Shame / Disagreement

That's not the other deal I think. They can't announce that other deal for 7-10 days per NBA rules.

Even for a salary cap move it stinks.
A Salary cap move is trading Z-bo for a 1 year expiring contract or 2 players worth 5 mil' and one of them is going home after 1 season etc...

Z-bo is a 20 and 10 guy, you just dont give away this kind of guys for a box of jojos, its like the Pacers will give away Jermaine O'neal for Ryan Gomes and Ratliff.

Its was a pure Marketing move, selling the Blazers as a clean team which says no to drugs and guns. There was no real urgancy in sending Randolph, he's not even at Oden's Spot.
There are alot of trade Rumors going down...The Lakers,WOLVES And a ton of other teams were trains to jump on.

don't you guys have Aldridge and Oden????

so wtf is the problem... now both guys can be in the starting 5...

I love the move just because it could make the Knicks better, and we need more WEST teams giving up their best players to the EAST!

The Problem is we need A SF\SG really bad and we cant afford to give Randolph for something that "low".

And you Should hate the trade because it helps the Knicks lol, thats like me getting happy to see Golden State,Seattle,Denver and New Orleans getting stronger.
As a Celtics fan you need to hate the Knicks.

not at all... I feel bad for the Knicks... I always cheered for Ewing and the Knicks when they played the Bulls... sounds weird saying it now... but the Bulls were like EVIL to me when I was growing up... anyway

and right now... I don't hate any team in the east, cause theres no reason to, because they all suck equally, except for Detroit... but... if I was worried, I'd hate... but I can't... so....

and FYI, I haven't been a Celtics fan since they traded Toine... and I don't think I'm coming back... still deliberating...

I'm always curious how I write two times in the previous pages that the trade was horrible but somehow someone argues with me like I'm saying that it was a good trade. I'm just saying that Francis will never play for the Blazers like you mentioned.

HOWEVER, we just did get Greg Oden one of the best prospects in the last 10 years. Plus, the same GM got Brandon Roy, Aldridge, and Sergio Rodriguez last year. Plus got some great value in Rudy Fernandez, Josh McRoberts, and Taureen Green in this draft. I agee should have got more for Zach but I still think Pritchard is a great GM. One of the best! He deserves some slack for what he accomplished in the last 2 drafts, both of which are graded by the experts as the best. So please.....STOP BEING SO GREEDY! Blazers soon will be serious contenders!

Lastly, there is other trades in the hopper that might make more sense of the Zach trade. And free agent signings. So we shall see and can give a fair review after the summer.

umm both the Knicks and the celtics will compete for the 8th seed in the east so you better start hatin' on the mofo's

And youre reason for stop being a fan is kinda funny IMO, Its like me stoping to cheer for the blazers just bcz theyve traded Bonzi Wells a few years back (except bonzi is better than Walker)

Oh and Member of X: i didnt argue with you,i didnt say you are wrong or something i just stated that it was a sucky salary cap move and not a good one.
And im so greedy because i want them to kick the spurs ass ASAP.

Notice how the spurs had another steal in the draft btw?
these guys caught Tiaggo Splitter at like the 27th pick...he was among the top 10 projected picks for a few years now, great player.

Portland didn't get more for Randolph because Randolph is a nutcase.
Randolph in New York? It's going to be crazy. (fun games on the court, fun drama off the court?)

Agreed, the GM claims it was the best offer of 5. There is a backend to the trade I guess that we'll know within a week or so. Some claim it's just James Jones to Portland but others claim it's something else. Like dumping Darius Miles on the Knicks. That's the hot rumor and that would make up the bad. That's why I want to wait to see how the dust settles before I review the trade. So far, it was peanuts but yeah...Zach is a freaking nutjob and many GM's were scared of him.

Bonzi sucks. He was one of the Jail Blazer douche bags. Was pretty happy to see him gone. None more happy than RaWeed Wallace though.

2 big news coming today.

1. greg oden signs with portland, and is expected to team up with aldridge and sergio rodriguez in the summer league team. sweet jesus! what kind of team is that? smart move by oden. this is what i love about the nba over nfl sometimes. the top draft picks in the nba don't play holdout, and ask for a lot of money. they just want to come out and play.

