-- What song got you into electronic music???

Euro for me and PVD's for an angel got me started....
In Trance We Trust
If we're talking electronic music in general I was big into industrial music starting around 1995 (KMFDM being my fave...) and I ended up branching out into other things from there, Juno Reactor, Praga Khan, DJ Akira, so forth.
My first foray into Trance/Prog was Sasha's Xpander EP...
It's all about Prodigy!!

| Originally posted by Cobalt Oh yeah, I forgot about Prodigy. I first heard "Breathe" and then picked up a copy of "The Experience," which is probably what got me into electronica in general first. Then I picked up Swedish Egil's Elektronik and heard Ajare and Anomaly (Calling Your Name). I took off from there, which was sometime over five years ago (of course that's nothing compared to some people here ). |
Hmm, actually I was listening to probably the first "techno" albums I ever bought - The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld and UFOrb, after a friend of mine in 9th grade had a brother who lived in London where dance music first started picking up... Then from there, my friend The Rock got me into Euro like La Bouche, Le Click, Real McCoy, Amber, then into Brooklyn Bounce... the song that got me into Trance had to be Carte Blanche, which I heard on a Judge Jules radio show when I went to London for a school trip in '99, and the album that got me into Trance was either Oakenfold's Global Underground in NYC or Tranceport 1...
most prob stuff live.. Skydive - Freefall, Blank & Jones - Cream, Ariel - A9, Crazy Malamute
all the songs from around the 98-2000 period, but it was only about late 2001 that i started to get really deeply into music
For the first time in life I heard electronic music it was when my brother's friend brought him a cassete with -Technotronic- on it.I remember I liked it.
I was like 6-8 years old
After that I listened to -KLF- , 2 Brothers on the 4 floor , Maxx , Ice MC , 2 Unlimited & stuff like these,
after that I started to get to Rap , Hip-Hop Music, I became a hardcore rapper , Snoop Doggy Dogg & Dr.Dre were gods than, I was like 16 y/o than
After I connected to the net in 2000, I discovered a new world , a world of trance
& now I am addicted , OMG I'm f**king addicted
i didn't realize we were going this far back. i'd have to say for a lot of people i know NiN was a big introduction to electronic music with "Closer", then for me came prodigy, the fat of the land was a great album. it all started with seeing the video for firestarter, what a great introduction to EDM
. industrial techno sounded so cool, but nothing else was mainstream for a while, then they started playing eurodance crap (just my opinion - got nothing against anybody taht likes it) a couple of years later on the local "play-everything-800-times-a-day-so-that-it-gets-old-really-quick" radio station. everybody started calling it "techno" but it was completely eurodance. and then my boss at my summer job went to germany for some show and came back with a dreamdance (i think #13) and a UK garage CD. garage wasn't my thing but dreamdance grew on me (not the eurodance songs, but the *good* stuff
).
yeah as if anybody really wanted to know
Orbital - Halycon on+on!!!!!!!!!!!! Hackers soundtrack!
I've always been interested in instrumental music with piano/synths and stuff. This may not qualify but Vince DiCola in the Rocky 4 and Transformer movie soundtracks are my all time favs.
What got me hooked to trance was Brainchild-Symmetry C (Lange's Breakbeat mix) from Oakey's EM at space Ibiza back in 2000 (i know it happened in '99 but 2000 is when i heard it).

Robert Miles - Children
here comes my shameful confession:
It had to be Darude-Sandstorm. That beat was unbelievable the first 1000 times I heard it...then it was just agony the next million.
But then Lost Tribe-Gamemaster got me into good trance, since tranceport was the first album I ever bought.
I liked it soo much that the same day I then went out and bought 'Another World'
French Electronic Music is also so great
Hi everybody.
I just arrive in this forum and in this website, and i found it very interesting. I wanted to congratulate all of you to interest you as much in the music. I am also an unconditional of music. I do not conceive the life without it.
The song who got me into electronic music was the soundtrack of Midnight Express : The Chase (1978) by Giorgio Moroder.
However, in my point of vue, the best electronic music is really from France. I think of a french group very good called "Air". I only would like to kindly request you to listen to the track entitled "Electronic Performers". This is for me the best electronic track of all-time, all over the world... Listen to it, and tell me after what do u think. [email protected]
