Why do most immigrants(including myself) still have dual(or in my case even triple) citizenship?? So that in case something doesn't work out here, they can go home. |

My family would have never made it either!! I think there are ways to get around those huge costs. You have to have sponsors and jobs set up too. I dunno exactly. I'm glad that Poland lets you keep dual citizenship.
I think it also depends what country you are moving from too. I hear that if you are immigrating from China you have to have 20 000 in the bank before Cananda even considers you. I don't know where I heard this from.

| Originally posted by Durafei Generally to get landed immigrant papers you have to meet certain criteria(good profession, knowledge of english, certain age etc), but if you have $200,000(not sure about the figure) you can get papers without meetnig these criteria because you have lots of money. Note, however, that in this case you still have that money. Nobody takes it away from you. Why do you think there is sooo many immigrants from Hong Kong here? If you own an apartment in Hong Kong you are as good as Canadian Citizen. [EDIT: To avoid any misunderstanding it's totally cool with me that there is lots of immigrants from HK. As long as you guys can speak English properly so people can understand ya. j/k ]I'm against accepting refugees though. I don't see the point in that. I think it just increases the amount of people on welfare, but I don't have any evidence to back this up, so I could be totally wrong. |

| Originally posted by dEsidEL wells this is actually true. it all depends on how much ecomical capital you can bring over here and how old you are when you're immigrating also plays a big role. As for the refugee thing wells i don't really know the statistics behind that either, but I like most ppl likely wouldn't want refugess living in our neighbourhoods. However Canada as a developed nation has to share the burden with the rest of the developed world to curb the global economic crisis of the developing nations. So yeah I still think we should help out in some way .. how we do it is another question .. |
dufari would you have a problem with russians who don't speak english well??
some eastern euros have this thing that pisses me off
they think that they deserve to be given immigration more than other countries, say like asians or middleeasterns.
i am an eastern euro, so I am not making things up.
Me is half persian and the other half is Russian and turkish!
My grandfather says he may have some mongolian ancestry from long ago.

| Originally posted by Durafei Hm.. I'm not sure what money you are talking about. Immigrating to Canada doesn't cost all that much money. It costs a lot if you hire a lawyer, but then it's your lawyer who gets most of the money, not Canadian government. Also, becoming a Canadian citizen it's all that expensive.. As far as I can remember it's around $750. |

well if i did want to piss off poor old swamps, i would say "Khalalalallaah" but then out of respect to our poor pope and the other TAs who have been harrased by the very words, i shall refrain from using it on TA.
let me clarify what we (Khalalalah alliance) actually say in english:
Allah Akbar = muslims say it to mean Allah (God) is Great
lah Ellah ella Alla = No other God but Allah (God)
and to further clarify one thing: Allah is NOT the muslim God.. Allah is simply the arabic word for the God.
Lotta ppl confuse this but christian God, Jewish God and the muslim God are the same God.. just different faithes.
ok, now i should stop while i'm ahead.. Father Rocco doesn't wanna become a theologian
