Ghost Smilie

Just picked up a copy and got a good deal on it! Since Virgin never had it stock I had to make a special request for it to be delivered just for me for no extra charge. I am assuming it had been shipped from Australia (I am in Canada), anyway I am happy I got the original CD after so long for only 25 CAD dollars!! This CD will always remain in my CD changer, it's incredibly unique and rare.

sorry to dig this thread out - but this mix album is just so amazing! i've been listening since i got it last year at least 2 to 3 times a week constantly...and it just doesn't get boring!

í think this comp will be a real classic in 2,3 years! for me it plays in the same league as GU13 and MMII

Love

I listened to CD1 when I was in the train. I was litterally teleported to another world, was dreaming... I've never felt like that. It's a greaaaat cd ( especially Hermann & Kleine - Leaving you behind (Without knowing where to go ) )

Holy crack! Just heard this CD for the first time. Wow. WOW.

Especially tracks 4-8 on CD1. Killer grooves, bass line, electro sounds. Anyone got any suggestions for similarly badass mixes/songs? What style of trance would you call that particular segment anyway?

Everything from Border Community!

Its impossible to stylize stuff from these guys

I'd say most of it is closer to tech-house than anything. Melodic progressive tech house. CD 1 is really really good. CD 2 is really good as well, but not as good as the first.

The way it works is that if you know the songs pretty well, you can tell where the new songs are mixed in with little difficulty. However, it still sounds nice, and every song is so damn good and so perfect to follow the last that any technical mixing aspects are forgivable. This is probably my favorite mixed album.

Playing it again. By far, cd1 is about the best thing I've ever heard. Bumping this again for my excitement of seeing him on the 1st of March. Point taken he doesn't spin stuff like this much any more, I still like the tracks he's making and playing these days.

Demoted, I love you for loving this.

Seriously, Balance 005 is so fucking great. A timeless beauty.

It still amazes me how fucking brilliant this cd is – i still listen to it at least once a week. Classic beauty indeed.

Woo! I'm seeing him on the third!

One of my all-time favourite artrist albums. This is amazing. Too many emotions are in this thing.

If you want to know what progressive music is about listen to this

it's not an artist album.

Seeing this thread resurface reminds of when James Holden used to be good, before he drifted into the boring glitchiness that dominates his sound now.

The Balance disc was DAMN good though... still one of the best mix CDs ever.

I saw him live about 2 months ago, and he didn't play that boring glitchiness. He played some banging techno and tech house. It was actually one of the best sets I've heard live.

Got a picture with him and everything, very down to earth guy.

i'm glad this thread got bumped

absolutely amazing cd, both discs, best melodic / twinkle prog trance i've ever heard

Same here, he threw down one of the best and nastiest sets I've ever heard. Even the "boring glitch" stuff he plays I tend to love, and I would love to hear it live as well.

As for Balance 005, it's still my favorite mix comp. I've grown to love cd 2 almost as much as cd 1. I still want the full version of Meek - Happy but I know that that's never going to happen. What a blinder of a track though.

I actually played this in the car last night heading home from a smokeout session at my brother's and my friend was in the car with me. She never listens to electronic music but she fell in love with it. The way that MFA track just starts you off, you know you're going on one of the best musical journeys ever recorded.

Context is everything. Thats what Holden got with this, each track works perfectly with the next, each sets up the next. The mixing doesn't have to be amazing or technical, because the tracks all work together by themselves.

yes!

I just love how Oshawa fades out into All together.

this CD is also one of my favorites, and most probably, will always be one of my favorites.

Im also glad this thread got bumped. This was probably my last good EDM CD i bought in yearsssssssss. I think 005 is the best out of all the Balances, although i didnt personally hear Luke Fairs, but whatever. James is coo.

Posted by Rainborn on May-11-2007 12:42:

I can't pick out certain tracks. Every single nanosecond of this compilation is godly. Meerkat - Colours is SUCH an awesome track.
Which of the tracks have been released so far?

hehe don't worry... Holden's compilation is easily one of the best ever, Fair's doesn't come close.

This baby will be forever remembered, no words to describe how amazing it is.

Posted by DiMethGuy on May-12-2007 06:45:

funny that this thread got bumped. This is my quintessential summer album. Really is something special. The only thing that sucks about listening to it...is realizing how far EDM has spiraled into an abyss of worthless drivel since its release.

You can shove all the subsequent Balance releases up your anal cavity if you think they are on the same level as this one...
