Press RELEASE
Foundation Nightclub to temporarily close.
Minneapolis, MN Dec 3rd 07. The now infamous Foundation nightclub will be temporarily taking a break to execute a master plan of reinvention and redesign slated to begin January 1st 2008. The club which has been a much needed retreat to music lovers all over the city has chosen to take a short break during the transition through the grueling winter season in order to create a new buzz and an over all new life into the basement of the lumber exchange building.
During the first 2-3 months of 2008, foundation will be quietly working on its new plan. What we can tell you is that all the things you love about the club will still be here, the sound, the vibe, the music and the overall feeling of Foundation. What will change will be..
During the month of December, Foundation will be ending its year in style with a great music line up. Everything from it's known for national dj's to include: John Acquaviva, DJ Heather, Markus Schulz and home town Legend Woody McBride to a Monster New Years Eve bash that Sold Out last year to take us into our closing night.
Foundation hopes to see in this last month, it's loyal and regular patrons on top of some new faces to close us out with a bang before we bring it back full swing in the Spring.
For further info and updates stay tuned to www.foundationmpls.com.
Thank You for your continued Support.
Foundation Nightclub
Looking forward to the new Foundation, but it sucks to miss some DJs in January. Bad timing I guess.
From what I understand this is Foundation's 'Hail Mary' shot at surviving. I know shows for them haven't been so succesful recently (turnout wise) due to a number of different things.
I hope for this club to survive because it's hands down my favorite in the Twin Cities. Great cover prices, decent drink prices, ambiance and lighting is top notch, sound is excellent, ect.
Tyler or Phil, I'm pretty sure you're a little more in the 'know' with what's going on over @ Foundation. Am I right with my presumption of why Foundation decided to temporarily close it's doors? Or is it simply they just want to do some renovating?
Anyways, I'm excited to see what it's gonna look like in there after it's all said and done.
I was under the impression they were renovating. If they can afford to throw money at a renovation, they must be doing OK. If they are shutting it down temporarily bc they cannot afford to keep it open, that's another story. I don't think that is the case.
Agreed, sickest club in the cities.
come enjoy foundation while you can.
markus schulz tonight.
and ill be celebrating my bday, so buy me a drink....or don't, depending on my condition at the time..
im also opening the deeplounge before the SIM dj contest gets started in there, so come check that out.
in my book.. Tonight's lady's night! Gonna try to make it to Markus, so i can have a rube best drink ever... hands down
How was he?
The show was decent he played a couple semi-older tracks like:
Andy Moor vs. Orkidea - YearZero (Andy Moor's First Light Mix) & Ronski Speed - The Space We Are. A couple breakbeat tracks were thrown into the mix that I enjoyed.
Markus was enjoyable, however the crowd last night was damn near horrible. Stupid-ass fights breaking out, people shoving, E-tards actin' a fool, teens asking me to buy them booze in the bathroom, etc.
I've never bitched about a crowd before @ Foundation until last night. I give the show a 5/10 only because of Markus laying it pretty thick. Other than that, it was hardly an enjoyable experience. Fuck 18+ nights, I understand they're revenue builders, but this is what you get when you let punk-ass teens come in and act like children. I'm used to that crap happening over at 'The Loft', but not Foundation.
I can't report on the Deep Lounge because I didn't happen to make a stop in there. I'm sure it was a better atmosphere than the main room. Sorry I didn't see you there last night, Tyler. I didn't make it to Foundation until a quarter after Midnight. Did you stay for the entire show or head out after your set?
Happy belated Birthday to you as well, too bad I didn't seeya there, I would've bought you a shot. Next time I suppose.
I've got no ill-will towards Foundation however. It still remains my favorite Twin Cities venue But unless it's an extremely good act coming to town. I think I'll skip out on the 18+ events from now on.
[/Rant]
PS. I saw Jack there last night as well, but in usual fashion he was moving around like a super-hero on a mission so I wasn't able to say hello.
Was an after party held anywhere last night?
I hear ya May, the crowd can totally make or break the night. From those 2 tracks it sounds like Shultz got lazy too. Oh well, win some loose some, just don't stop going out bc of a few punk asses.

PvD sucked in Miami, in fact I've lost all hope in him anywhere. He has the capability to play hard but I think he's realizing his market is 18 year old pop music fans. /rant
When we saw M. Shultz @ Armada night last WMC he killed it w/ some sick ass prog that blew the place apart. Got to say hi to him that night too. Ferry was in the crowd mingling as well. Rank1 ended the night w/ Greece 2000... /random wmc talk
Chris, if you don't make it to WMC this year....
I'm going. Don't worry 'boout it...
Less talk, more flight booking...
Shut your pie hole. What time does your flight get in tommorow?
I lied, it's the 19th. Abby gets in tomorrow. We should def spin Wed night...
