| Originally posted by LeopoldStotch i am sure it sounds moronic, but it's all about taking risks. in the business world, taking risks is going on everyday. if you play it safe your whole way, thinking you have the right formula set for your team, you never know what you can get if you take that risk. gordon and deng are awesome i have to say, but i am sure the bulls can pull a 2 for 2 trade, like marion and bell(who i think is very underrated. he's a really good pg/sg) for gordon and deng. |
There needs to be more talk here about just how amazing the Spurs are. Can you say 5th championship? Because I know Duncan has at least one more left.

1. Whomever gets to the Finals from the East will get absolutely ANNIHILATED by the Western representative.
2. One injury to the big 3 superstars and the Celtics are toast. No bench. Zero, zilch, none. Pierce, Allen aren't exactly spring chickens either who both missed significant time last year.
3. Celtics have at most a 3 year life. Blazers...that's a 10-12 year life. Ainge offered the Pierce and the 5th pick for the #1 pick before th draft. That clearly demonstrates the value of my man Greg Oden. It will take a couple of years, but the Blazers will be a power just when the Spurzz, Suns, etc. are dying down.
4. No free agent has ever left Portland that was meaningful or that Paul Allen (richest owner in sports) wanted back. That's because you can sign you own free agents for greater salary. Plus, living in Portland is pretty sweet when the Blazers are doing well. Oden loves Portland and will never leave. You see, if you follow basketball you'd know how loyal, humble of a guy he is.
5. Jumping off and on a bandwagon (I hate the NBA....no wait... I love the Celtics now... no wait....) just doesn't cut it with me. Your credibility is GONE!
Oh yeah Man U will CRUSH Chelski this year. Destroy. Bludgeon.
By the way, Lamarcus Aldridge is gonna be a Superstar very very soon. That guy is a baller. He's like a not psycho RaWeed Wallace.

both of you stop bitching. anyways, so reggie miller wanting to be a celtic? these people dont get it. it doesnt matter what team they go, the spurs will dominate the NBA for the next couple of years. And, Brain, the Blazers are not going to do shit anytime soon. Greg Oden is no Duncan.

Alban called me Brain...... that's nice of him. Yikes...
I look forward to 15 years of Oden in a Blazers uniform. Lance can try to annoy me but it doesn't my man. Sorry. I simply know basketball, Oden, and the Blazers more than you so I'm not worried. Not even .000000001% that he'll leave.

Simple. The blazers have signed all their recent contracts for 2 years with an option for the third. That includes Travis Outlaw and Steve Blake. That's because the Blazers will be 29 million under the cap in 2009, setting up the Blazers to give max contracts (or longer 6 year contracts) to their core players (+ Brandon Roy and Lamarcus Aldridge) that same year. Tom Penn, the new asst GM, was recently hired from Memphis purely on his skills as a collective bargaining guru. He's an ex lawyer.
What talented rookie in the NBA in the last 15 years has left after his first contract? Wasn't Lebron James supposed to leave Cleveland? Wasn't Carmelo supposed to leave Denver? It just doesn't happen because those teams grew up with those teams (loyalty) and can get more money (longer contract) from the original team.
Say the Blazers have Roy and Aldridge and even other upcoming players like Frye and Outlaw. They are winning and growing to be contenders. He would want to leave that? Makes no sense sorry. Greg Oden already said how Portland is a perfect city for him. And said he would love to spend the next 15 years with them. I just don't see him as the type of guy who is disloyal. He's exactly the opposite of that if you see him in the interviews. Likewise, the Blazers go berserko of getting the #1 pick, spend it on Oden, and then intend for him to leave? Right.
thanks for answering that... I just found it odd, cause I would think the standard would be 3 guaranteed years... but I'll take the Cap excuse I suppose...
ok now back to being an ASS:
I don't know why he would want to leave, but we soon will find out...lol...
then again, I don't even care about Oden or Durant anymore, because we got our STUD on the EAST coast... so they can both wither away in obscurity in the WEST for all I care...
Sorry, Brian. :]
Yeah because teams seem to wither away in the west nowadays...where 7-8 teams were better than Cleveland last year and the first 2 franchise draft picks are located. The Least conference is a junior varsity conference! Everyone knows that. Playing for the right to be swept in the Finals.
Yep, I'm sure free agents will want to go to Boston in 4 years time when Allen, Pierce, and KG are 110 years old and haven't won a damn thing. Better to jump with those old farts then it would be to rise and win multiple championships with Roy and Aldridge for a much longer window.
