That was exactly why Israel invaded Lebanon. The PLO were launching attacks on Israel from Lebanese territory. The Israelis wanted to smash the PLO in Lebanon, which they did.

you're right, its called self defense.

The Israelis also wanted to smash the Syrians who at the time had the most control over Lebanon. Which they also did. To that effect the Israeli government provided military and political support to the Christian faction of the Lebanese (the Phalange) with the intent of getting them into government and then obtaining a peace treaty in favour of Israel.

ahhhh, so israel wanted a government who would seek peace with it. damn those pasifists hippies in israel
there is a big difference between supporting a govenment who would be on peaceful terms with you and a government who is your puppet. yes isreal wanted to put in govenment a party that would be more favourable to coencide peacefully with its neighbours, no israel did not want to set up a puppet government, one which israel could slap around into doing everything it wanted.

If that wasnt why the Israelis invaded Lebanon then you tell me why they did it then.

you're right about the intentions just next time you post watch for the rhetoric.

Syria should've never sieged Israel from the Golan Heights in the first place. The loser looses his land.

That categorically is'nt what happened in the 1967 war.

But your attitude sums up the attitude of most Israelis quite nicely.

Syria will get the Golan Heights back and there will be an independant Palestinian state based on land stolen from them no matter how much Israel and America oppose it.

I once read an article about the late President Assad who on his deathbed told his son "Never make peace with Israel" I dont know whether that story is true but it wouldnt suprise me.

Well, it is according to un-bias history.

I'm Jewish and I speak on behalf of Israel b/c ppl like you don't know history. That land, along with some of the West Bank, is used as a buffer zone so Israel can have more of a fighting chance to stop terrorism.

Why don't you quote random Palestinians and I bet they'll say the same thing. A huge majority of Palestinians believe that all of Israel belongs to them despite the UN's Resolution 181.
