Burned with Desire still has the same 32 beat phrase structure that trance has. DnB also follows a 32 beat phrase structure. Remember that there is a distinction between the pulse of the music, and the rhythm of the beat. Trance couldn't be 3/4 (i.e waltz time) as the 32 beat phrase structure wouldnt work. 8 x 3 = 24 8 x 4 = 32 you would be a whole 8 beats behind, and would need to have an extra 8 beat phrase to be in sync with all other trance tunes. |

| Originally posted by Christopher B I'm thinking about writing a trance song in 7/8 time, since I study classical music and love writing trance and have nothing better to do with my time. It actually wouldn't be that hard, the only thing thats challenging is coming up with a good uplifting melody in 7/8, cuz most pieces of music in that time are kinda akward or evil sounding. To anyone who can't figure out how a 7/8 trance track would feel beat-wise, here's how it would probably work: 4/4 can be subdivided into 8/8. The 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th eighths are the kicks, and 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th eights are the high-hats. When you do a trance song in 7/8, it would be the same except you take out the last high hat and replace it with the first kick of the next measure and repeat. To the listener it should sound and feel akward, but hey, thats what one of those things that makes life interesting. |
if there isnt a kick, then it cant be classified as trance
