Lovely set up though, everything is nice and simple. Just got myself an X1 recently. Lovely piece of kit. The encoders feel great.

I love the X1s. Everything is laid out perfectly and all the controls feel great. It really makes using Traktor an enjoyable mixing experience.

As this thread has been quite silent for the past year or so and is now maybe starting to get some life again, I'll post my current setup:

That's most of my DJ gear. All boxed up and has been since I moved which was several months ago. Been busy with life so they haven't gotten any love from me. But that's about to change. Now I'm waiting for a mate to come help me with my speaker shelves and then I can finally have the gear in working order again. Can't wait. I've bought some new vinyl which I haven't even listened yet and for the past few days I've been screwing around in Traktor, putting grids on tracks and such and I can't wait to get back to mixing.

what exactly is the point of spending 4K on shit? when you can download virtual DJ for free??? I don't get it. (im a newb). But the pro gear looks the same to me.

Im actually hoping someone with knowledge will reply, We were all newbs once.............................................................................................

What's the point of spending $2,700,000 on a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport when you can walk for free? You're not being serious, are you?

i said, im hoping someone with knowledge will reply, i prefer not to be mocked, you also used quite a lousy metaphor.

The point is that both virtual DJ, and decks, perform the same tasks, One however, -4000. I dont get it...for a few volume twist knobs? and a little track switch slider....must i avoid calling a spade a spade in order to not be mocked!

O.k., you've been in a couple of forums insulting board members at large. I smell alt-trollolololol. No one is this unintentionally stupid.

Maybe it was a lousy analogy or maybe you just don't get it because you're a cheapskate who sits on his money instead of using them to enjoy life. Dunno.

But a Bugatti Veyron and some 5 dollar Toyota "perform the same tasks" as much a Virtual DJ and $4000 worth of proper DJ gear do but some people still buy the Bugatti or the proper DJ gear

I dunno about others, but for me this is a hobby and a hobby only. I enjoy mixing with my hardware gear while I couldn't care less about mixing with Virtual DJ. So I've spent thousands on my gear, just to have fun and enjoy life really. Some people spend that money on fast cars or something else, I've spent it on music and music gear. Also some people want more out of DJing than a hobby. For them playing at home with Virtual DJ makes no sense as when they'd get a gig and would have to use proper gear they wouldn't know what the fuck to do so for them the thousands spent on gear might actually be a good investment.

Good reply. THX im a poor bastard i live paycheck to paycheck and i have to settle for the 2nd banana, So to ME it doesn't make sense, only because im a broke jew. But really, what am i missing out on, is really what i was intending to ask, not to bash the stupidity of people for buying the real deal.. if u catch my drift.

Let's keep this on topic lads

Trancearound, I suggest you open up a new thread if you'd like to ask the question to the general dj booth. While I also think the question is slightly pointless who knows. Other people might have different answers. Either way let's keep this thread in line with it's title.

I simplified my set up recently and made some covers for my cdj's while they're not in use.

Only saw this now mate.

I still have them. Not sure I'd ever let go of them. I purchased some second hand cdj1000mk3's as every time I was playing out the 1210's the clubs have are pretty beat up. Calibrating traktor etc was always something I was slightly worried about. In the end I decided to switch over to cd timecode as I never have to worry about it calibrating etc. I'm trying to think of a way to suspend my cdj's above my turntables.. Don't have much money at the moment though so thinking of a DIY solution
