picked up a week ago. Its a huge improvement over entry level mixers. Still fettling with the filters though.

The two towers are more or less blown, but i have a few new woofers coming in soon.. its only s 2 minute fix. Everything else pounds enough for house parties..

Thanks
I'm getting rid of the turntables soon and getting a 3rd 1000MK3

Posted by Ted Promo on Jan-16-2010 07:57:

yes, I'm aware I'm messy, ah well

new mixer! \o/

so now setup is:

Xone 42
2x Technics 1200M3D's (Shure whitelabel carts)
2x Pioneer CDJ 200's
Sony MDR 7506 cans
Alesis monitors
Kenwood amp
and some really boss and loud speakers from the same era as the amp (like 1969ish) lol

Definitely impressed with just about everything on the 42. I wish the faders had a biiiit more resistance, but I guess you can't get everything. The filter is outstanding and I am going to love trying to figure it out and the sound quality on it is impeccable. Not to mention the eqs are butter.

Best $900 I've spent in ages.

Next up is new cdjs. Looking at either 900's or 1000mk3's.

It looks like you mostly use the CDJ's, but why do you have them in the back. Isn't it a hassle to reach over the techs every time?

I need stands, and that'll probably happen after I get new cdjs.

It's a space issue, but it's really not that bad of a reach.

I didn't know they had updated the 92 with that faceplate as well. Snappy.
