I've built my own little mancave (small night club?) in my detached garage, where I have all my DJ buddies over to play tunes, drink a few beers, and have a good time. It's been a work-in-progress over the past 3 years.
Here's my friend Terry rocking a techno set:
And just a quick video of me testing the light bars:
Setup consists of:
2 x QSC K12's (no sub... it's PLENTY for this space)
2 x Technics 1210's
2 x Pioneer CDJ-800s
Pioneer DJM-500
Traktor S4
Late model 15" Macbook Pro
4 x American DJ Mega Bar 50
Some little Chauvet RGB controller
Custom bar/booth
Good times
Thats really nice, I wish i had the space to do something like that.
The garage is what sold me on the house, lol. It's about 1100 square feet.
Got a great deal, too...foreclosure ftw!
Fucking hell man, that is awesome
Update with 2 1210 :
Nice, not my choice of needles tho.
Who cares what needles they're using? Maybe that's what was in their price range.

Yeah, it was a bit harsh, which is why I edited it - but my point still stands. You may as well have asked them why they don't have M5Gs
Ok lets go with your plan. We don't know wuts their price range when they have good Techs and Allen & Heath mixer well over 2,000 in today's prices. You say they can't afford 300 dollar needles to go with that? You dont know the story to that except the guy who posted the pic in the first place, but in assumption he does have the means just by looking at the pic. There is hardly any difference in sound quality when using m5g's just better tracking and golden RCA's. However needles, yes there is a difference in sound quality. So just lets be you and say yeah fuck him who cares what needles he's using, ok done next pic.
That top wooden ledge looks like its about to brake.
You forgot to point out how you wouldn't use those needles.

Originally posted by Adam420 I have a pretty sick setup (Xone 42, x2 MKII's, x2 CDJ-850) and I still use the Shure M44's. Yes, I spent a lot of money on my setup, but putting it into perspective, I don't think I payed too much for what I got. On the other hand, paying $250-$300 for a pair of needles, still seems quite expensive and I haven't been able to get myself to do that. So I don't think your theory holds very well that if you have the money for the equipment you shouldn't have a problem making that extra investment into the needles. Plus any money I can save I rather put into buying records. |
Yes it was all second hand but the CDJs and the mixer were only 2-3 months old so almost new. And I had work done on the decks (switch to gold plated, self-ground RCAs, etc...). I mean I'm definitely a guy that would spend an extra $100 to buy the better product but IDK, maybe I have just never seen/heard anything hat convinced me I'd be significantly better off with the Ortofons.

I think This needle is suitable for music of dance music such as the heavy base or drum. |

Originally posted by Juan Paulino Its only common sense, if you got the money get it and if you don't its not my problem. obviously if you have the amount of money that you spend on the gear then of course get ortofons, but it looks like you said that all your gear is second hand and thats exactly what i wasn't talking about in my theory that you mentioned. Bottom line, if your gonna get best of the best (sick setup) get ortofons, and if your happy with what you have the i guess thats fine also. Second hand stuff with shure's makes sense, have fun with that. |
