milo:: those are Pioneers cdj 800's right??
wish i could get an 800 but black... whats the difference? (besides color!)

Posted by zack3082 on Feb-21-2004 00:45:

how do you like your ppd01?
i want to get one. thing is i used my mixer for a while and thought it was the bomb.com, then i used a pioneer 500, and that kinda ruined the way i look at my mixer.

my question to you is, is your mixer a good quality mixer? and is it good to mix trance or do they use them for scratching? and how are the fx on it too?

yeh, quality... The ST(R-8)-100 is the highest version stanton made itself. The don't make the st150 themselves. It has a nice torque, cool blue lights, decent pitchfader, but it also has a preamplifier. And that tends to get broke... mine did three weeks ago... you remind me, I should call stanton to ask them when they will deliver my turntable back... First thing tomorrow.

But, anyway, Ya, I think they're quality and I would still prefer an ST100 over an sl1200 cuz of one reason: the price. You save 200€ that you can spend on vinyl. It's cool to have sl1200's but if you don't have decent vinyl it sucks. Do you really need the 0.01% pitch presission and the almost perfect sound quality the sl1200 gives you at home? I don't, that's why I've chosen the ST100.

Posted by _-MIl0 on Feb-23-2004 03:19:

well said, also after playing on the str8-100 i find that im alot better when mixing in the club on 1200's just becouse the str8-100 makes you think more, over all in the end i think it makesyou a better dj

Heh same exact setup as me, only difference is Im getting Shure Whitelabel carts and Pioneer headphones.

My Custom Table

I posted that blueprint in the Custom Tables thread as well. I will probably begin work on that table in the summer, but its still up in the air... either way, whenever it does happen, thats what will be in my room. Minus some of the expensive equipment. Before the year is over... My setup should look like this:

2x Technics SL-1210 mk2
Allen & Heath Xone:62
Pioneer HDJ-1000
Shure Whitelabels
Event TR8XL Monitors
Denon DN-S5000
Access Virus KC (unsure if I will be able to afford the synth this year, but Im hoping that Ill save enough for it)

Not only that, but that's bullshit. The pitch is analog, there is no difference in pitch precision between turntables. And sound quality is all in your cartridges....so again, they're the same.

Posted by Tiger777 on Feb-23-2004 17:35:

not true.
The pitch might be analog, but there is a certain precision. The SL1200's are 0.025% accurate while the ST100s are 0.20% accurate. Maybe slightly noticable, but still, there is a difference

What sound quality is concerned:
rumble >78dB (DIN B) for the SL1200 and
More than 50dB (DIN-B) for the ST100

There is also a difference in the tonearm. It's just better quality with less chance of skipping. If you do a backspin with an STR8-30 you have a much higher chance of skipping. The technics tonearms will almost never cause any skipping.

You can't say that an st100 is better than an sl1200 'cuz that simply is impossible. You cant have a better machine for 100€ less. As always, you get what you pay for. The ST100 isn't a cheap turntable either, but it's still inferior to the sl1200. Not TOO inferior, but technics are proffesional equipment for clubs and people with alot of money, while the ST100s are for people who dj at home with a smaller budget.
