Paul Oakenfold - Essential mix from Havana Cuba 1999

transition from Mike Oldfield - Far Above The Clouds to Gouryella - Gouryella

Gives me shivers every time. The two songs couldnt be more different yet he manages to mix em perfectly

Posted by whitesmoke on May-08-2003 02:25:

as of right now my favorite mix is.....

Paul Van Dyk On Radio Oslo.[20-Mar-2003]

02- Schatrax - Misspent Years - Silicon Soul's Darkroom dub
03- Camouflage - Me & You - Humate remix

great chill to energy mix. i can't get enough of it.

The transition that sticks out in my mind is John Digweed Global Underground 019 CD1, Pole Folder and Cp - Apollo Vibes to Satoshi Tomiie - Love in Traffic (John Creamer and Stephane K Remix)

my fav: Sasha GU Ibiza: Space Manoeuvres-Stage one->Sander Kleinenberg-Sacred

Posted by montie on May-08-2003 10:05:

i totaly agree with the Lost Tribe - Game Master into Voco Me

now i always expect to hear voco me after game master. the transition is so seamless.
also i feel teh same way about alot the Sasha transitions on his GU CDs and Northern exposure, but one that hasn't been mention yet is

Breeder - Twilo Thunder --> Jark Prongo - Movin' Through Your System
on GU San Francisco CD 2

this is probably my favorite transition that i know of on a CD.
The change in energy is amazing. Going from the trancy feel and adrenaline build up in the buildup of Twilo Thunder, then when that beat kicks in from Movin' thru your system, you just get your ass kicked, then slowly get taken back down and relaxed with a housey tune as the trancey side from twilo thunder slowly gets taken down. the feeling i get hearing that mix is just undescribable, even if it was made in protools (that mix can be easily replicated on a pair of decks).

yes.

yes.

yes.

Boundaries of imagination was made using protools right?? I used to be impressed with the mixing until I realized that. Any live turntable mix is open to this kind of scrutiny.

my favorite is from ISOS 2 by tiesto--

cass & slide--perception into mekka--diamondback...it is timed so perfectly, both tracks' bass are out, and then the bass starts pounding into diamondback...hard to notice unless you're playing this pretty loud! i'd had this cd for almost 2 years, and just realized how much i loved it a couple months ago...

..mostly because you can't tell between two very different songs!

It could only be Sasha's work.

Nothing will top that, ever.

The only other one that comes to mind is on John Digweed - Bedrock (disk 2) where he mixes Pob & Taylor - Ba Ba (Human Evolution mix) into Escape - Salina

My favorite Trance transition ever is on DJ Tiesto - Magik 6, Delerium - Silence (Tiesto Mix) into Moogwai - Viola (Armin Mix).

Posted by DJ M.G on Jun-27-2003 11:49:

umm,
Paul Van Dyk
radio 1 Dance Party Glasgow
30-5-99

1. Paul Van Dyk 'Another Way' (Radio Edit)
Into
2. Blank & Jones 'Cream' (PvD Rmx)

the records arnt in the mix for long,
but he blends the sweeping end of another
way, into the whooshing beginning of cream.
it just sounds totally amazing!
if you have the set, listen 2 it and see.

the best transition that comes to my mind is on bitte ein beat vol. 4 between starsplash - free and dj dean - balla nation episode II, its the best transistion that i have ever heard.

Posted by Aabech on Jun-30-2004 13:52:

You can't say "perfect, harmonic transition" without saying DJ Tiesto. Some of the mixovers on the Nyana album really stands out for me. For example, in disc one you'll hear Venus into Tears From The Moon into Electronic Malfunction. And on disc two, U Write The Rules into Nothing (93 mix) into Forever Waiting. Whenever I hear one of those tracks, my mind and hear tell me that the following track comes next.. Even if I hear them in a completely different liveset

Armin van Buuren also has some nice ones. Midway - Amazon goes GREAT into As The Rush Comes (AvB mix).

And for FC: check out that World Tour Washington. All class.

Finally Ton TB. I can't get that mix out of my head I heard at TAW once. I think it was Tiesto In Concert warmup... He started off with Air Traffic, mixed Nothing But You, then some Max Walder tune followed by Release Me and finally Carrera 2. WHAT a warmup

That's my pick as well

Amazing stuff there.

And with 'Medway song' you mean Medway - The Baseline Track Still love that track.

happens to me everytime, i used to listen to that album all the time, especially for gamemaster, that mix on boundaries of the imagination is an excellent one, especially the bit after the woman has just said the first 'verse' - amazing. so yeah that would be the one i would nominate too

I'd say the entire CD 1 from GU13 can be seen as one big perfect transition.

Good thread.

Posted by Dan1584 on Jun-30-2004 17:13:

Armin van Buuren - World Tour (Spring 2004)

12 Mark Norman - Phantom Manor
13 Binary Finary - 1998 (Ronski Speed Remix)
14 Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (AvB's Universal Religion Remix)
15 Castaneda - Floor Control (Original Mix)

That was one massively great set of transitions!!!!

What a great thread! Has to be on GU13 Disc 1, Dominica to Medway to Sander K!!!!! And on Disc 2, from Expander to Bluefish-One, goddam its amazing!!!

try to mix F MASSIF - SOMEBODY [FERRY CORSTEN REMIX] => MATT DAREY - NOCTURNAL DELIGHT [SANDLER REMIX]

this is a great transition if ur doing it good!

Paul van Dyk @ Innercity 2001

Taiko - Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro (Die Blechtrommel) (Nick Sentience Mix)

into

Armin van Buuren & DJ Tiesto pres. Alibi - Eternity (Original IC Mix)

This mix is also in his Casino Essential Mix...it's probably the same. He matches up the snares from Uno, Dos... with the metal-bongo sounds from alibi's first minute. A genius little transition.

I'd also say every mix Sasha does (nearly). The man is an absolute wizard on the EQ.
