But FFS, Cashman needs to fix this fucking bullpen. Bruney, Farnsworth and Myers are probably the only 3 Id keep. The team would have atleast 10 more wins if it wasnt for the bullpen throwing games.

The problem with the Yankees is that Steinbrenner only lives for today, and never for tomorrow. He buys some overpaid talent for one year to try to win a championship, in the process he ships out farm team talent. Its a real shame.

Haven't the Yankees been committing a lot more effort to their farm system? It used to be one of the worst in the league and now it's like top 10, right?

I think the Yanks pen needs help but I think a lot of that help needs to come for the starting rotation. With the exception of Wang (and Clemens now starting to hit his stride) nobody is giving you guys consistent, quality starts and that's the main reason why your pen is struggling so much. With Proctor throwing 5 times a week it's no surprise his era is higher than it normally would be.

Yup. we should have 3 quality starters coming up in the next 2 - 3 years. Hughes is unquestionably going to be good. Joba Chamberlain is putting up good numbers in AA (2.40 era). Hopefully Sanchez comes back from his surgery and puts up the type of numbers he's expected to put up; he was the best prospect in the Detroit system behind Verlander.

Our pen is overused because torre doesn't manage the games correctly. Despite that, Proctor is still putting up pretty good numbers; I believe his era is around 3.60

We're 9 games back from Boston..However we have two games in hand..One is a dead cert cos we only have to play one inning and I think we're 8-6 up....

What you got to say??....I've been sick for a while and have only watched one game in about ten days....Enlighten me James....

fred wilpon was a huge bklyn dodger fan back in the day. rotunda is supposed to be a recreation of ebbets field entrance; i like the JR name as a tribute.

I agree.

In your honest opinion, do you really see the Yanks making a run at the playoffs? I say that if you get Hughes back in time and your rotation becomes Clemens, Wang, Pettitte, Mussina & Hughes for the last 2 months than you have the rotation to make a serious run. You obviously have the offense.

I honestly don't see you guys taking the Sox (knock on wood). I think our pitching is too deep, our lineup just good enough and our lead a bit too great. I do see a central team (the Indians, I think) slipping in August. I see the wild card race coming down to the Yanks, M's and Indians with the Tigers, Angels and Red Sox battling for home field. Those are the 6 best teams in the AL, I think.

As for the NL, what is going on with the Mets? The Braves are coming and coming hard - I think they take the NL East when all is said and done. The Cubs and Brewers will also be a really great race. Man, I love baseball after the break.

I do see them making a run but only because of their schedule. These are the upcoming series': Toronto (current), tampa, KC, baltimore, chisox, KC, toronto. Not a winning team in the next 23 games. Not a bad stretch to make up some ground.

In fact, in the remaining games, the yankees only play 23 games against winning teams: Cleveland (who i think is about to fall off)(3), Detroit(8), LA(3) Boston(6), Seattle(3).

I agree that catching up to boston may be unrealistic, unless we can cut the deficit in half by the end of this weak stretch. The yankees problem is consistency, if they can become more consistent they would definitely make it. Additionally, I just have a feeling that the M's and the Indians are going to fade. The indians staff is too weak, and the M's are mediocre on both offense and pitching.

James...Explain to me the unfinished game that we have to play...Do we just have to play that unfinished inning or complete the game til the bottom of the ninth...

continue the game from the point where it stopped, then play it until it ends like it was a regular game.

Doesn't look so bleak at this point does it? 7 back of boston and 6 back of cleveland.

Check out the remaining strength of schedules:

Seattle: 71 games remaining, 30 against +.500 teams
Cleveland: 68 games remaining, 37 against +.500 teams
Minn: 68 remaining, 38 against +.500 teams
Yankees: 70 Remaining, 23 against +.500 teams
Boston: 68 remaining, 24 against +.500 teams

This clearly favors the yankees. Cle and Minn have tough schedules, and they play each other a bunch. Seattle has a load of games against LA, so i fully expect the yankees to take the wildcard at the very least.

Having just dropped 2 of 3 to the hapless royals (at home) I would have to agree with you. Also keep in mind that Cleveland, Detroit & Minnesota will be beating up on each other, which helps you guys out even more. If in 10 days, you guys trail us by 5 games or fewer I will officially be very worried.

It's time to get rid of Julian, reactivate Schilling and bring up Lester. That said, I have no faith in our front office to make the right decisions from here on out. We're trying to get Gagne? This baffles me.

im still baffled why you let go of romero...sure he had too many walks, but that's workable. Gagne is a stupid move, he's been injured the last, what 5 years? Julien is definitely not a major league starter.

Fuck the Stats..Start watching games...We're 7 games back compared to 14.5 games back a few weeks ago...Plus we have still 2 more games to play than Boston,,one of which is in the bag...

We're showing real character now,,coming back from behind late on in games..

I watch the Yankees games and the Red Sox games at the same time on 2 TV,s..I see the Yankees going from strength to strength as the Red Sox are falling apart..

Fenway is quiet which is something I've never seen before..

We were in a much worse position than this last year at this time and the Sox were strong...

Look at our next ten games in comparrison to the Red Sox..

Over the next few weeks we will have closed that gap to within a few games and the Sox will shit themselves,,Manny will throw in the towel and want to be a Met and they will implode...

well i can't watch the boston games, but i do watch the yankees games....i still don't think we are playing inspired ball....what i do see is us holding on in those close games which we weren't doing before. We haven't exactly been killing it with the offense.

Plus, those aren't stats i was throwing up, its the strength of schedule which plays directly in our hands. The next 21 games are against losing teams....we could very well be near the sox by the end of this stretch.

On a side note,,,anybody taking notice of the cubs?
