so i've been putting money on some games recently and failing miserably (mostly due to poor ncaa, but also hockey). anyway, today i bet on the flyers by 2 (loss unless miracle), caps by 2 (win unless caps goalie sucks balls) and sabres to win. so up until a few minutes ago i though for sure my short betting was over since i would be out of money if they all lost. so i was sitting on espn watching the scoreboard and all of a sudden i see "derek roy gives the puck away" and so i go through the thought process and obviously i have kovalchuk scoring the game winner. it didn't happen then, but 2 minutes later somebody else gives the puck away and then it flashes "goal scored by kovalchuk" and i said "fuck". i was down until a few seconds later when backstrom put one in the open net to cap a 2 goal win against the islanders. this betting shit is hard though. the other day i bet on the wings to beat the islanders at home and they got shut out WHAT THE FUCK. i know this isn't the betting thread, but i still thought it was funny.

you have to have faith. in 2006 nobody expected the bottom 4 seeds in the west to knock out the top 4 after the first round and to have the #8 seed win the conference.. edmonton put it all together that playoff run and took it to 7 games, if it wasn't for roloson getting injured in game 5 or 6 who would have known what would have happened. that's the beauty of the playoffs, you don't know what could happen. although i do agree your two teams should concentrate on making the playoffs one point differential in 5 through 9 in the east, it'll go to the last game of the season i'm sure...

i don't remember exactly, but i thought he got injured in the first game, but maybe i'm wrong. what i do know is that immediately after the backup came in, carolina scored what would be the game winning goal on miscommunication between the goalie d-man.

you might be right, i'll need to go and check. either way, what i was getting at is the #8 seed could make it to game 7 of the stanley cup final.

that's not nice. although i do hope the caps have a good match up in the first. i've talked to a couple people and we are so down to making the trip to dc for a game. i hope the same goes for the devils and rangers because i'm going to try to get to see a couple playoff games if i can.

Rolie was injured in Game 1 of the 2006 finals. The Oilers name was written on the Cup prior to that in my opinion, he was in the best form of his life going into that series and the rest of the team had so much chemistry. All of the pieces seemed to fit into place at the perfect time...oh well, c'est la vie

I absolutely loved Rolly when he played in Finland, be it in a rival team or not. LOVED HIM

Hehe I still love him now

I'm so happy he's rediscovered something like his form of 2006 lately. If there's one player giving the Oil a chance at the playoffs at the moment it's Dwayne

Posted by smellyblack on Apr-02-2009 16:41:

it was cam ward's destiny to win that year. Even with Dwayne, it would not have mattered.

"The Line" seems to be living up to it's expectations.

Saku 1+1, Tan-Gay 1+0 and Kovalev 0+3

Any idea how many points they've made since they were put together? That'd be the last, what? 4-5 games?

Posted by chimera66 on Apr-03-2009 12:03:

how have the canadiens played against pittsburgh? i'm thinking of trying to get tickets next saturday.

Posted by bamski on Apr-03-2009 12:18:

I don't know how they've played against eachother, all I know is I wanna come too

Posted by Deeks1187 on Apr-04-2009 03:27:

I had to post, I've been waiting for a win for two weeks now

not a guarantee i'm going though, going to montreal with an avid rangers fan and an apathetic hockey fan so not sure how excited they would be to go with me. i want to see a game that means something though because it'll come right down to the wire on the east. first have to see if i can get three tickets. i know i can get myself in but not the other two.

Tempted to get some tix for the sharks/ducks game tomorrow. Two days playing the ducks I hope fuels a strong run into playoffs.

Friend of mine gets his dream fullfilled right there, his dream (as mine) has always been to see an NHL game. His cousin moved over there and now he invited him over

I wish I had moar cousins

i see that the bruins and their frog coach reverted to old devils hockey when their luck ran out playing real hockey. that's a shame as they are extremely boring. hopefully although i don't have to hope, they will see a quick exti from the playoffs for hockey's sake as well as ratings.

I hope to see the the B's do well but not too well.

Posted by Deeks1187 on Apr-05-2009 05:12:

just to point out, the hsbc center has the best goal scoring horn ever! i actually lol when i hear it once buffalo scores

Posted by L.E.N. on Apr-05-2009 06:29:

Sharks are playing like they want to live up to the "choke post season "pattern.
