Giambi is another great example: 4 hr's 11 rbi's hes won two games in a row for Yanks by himself, Mussina is slumping at the wrong time!

He always does.

who's pumped for the Phillies showdown at Shea?

starting now, and during the road trip through hell (Florida, Atlanta, St Louis), Mets bats (especially Mr. $119 Million) really gotta wake up

by any chance, anyone coming up from Philly to see their team lose the wild card lead?

Behold, my arse.

Posted by partyhopper on Sep-01-2005 03:11:

dammit, so damn close...
Mets were a win away from taking first place in the wild card race, but then Pedro put up a stinker

nothing comes easy for these guys, but they'll find a way to get it done

They will. I'm all in. They have my undying support from now until they are officially/numerically out of it.

Units back at least for a day..

Posted by Vlad on Sep-03-2005 23:47:

Who is this Small guy? 4 hit shutout complete game? Maybe Mussina's injury is a blessing in disguise?

Posted by Vlad on Sep-06-2005 04:44:

I was just thinking, are they gonna take down the old Yankees Stadium when they build the new one? Cause that would just be sacreligious.

Posted by Shamez214 on Sep-06-2005 04:45:

Yes. They are. They're leaving the diamond and turning that into a park. The OF monuments and stuff will also stay where they are. Everything around them is peaced out, yo.

Damn, atleast they are gonna leave the field and arent moving monument park.

Of course, these are all "plans." For all we know, the Yankees could be playing in Yankee Stadium for another 100 years.

Not unless they completely fix the entire stadium.

Looks like Barry Bonds might be back in action tonight. I'm quite curious to see how he would do if he does indeed play. Even though I quite dislike the guy I still respect his talent.

I think the new stadium is a good thing and I think it will happen as planned. I can't wait for $20 hot dogs too....

Posted by phuzzyfish12 on Sep-06-2005 18:28:

It is in the works for the New Stadium to be done by 2009 (I think) by law since they are going to be taking existing City Park land to build the new stadium they have to return it to the city in some way therefore they are taking down the existing stadium to replace the park land. $20 hot dogs I am sure....last year for my season tickets I put down $100 deposit for each seat, this year same seats, same plan, $150 deposit, looks like they're gettin ready to pay for the new stadium. Oh and I sure you all know this ballpark will have less seats then the one right now, so again ticket prices going up.....or are we just paying for Randy Johnson in some sick way??

Posted by Vlad on Sep-06-2005 18:53:

I think we are paying for A-Rod.

Actually Texas pays $9 million of Pay Rod's $25 million salary. The Big Bust makes $16 million so it's the same. But A Rod is nearly vying for the triple crown so I think we'll all take that. We're not getting our money's worth with Randy but all he needs to do is make it up at the end of the season.... but don't hold your breath.

In the meantime, I'm hoping Wang will be back shortly in the same form as before. Just please God get rid of Leiter.

with tonight's comeback, and beating Rivera in the 9th, those pesky Devil Rays clinched the season series against the Yanks, with a 10-4 advantage

Posted by Shamez214 on Sep-07-2005 02:24:

Yay Mets! They should've traded for Manny.

Wang is scheduled to pitch Thursday taking the spot of Mussina, not Leiter.

Devil Rays own the Yankees!

I posted this in the sports discussion but I'd thought to do it here since Shamus is my buddy.

National League Cy Young Race. My opinion:

1. Cris Carpenter
2. Roger Clemens
3. Pedro Martinez

Here's the stats to backup my thinking:

----- IP - ERA - WHIP - WINS - HR Alw - Opponent OPS:
C Car 220 - 2.21 - 0.97 - 21 - 15 - .578
Roger 189 - 1.57 - 0.92 - 11 - 8 - .504
Pedro 195 - 2.95 - 0.92 - 13 - 19 - .578

----- Run Supp - CG - Quality Starts
C Car 5.2 - 7 - 27
Roger 3.6 - 1 - 24
Pedro 5.0 - 3 - 21

Pedro's weakness is clearly the long ball. Roger has quite a bit lower OPS surely attributable to only allowing 8 homers. That's why his ERA is so astronomical, he doesn't give up the big ones. Compare that to Randy Johnson who has given up a whopping 29 HR's. In comparison to history, Roger's ERA is clearly mind boggling! Pedro's run support is actually almost the same as Carpenter but Roger's is clearly worse than all. However, I give the slight nudge to Carpenter over Roger just because he has 7 complete games which is saying to me he doesn't tire his bullpen as much. Plus, he's giving his team longer production of great pitching giving his team more assured wins because it's not left up to the bullpen to decide the game. Lastly, I think Carpenter has been the most consistent start to start as seen with his quality starts. He has one more start than Roger and Pedro but has nearly 3 more games of innings. Again, he eats more innings.

Carpenter is also in first, Houston looks like a strong wild card, and the Mets are in last but that really isn't Pedro's fault but still, a point in talking about valuable to ?

Just my thoughts...

Red Sox vs. Yankees tonight and no discussion on it. Times have changed....

Prediction: Yanks take 2/3

I'm going to the game tonight, should be a good one. Fat guy crotch grabber vs. Aaron Small (the Yankees ace).
