Dynafire crawls into the corner and sobs....
The last 5am was an utterly amazing night but i can't go tonight...... i just CAN'T!! one exam on monday, 2 exams on tuesday and 2 on thursday...... save playing Yahel - Voyage for when i'm there!!! ........
sob..... But i hope everyone has a fantastic night, it sounds like it will be awesome. Mangler: Maybe you can borrow my copy of voyage for the next 5am? :-)

omg last night was awesome!!!

everything including hearing the greatest new tunes, to pissing off to hear age of love, and also meeting new TAs just made the night bloody awesome

i dont think i have ever seen Dex that packed, and boy was it good - right in that perfect space between busy, and calm where you can go to the bar, and know that youre gonna be served within 30 seconds of waiting. - i loved it

I arrived to the great sounds of Dave Begic warming up the crowd, then hearing to Zac Curran whom i had never heard before, yet still played lots of tunes that i love. Once Steve came on i hit the dancefloor pretty well perminently, floating between the main dance floor and the sideroom, where i would hear a classic oldy then bugger off to the main room and think "holy shit i love this track!!" then jumping down with my buddies to dance the next few hours away. (im just a sucker for silence :P)

Miss Mel also played an excellent set but i was getting prettttty nackered by the end, and had to force myself away from the dance floor at about 5 or so as it felt like someone had put a block of ice down my back and it wasnt moving or melting

i am deeply regretting not staying for jules and reemos set.... and all the other sets after that... lets just say i had some fun getting home and i wish i brought my car :P

As for zac curran, i dont know i havent warmed to his style yet, way too many vocals for my liking, then went in to watch duncan
But left as soon as i heard that tune by armin
and watched steves set which once again did not disappoint...
Argh hearing System F - Solstice with a sound system like that made me and then universal nation ARGH and time is a healer and strange world and the list goes on....

Just a gripe and Dave man i apologise profusely but it was an emotianl saturday and i flaked it after work. But what the fuck is dave one of the most talented Djs in melbourne playing at 1030 in front of empty floorboards? Dave can play the crowd, has the tunes and charisma to play the PTM slots, shame to see such talent wasted imo keep up good work 5am

what a champion, the floor was packed to capacity..with floorboards...but it was awesome!!!

then zac curran came on, easily the lowlight hehe
i thought he started off alright with 'lustral - broken' and 'velvet morning' but then vocal after vocal after vocal after vocal after vocal....and they weren't even really good vocal tracks like armin or jan johnston but just boring un-inspiring stuff. he kept dissapearing and going for walks in the middle of his set too which i thought was a bit strange...

duncan started 30 mins late or so, i think they had problems setting up or something i dunno, and that meant i had to sit through more of zac's set
but then he got going and twas good stuff to be heard. madagascar, gamemaster, 'the whale song', some good tunes. a couple of hiccups mixing wise but hey hes a newbie hehe

steve was next and he rocked as usual,
playing gems like 'yet another dub', 'nothing but crap ', 'strange world', 'cloudwalking' and new from m.i.k.e. 'the gift - love angel'. 'silence' instantly tripled the people on the dance floor too hehe.

miss mel was up next and although we didn't stay for all of her set it was off to a good start with 'matanka - lost in a dream (push remix)', a favourite of mine.

i'd never been to the place before but i reckon it looked pretty good and the sound was good as well. probably would have stayed longer but i had to work at 9am in the morning

it was a good night overall and i look forward to the next one
