Yeah I was saying...they obviously have updated the site since they greyed it out...and for all the other dates when they updated they put that it was cancelled...but they didn't for denver, so I took that as he was actually at denver. I was agreeing with you. Whatever though, i'm almost glad i didn't know cause then i might not have went.

reviews anyone???

It sucked to drive 5 hours and have no PvD. If I only had internet access in my car I couldve turned around after seeing the replies in this thread saying he wouldnt be there. But Kenneth Thomas threw down an great set. He made it not so bad. Lots of other people thought he did great too. The club was pretty cool too. And the vibe was very good. Talked with several people on the dancefloor about LP and stuff and they were all really nice. Was a good night despite not having Paul.

That song that KT played that I couldnt think of the name was Katana-Alesis. I kept thinking of Katana the whole time but the only song I could think of was fancy fair, which I knew wasnt it. Figured it out on the way home yesterday.

maybe you guys should come up for sander @ necto to fill the pvd void

Well anyways, I'm finally recovered from my weekend expedition to not see PVD...
Once again, glad to see everyone who showed up rally and rock the house anyways. The Cleveland crowd was wicked, KT dropped a great set.
Despite my momentary confusion, it was good to hear Binary Finary - 1999 (PVD Remix) for an encore, along with Seven Cities.

Tom, sorry for giving you a fubar'ed CD, if you liked the tracks let me know and I'll hook you up with a corrected version.

anyways, looking forward to the roadie back on October 10th
-nick

BTW, as a funny anecdote, on top of not seeing PVD I ended up booking my return ticket on the wrong day (chalk one up for idiocy) and ended up spending $100 extra to make it back. (DOH!)

Smiley DJ Kenneth Thomas

Yea the night was bumpin! My friend and I talked to kenneth a couple of days before the event, and he told us that pvd wasn't gonna be there. It didn't matter anyways. Kenneth came down to Indianapolis and gave us a show three weeks before, and after that we knew that kenneth would bring in the guns and make the show damn good. Kenneth hooked us up with vip tickets and a picture of my friend and I with kenneth in the dj booth. This guy is the real deal, he is a cool guy who should be up there in the dj charts. I voted him as my favorite dj on thedjlist.com and you should as well. Three of my friends and I drove up from Indiana, a 6 hour drive each way, it was worth it 100%.

Worm Popper

Hello Everyone.

Sorry the event had to turn out the way it did. hopefully my set was enough to cover up at least alittle bit of your disapointment. I had some pretty big shoes to fill and i hope you all still had a good time!

I think the promoters did a satisfactory job of handling the situation. They- as well as PvD's web site- announced on Friday that PvD had cancelled but there was no way they could get onto all the boards to post the info. As for the Edgar V cancellation I didnt even know about it till 2pm Sunday afternoon. I spent the night before with the promoters as well. Please dont take your frustrations out on Tru Club Events. They are working hard to bring the midwest the best progressive events! These things happen. Hopefully we will see everyone back at the make-up date on October 10th.

Thanks again to all those who rocked out with me that night!!

-kenneth Thomas

You are absolutely right about the Katana Part, I played 3 Katana tracks over my 2 & half hour set. My opener was Viframa- Cristalle- Katana mix, followed directly by Goldenscan- Of our times- Katana mix. Later in the evening I also dropped Gemini by Katana. Hope that helps

We apologize to all of the fans of Paul Van Dyk and Edgar V. Unfortunately situations like this happen in the concert industry from time to time. We received a phone call on Friday, July 25th from PVDs agent informing us that he cancelled Friday in Salt Lake City, and Saturday at Red Rocks in Denver. We were informed that there was a chance he would feel better and get on a plane Sunday. PVDs publicist took it upon herself to contact the Plain Dealer with the postponement of the show before it was 100% confirmed. Tru did not notify the Plain Dealer because there was still a chance that he would make the date. We still had our fingers crossed. Unfortunately Paul had not recovered by Sunday and we got a call that he would not be there. Edgar V was also questionable as he took ill Friday night in Miami and was taken off of the turntables at Crobar. Edgar was also still very ill on Sunday and cancelled at 1:00 pm. The odds of a double cancellation are very, very low but it did happen. 2003 has not been the best year for us to say the least. This was truly out of our hands. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

What we are doing for the valued fans of PVD and Edgar V.

1.) any ticket holder was let into the show completely FREE on Sunday. In addition, all ticket holders have a choice. All tickets are 100% valid for the makeup date on FRIDAY, October 10th. If ticket holders are unable or unwilling to attend the makeup date they can receive a 100% refund at the point of purchase, Ticketweb or Grand Poo bas record store. Ticketweb is sending out an email with specific instructions on how to obtain a refund and all the money collected at Grand poo bas will remain there in escrow for refunds until October. 2.) We reduced the cover to only $10 for everyone without a presale ticket. 3.) We personally apologized to almost everyone at the door. 4.) We put together one hell of a show considering the double cancellation.

That explains things a little better. Glad they are making an effort and refunding tickets, that says something.

Posted by ninja_k on Jul-31-2003 16:26:

fair enough. although I'm sure some people would love to have had the choice to come. They could be kicking themselves for not going instead of going.

Sure it's less of a crowd for KT and less money for tru/kaos... but the ~500 I personally dropped for this trip might have been better spent in october instead of now.

such is life. NEXT!

Yea i was very disappointed.

Was nice meeting jdat tho :P

Kenneth, you had the beginnings of a sweet set. Unfortunately I was so physically drained from softball and scuba diving all day that I only was there till like 1:30am.
