can anyone recommend a non-wobbling cdj stand for 2x2000 cdj nxs that will fit on a standard ikea expedit 4x2 shelf? the depth is 39cm.

i've got this very wobbly sefour stand that i'd like to replace.

Soo I was looking for a vestax mixer that could compete with my xone and found one. I personally prefer this one more. Now the xone sits on the treadmil for party and friendly use only. Def won't sell it.

Posted by henke on Jan-29-2015 21:14:

Hope this works, here's my shit from years ago. Maybe 2005.

There's 1210s, a xone 62 mixer, denon minidisc deck, denon twin cd deck, the old fashioned pre CDJ type. Err a Roland sp808 and some sennheisers.

Posted by Mattsanity on Apr-04-2015 21:47:

^nice. I got 2 techs and a xone 62 as well. hard to believe I last posted 2 years ago. nothings really changed except for my average Sennheiser HD 280 headphones.

Posted by Innocence Lost on Apr-04-2015 22:29:

Nice set up Matt. I recently got the sennhiesers hd8's and boy do they rock. I got them for a nice discounted price 260.00

Posted by Mattsanity on Apr-04-2015 22:39:

word. those seem dope. my headphones technically aren't even for dj use. they're borderline casual headphones. I guess they work decently though.

Little update to my set up..

after much ummmming and ahhhing, much testing of it and finally getting NI to tell me how to use the hardware mixer instead of the software mixer when using Traktor software, I bought an S8

all I need to do now is buy another stand for my vinyl decks...

Nice setup Sarah!

Did they fix that issue or was it always a possibility?

And if I were you, I'd pop the Technics on the stand, and get CDJ stands that float above Technics, in the gap between the speakers and the laptop.

I actually built some out of galvanised plumbing pipes, connectors and elbows and some MDF. Look rather nice even if I do say so myself.

they fixed it in the latest version of Traktor and a firmware update to the S8

Mixing with the touch strips is also remarkably easy to get used to plus beat gridding is easier to achieve through the S8 hardware instead of trying to do it in the software.

I find I am still looking at the laptop though, for browsing tracks, but everything else can all be done on the S8 without needing to look at the laptop at all, setting up cue points, setting up loops etc and the other thing I like about it is, once you have set up a loop you can save it and assign to one of the buttons, so you can set up to 8 cue points per track and 8 loops per track, the loops can be a 1/4 beat up to 32 beats.

The remix decks and the Stems decks are amazing, still have a lot to learn with the remix and Stems decks but what I have dabbled with so far has impressed me!

It also integrates with my CDJ 2000s as well, can still use the CDJs to control decks C & D in traktor with full pitch / jog wheel control or use them stand alone through the mixer, same as the technics, in theory I can mix with 8 decks, 4 in traktor, 2 cdj and 2 vinyl.
The FX it takes from the software but can be applied to CD and Vinyl as well, overall a very good piece of kit.

I used the S8 for the first time in a club last night, was DJing for 5 hours and it never missed a beat, was a risk taking it and not my CDJs but it performed brilliantly!

in the DJ Booth.

Will the S8 help in that? are there serato options?

The more I use it, the more I like it, the more functional I find it, I do think that its a very good solution.
There is no need to prepare your music in advance, Traktor will analyse tracks as they are loaded into it so yes, you can plug a random harddrive into a computer and play them instantly.

I will say, I still find browsing for tracks is easier on the laptop, when using the S8 to browse, you select a folder, load a track then go back to the directory to choose your next track, the S8 always goes back to first folder in alphabetical order, so then you have to scroll through the whole music directory from A to Z where as on the laptop, you don't.
that really needs sorting out by Native Instruments and then you could truly use the S8 without ever having to look at the laptop.

The S8 is purely designed for Traktor, so there is no serato option however Pioneer are doing various controllers based on serato and now of course their own DJ software, RekordBox DJ...

A small alteration in my set up...

Just until I get some brackets for the CDJ 2000s
