lol
whoa, ok now guys, no need to fight over this
we all have opinions about this and we all have been ripped off at one time or another. i find its ok to sell a ticket to a sold out show for a bit more, but some ppl ask $80-$90 for them, and come the day of the show, i guarantee there will be some twat asking $100. now those ppl are real bastards :\

Posted by spenkew on May-27-2003 20:55:

Sad

and i'm still trying to get a ticket.... looks like i won't be going...

you attempted to insult me by using an invalid argument (that my age would have some factor), so i was simply pointing out that it is ironic that someone of your obviously much older age does not have a grasp of basic grammar points.

but, that is not the only thing i pointed out. the crux of my argument was that telling me that my age has something to do with me being "bitter" about you selling tickets for twice as much, is ridiculous. i notice that you chose not to address that point in your response to me. i am interested in hearing it.

Posted by Sean Walsh on May-27-2003 21:37:

Christ people, chill =)

If people are wiling to pay $100 at the door for tickets, then I see no problem with selling them for that much. There are scalpers out there that will do this for any and every show that they think will sell out, so I see no problem with cashing in on it yourself. I couldn't see myself doing it, but seems like an easy way to make a little money.

Posted by wienerschnitzel on May-27-2003 21:53:

Im not trying to rip on anyone for selling tickets at ridiculous prices... my boyfriend wanted to buy extra tickets to sell as well to make money to help pay for our trip but i didn't like the sound of it and as it turned out we had a difficult time finding tickets anyways! I would pay a ridiculous amount to see tiesto because im crazy about him but i would also feel pretty shitty about the ridiculous amount of money i did pay. I don't know where to draw the line between right and wrong about scalping tickets! The only thing i know is that the show is going to be great and i hope to see you all there!

Posted by sothis on May-27-2003 22:36:

sean:

i understand that people will always rip people off at the door.. but that is only half my issue.

i consider the western canada part of TA to be fairly close knit and personal. i have met most of you (and/or see a lot of you at every single show i go to up there), and consider you to be my friends.

theres a difference between a random scalper trying to rip off people at the door, and someone who is PART of this small community, ripping off their friends/acquaintances. thats my issue. that someone would come on here and blatantly be charging double the price. there definitely is a huge gap between ripping off people you don't know, and ripping off people in a small community that you are a part of.

Posted by Sean Walsh on May-27-2003 23:59:

I agree with you in that respect, and that's probably why I wouldn't do it. Or at least, I wouldn't advertise here and I'd just sell to randoms. I'd feel like a dick if some TAs couldn't get tickets who I knew would absolutely love the show, when I had 5 extras that I was unwilling to part with for less than 3x the price. If it was just some random dude who barely even knew what Tiesto or Trance music was wanted to pay me $100, sure.

Posted by SparcZ on May-28-2003 00:28:

it could be worse i could work for Twisted Productions and have them shut off the water at the plaza of nations, over sell the event so people in line can't get in and the list goes on...you buy bulk you get a discount...you buy one then you pay more and that's the way it goes...

now back to the topic DJ Tiesto -> I hope he plays some uplifting stuff because I love his sets and the commodore will rock! That is the best venue in Van for sure

Posted by apri_peel on May-28-2003 01:17:

kim is right, i felt bad selling my ticket to a TA
thats why i just went to clubvibes

but yes, back to the subject:
from listening to tiesto's sets for this year, i would expect a harder set. tiesto might decide to play soft tho. as long as he plays ten, obsession (frank biazzi remix), adagio for strings (tiesto rework), 3rd earth and sirocco's destination, i will be happy

Posted by Warez Guy on May-28-2003 03:52:

This'll be my first show that I'm going to so don't blame me if I'm asking any stupid questions. On the ticket it says doors open at 9, so what time does it actually start? And where is everybody meeting up and at what time? I thought somebody said at the ATM, but I'm not really framiliar with the area of the show, what atm? is it right out front of the Commodore or some other store? Thanks

Posted by Scarface on May-28-2003 04:35:

what goes around comes around, selling tickets for that kind of price when they are 32$ is ridiculus. if you sell the ticket to a TA for 32 bucks, maybe he or she would help you out some other time when you need tickets or a favor or whatever. people have proabaly ripped you off before and you think its cool to make some money off of people who are mostly young/student who dont have a lot of money. i dont blame you, most people would do the same. its just sad.

Posted by sothis on May-28-2003 06:09:

apri peel: yea. i would be inclined to believe sparcz wont feel like showing up at the TA meetup, since hes so eager to rip us off. or at least, id be pretty surprised if he did. oh, and tiesto did close with arpagio for strings.. tho im bad with names (haha remember armin? how i kept asking you what song it was) so i dont know about the others.

anyways, warez guy, youll see the ATM right when you walk in the commodore ^_^ its on the right, lit up.. cant miss it. we always have TA meetups there

for some reason everyone seems to recognize me (if they havent met anyone before) so id say just look for me they are great fun, all the TA folk are awesome!

doors will open at 9 but tiesto probably wont start till at least 11.. so take your time. i can tell you guys from the seattle show that noel sanger is BORING prog house. so unless you like prog house a lot, dont worry about showing up uber early.

commodore is really easy to find.. just go down granville towards downtown.. and turn right on the road before the one that you have to turn left on (someone know the name? i forget).. theres a parking garage a few blocks down, or pretty much anywhere in that area. once you park, get back on granville, walk the same direction your car was going, and youll see it on your right, along with a bunch of other clubs on the street. you can also look for the glowing neon red "cafe crepe" sign (mm tasty food), its right next door ^_^

Warez Guy,
dude you live in vancouver! isn't it ironic that sothis, who doesn't even live here is giving you directions? haha

for those who don't like paying for parking, I always park on seymour, a block down from Granville, on the street for free!

If you don't find a ticket...

Come on the boat cruise!!! Trance until 5am

Posted by apri_peel on May-28-2003 07:17:

i doubt tiesto will begin at 11, most probably at 12

its a saturday so parking is going to be a MAJOR issue. if you dont want to pay for parking, i suggest you get there very early. also GC gives away CDs at the begining of the show, usually.

so yeah, the meetup is the usually 11pm at the ATM on the right hand side from the stairs. warez guy, we will be a bunch of trance addicted ppl

Posted by Widget on May-28-2003 18:50:

I'll probably head through around 22:00, have a drink before hand - see if I can bump into any of the other TAs abounding.

Just going to be a bit chaotic in my life - moving house/place this weekend to offcampus. No more res - woohooo!

The Pacific Centre Mall is kinda secure even though you have to pay $4 as overnight rate.

What I got from PvD show waz not my favourite cd at all. I know it was free, but...oh! whatever!!!

Posted by D:fuse on May-29-2003 08:58:

You don't need to be a canadian to get these CDs. They need your licence so that they can enter your 'real' address, not something you make up, in their database. They will also have your age too. It is all about marketing people! They want to figure out who goes to their shows, how old they are and if they smoke.
