It's so sad to see many of my fellow Americans completely brainwashed with this war. I'm so glad I moved to Europe and get to see the real news, not CNN or FoxNews.
Anyhow, whoever says it's gay for a DJ to publicly express his views on the war or any issue not related to music is a hopeless ignorant. I recommend you take a couple of art history and/or music history courses so you learn about how social circumstances have shaped culture and how art has reacted to these various discourses.
This reminds me of when Beethoven was composing his 3rd Symphony inspired on Napoleon's republican and anti-monarchic ideals and was even going to call it the Napoleon symphony. However, when Napoleon's true imperial intentions became known Beethoven completely lost his temper and composed a mad crazy symphony where you can hear his angst and dissapointment with Napoleon. He crossed out the dedication to Napoleon and changed the name to the Eroica symphony. My favorite
Trance is art, art is mostly made by idealist people who usually fall left of center. Face it, it has always been like that and it will always be the same. If you don't like that fact and can't live with it then support some right wing art instead. Good luck finding it.
Also, PvD is a cultural ambassador to a country that opposes the war(Germany), so he's even more qualified to represent his country that way. If you'll stop supporting PVD because of his expressed views on the war then don't worry about it, I'm sure he won't miss ya

You're making it seem like Bush is saying "Go kill those stupid Iraqi civilians", when in reality he's trying to give them freedom they well damn deserve. So you're saying you'd let Saddam continue what he has been doing for the past 2 decades, killing millions, and I mean millions of his own people while the world stands there and does nothing??? Proof is out there, just ask any Iraqi citizen, and they'll give you the whole truth about Saddam's wrongdoings. I pity your French government-influenced mind. |
Most of this thread belongs in the good old Political Flame Zone...forum...whatever
but I think the main post deserves responding to.
See, there's this thing called freedom of speech that people tend to like until someone says something that they don't want to hear...and PvD is exercising his freedom to say what he wants on his web site.
You can bitch about it, and you can boycott his shows over it if you're really that upset, but the fact remains that he has every right to say what he pleases on his own web site.
Surprise, he's against the war like a vast majority of the world is, if you can't deal with a dissenting opinion you're definitely living in the right country, but you need to stop reading international forums and web sites, because everywhere else people still seem to be interested in listening to the other side, and thinking over their own stances instead of just blindly going along with the main line, and refusing to even give dissenters the time of day, let alone respect.

Bush and Blair took the initiative themselves, without the approval of the UN.. approval they didn't get because the inspectors hadn't found any weapons of mass destruction, the initial reason for this war. why did Bush actually change his motives for going to war from weapons of mass destruction to "iraqi freedom"? |

Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. Thas why were at war, personally I dont agree, and I dont think things like that should be said after a war is taking place, its not fair to troops, but then again Paul's countrymen decided not too join this war, so Im sure its kind of hard for him to be empathetic.
