I hate people who bash Canada, expecially egotistical Americans. You think living in America is great? Ever been to Europe? Canada? Go there, live there a while and see which you'd like better.
And on another note...the fact that you've never heard of McGill and Concordia goes to show how wrapped up you are in your own surroundings. Those two schools are amongst the top in North America. Get a clue.

no i wasn't bashing canada...if there is a place in this world where i'd rather be rite now than here in the states its canada for sure...and yeah i do think living in america is great...i enjoy a great life here in the bay area...i never ONCE said america is the only great place to live in the world...dont put words in my math...what you think living in america is shit? than get the fuck out and move to iraq...if i truly hated/despised canada i wouldn't even be saying that so chill out it was just a joke

and no i never heard of mcgill and concordia...im sure they are great colleges but YOU get a clue...why dont you ask all your friends/peers if they ever heard of mcgill and concordia and im sure they've never heard of it...are mcgill and concordia world renowned/famous colleges like harvard and MIT? hell no...that doeosn't MEAN they're bad colleges i just dont agree canadian education is better than americas

"Retire at 25"? Are you mentally challenged? What the hell are you gonna do and how will you earn your living and prosper????

Man, I'm serious, get a clue..
no you get your facts straight, mexico just moved from windows to linux to save money (something the US should do, but we are owned by coporations so it wont happen). My cousin visiting from mexico said theres alot of computer jobs , and that her brother is studying computer science at a local university. I might go next summer when school finishes just to help out and visit. would of been nice if I went this summer, could of gone to Nu-Nrg playing at Mexico City

Whats wrong with retiring at 25? heck some people around here who retired earlier thanks to the dot com era. After you retire maybe you can pick up some hobbies or go to school and go into another field that intrested you. Theres lots to do when you retire, but not when youre too old and cant get up, or have shit health problems. As for money, you get a government check and full medical servies like here in the states, sure its not much and im not saying everyone does retire at 25 but its there as an option.

excuse me. ATI is the number one video distributer in the world, and has a greater share than Santa Clara based Nvidia (and 3Dfx combined, if it wasnt bought out by Nvidia)

Of course, I live in a state of Bliss for I am ignorant.

MrS

thank you for the quick history lesson. my post was merely a "make fun of" type a post directed at the French and Canada, and therefore, being a joke, was not meant to be entirely correct. Now will you like to get out the websters dictionary and look up the word "joke", give me the exact (and correct) definition, and still not understand the meaning of the word...

just joking

Uhm.....there are thousands of programmers and electrical engineers sitting around collecting unemployment in the US too pal....probably more per capita than in Canada.

When the .com bubble burst hundreds of thousands of people lost their jobs, including several of my friends.

The fact that you've never heard of Canadian universities and colleges doesn't speak anything of their merits or demmerits. As far as research universities Mcgill and U of T are ranked on the same level as harvard. As are a few others which I can't quite recall the names of. And there are many european universities such as oxford and Cambridge that are easily as good as any of those. The other point to recognize is that very few people as a percentage of population can go to universities like those. Our universities are by no measure subpar and a much larger percentage of our population goes on to post seconday education.

I would also like to point out that you said nothing of any of my other criticisms of the U.S.

What about your high rate of violent and gun crime?

What about your ridiculous legal system?

What about your huge gap between rich and poor?

What about your lack of civil liberties?

What about your HUGE amount of people in jails? A lot of which don't meet universal human rights standards.

And to whomever said that there are more oppurtunities and jobs in the U.S. I don't quite see how that is true. I believe that you guys have a higher unemployment rate. And the average income is I believe higher here, although that largelly comes down to how you decide to calaulate it.

Also what about all the terrible atrocities your country has commited?

For example putting terible dictators in power eg pinochet?

1. high rate of violence and gun crime? we have certain areas called "ghettos" for example south central los angeles/detroit/harlem where poverty is stricken to the people who live there...since they got no money they have nothing to lose so they resort to guns and violence in order to survive...and there is nothing the government can do about that...police crackdown has been attempted but to no avail...my point is not EVERYONE lives in the projects where they have to experience these things...i've lived in california my whole life and not once have i experienced gun violence so you're obviously just brainwashed from watching too much michael moore videos
2.ridiculous legal system? what the fuck are you talking about...please give an example of our "ridiculous" legal system...what just cuz weed isn't legalized like it is in canada?man you really are an ignorant disillusional fucktard
3.huge gap between rich and poor? what exactly do you classify as a huge gap between rich and poor? do you live in america? provide an example showing we have a huge gap between rich and poor...sure in san francisco there's a shitload of homeless bums and there are the rich people who drive jaguars but shit like that is in every country so saying there's a huge gap between rich and poor in america is ignorant
4.lack of civil liberties? what are you basing this on? the increased airport stops against middle eastern men suspected of being terrorists? considering what happened after 9/11 there are gonna be some disillusional people who will be prejudice against middle eastern descent but since then it has toned completely down
besides THIS how are we lacking in civil liberties? america has one of the most diverse population in the world...if we lacked civil liberties we'd all be suffering here including myself
5.huge amount of people in jails? so what? well i agree that there have been many people thrown in jail for minor crimes like the 3 strikes law we have in california but if you wanna fuck up and end up in jail its your problem...people should know the consequences
6.terrible atrocities? what the fuck does this have anything to do with living in the united states?

like i said before...i'd recommend getting treated to a brain lobotomy...maybe itll knock some sense into you

You cannot be taken seriously because you are looking for excuses to bash America and you're predisposed against it. It's called bias. But then it should come as no surprise, because, as one American writer/journalist once noted, Canada defines itself as a country, as a counterweight to the US. (While the US defines itself as a country in more meaningful ways...)