2. rashard lewis is expected to sign with the orlando magic on july 11. that is a big surprise. both allen and lewis jetting off to different teams. wouldn't be surprised if lewis pulls a billy donovan though ..........

that's because nfl players have a lot more at stake. If they're lucky, they might sign 2-3 contracts ever, the risk of career-ending injuries is FAR greater, and with the much larger talent pool, it's a lot less of a certainty that even those top picks will be around for long (especially with contracts that aren't guaranteed, making players easily disposable).

Add that to the fact that nfl contracts are usually absurdly back-loaded, making the likelihood that you'll get all the money even less likely, and that the base salary and career length are both less for NFL players than for those in the NBA, and throw in all the additional free agency restrictions in the NFL, and it's hard to attack any of those guys for the holdouts. Granted, it's still a game, and they're still making more than over 99% of the population, but the "yeah, but you can afford it" argument has always been foolish.

With all that in mind, it's pretty damn hard to criticize the NFL guys for the contract disputes. Yes, it's irritating, but it's understandable.

Now, back to the draft for a moment (specifically my Chicago-centric take on it). Jordan is nearing the Isiah Thomas realm of decision-making, and I almost cried when the Bulls made their first pick. Noah is so obnoxious, so immature, so self-centered, and so confrontational that I just can't see anything good coming from this. He just seems like T.O. without the incredible skill set and charisma. His personality is about as appealing as a vomit-covered fruit cake, and it's being delivered to a team that might be more closely represented by a well planned 7-course meal. If Ben Wallace was not on the team to be there to just smack the kid into shape if he gets out of line, I would be signing off on this as the beginning of the downfall, but I'm going to cling onto that small shred of hope.

as long as paxson has isiah on speed dial, there is always a glimmer of hope

lol

unfortunately, I almost wish we hadn't gotten that pick.

not quite, though, just because it meant laughing at Isiah for a year, which is priceless.

Celtics are at least relevant now. They could make the finals I guess but geeze they sure are injury risks. They have absolutely no depth and Rajon Rondo is not a starting PG now. They have to get a few more role players! Their lifespan is like 2-3 years but at least that's better than a 0% chance that was before the 2 big trades. Just see how Allen and Pierce were injured for my fantasy team most of last year so I'd be concerned about that.

sorry, but I've been in a coma since my friend txt'd me that the KG to C's was a DONE DEAL... but I'm back... and back as a Celtics Fan... yeah they gave up a lot, but its KEVIN GARNETT!!!!!!!! Its just a funny feeling knowing Danny Ainge actually made a GOOD move for once... still trying to cope with it... feels so awkward!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'll take 3 championships NOW over Greg Oden, thank you!

fuck Portland, fuck Seattle, they ain't got shit on us, Oden and Durant will be out of both cities when their rook contracts are up... and the C's will pick them up when KG, Allen, and Pierce retire!!!

like i said in the other thread. good trade by boston. might as well think about "now", instead of the "future", because the past 2 years thinking about "the future" didn't pan well. if all goes well, in the next 3 years, i expect at least 2 eastern conference finals appearances, and at least 1 nba finals appearance. if they win the whole enchilada, i wouldn't be surprised. a pierce, garnett, and allen combination is a damn good team.

Posted by Yohan on Aug-03-2007 18:50:

It really depends on whether Boston can put together a decent bench.

Ray Allen isn't exactly injury free.

that's a pretty reasonable assessment. 3 titles, & signing durant & oden, though, is just funny. That would be like saying the Bears are a lock for the next 3 Super Bowls now that they signed Darwin Walker.

in my opinion, boston is going to be real tough to match up against, compared to the Atlantic Division. Toronto, New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia don't have the proper matchups against Boston's Big 3. Toronto has no answer for Pierce, New Jersey has no answer for Garnett, now with Mikki Moore gone, New York may have a chance, depending on the Richardson-Randolph vs Garnett-Pierce matchup, and you can just scratch Philly off this list, because they're going to be the worst team next year.

i think there's going to be a lot of emphasis on garnett and pierce, so allen will either get open looks, or take guys one-on-one. i think allen's workload will definately be far less than what he had to take in seattle.
