Re: so this is what temporary heaven feels like?!!!!!

WOW!!! What a night!
Eso my man started off things on a great note with some melodic trance and then finishing off with Tiesto's Flight 643! Crazy.

Walter Rosati played some really solid tunes and good mixing to boot, he had the crowd moving pretty well before Dumonde came on.

But then Dumonde came on and just sluaghtered the crowd with some insane TUNES!!!!!!. I must admit I haven't been the greatest Dumonde fan as of late, but last night they surpassed all my expectations, they were absolutely amazing!

Of course partying with all the TA's made the night even better, a party isn't a party without the TA crew.

Unfortunately I had to leave 30 min before Dumonde finished because my friend Roger(High On PSI) was sick and the Nyquil he had taken before coming to Viva finally caught up with him, but I have to thank him for coming out to support me even though he was feeling so shitty, and of course thanks to all the TA's, Kevin, Corinne & Rich, John, Emery,Sonny, Ari & Del for your support. It was amazing to spin for you all on such a wicked sound system.

Carlos, OMG! TECHNOOOOOOOOOOOO. I couldn't stop dancing! When Chris Liebing - Intruder came on I didn't know weather to start dancing or not cause I was waiting for a trance synth to come in, but it never did! I d/ld that track, and it sounds nothing like what you span. You must have TWEAKED the hell out of that track! I was wondering how Dumonde was going to top your set!

It probably sounded different because I mixed in "Murder Was the Bass" by DK8 really quickly and played it on top of "Intruder", I used "Intruder" mainly as an intro.

Anways here's my playlist because many of you last night asked me if I could post it....

Chris Liebing - Intruder
DK8 - Murder Was The Bass
Gabry Fasano - Catapulta
END-JY - Red Alert
Tomaz vs Filterheadz - Sunshine
Mark Norman - Total Seduction
NU-NRG - Dreamland
Rapid Eye - Stealing Beauty (RE Mix)
Plastic Boy - Live Another Life

Wow! What a party! I am REALLY glad I went and stayed for 90% of the night. Dumonde are really cool/friendly guys and can spin like hell! (too bad I never got my flier signed). Big ups to Eso and Mobius, both of your sets rocked! OMG Mark Norman - Total Seduction. Mobius, I DIED! Thanks to Ari and Del for setting everything up (did they even end up using the slipmat?)and for Em for organizing the dinner. Was just like last year only so many more ppl! Was AWESOME meeting all of you new people and Drewfactor, I was wondering where you guys had gone but it's ok since I figured you left early anyway because of your friend who's first time at a trance party was tired. No worries. Awesome seeing stylez and waxen again and meeting your friend (I forget her name Waxen).

Hell yeah! This was one of the greatest parties I've ever attended !!

Posted by NightCreature on Sep-07-2003 02:21:

Awesome party! It was great to see that many TAs made it to this one. Shutouts to Andrew, Ilyia, Artem, Ken, Chris, Graham and Margaret. Dumonde's mixing was awesome and they kept the vibe going by dropping hard and melodic tunes. I thought that the bass was cranked to the max, which was annoying, but then I discovered that viva was selling ear plugs.

All in all, great party. Ilyia, I hope that your fantasies of seeing dumonde are now fulfilled

damn that was a WICKED night! dumonde officially rocked my ass all night long. how can anyone not love melodic HARD trance?!

so very glad i made it out, and surprised everyone with my appearance. when i tapped them on the shoulder, i'd say "yo, what's up !!!!" and all i would get back was this: i know it took rj a few secs to totally recognize me, rofl.

aint no party like a TOTA party!

shoutouts to everyone i ran into:

Graham: finally the twins reunite. too bad i still didn't have the hair so we could totally match
Ilyia: DUMONNNDDEEE! glad you enjoyed yourself, it's like you were waiting for this since birth, lol. see you on the 19th for k-towns' offical trance night, lol
Mirza: always energetic, it was great seeing you again. we need a good techno event to bring out all of our power tho
RJ: glad you did recognize me, lol. can't wait to try and trick you next time i come out and yes, school is number one. but right behind it is partying!!!
Emery: glad i saw you late in the night! props to the meetup, even tho i missed it, sounded good. we actually passed frankie tomatoes at around 11, but i figured everyone would be gone. next time, we'll party up a storm!
Matt: good to see you were lovin the tunage, and i saw you eyeing the turntable cam a lot; never stop learning
As: i don't know how i ran into you that late in the night! how could i miss the giant?! great to see you again, and hopefully it won't be too long till next time.
Jenna: what a great greeting from you ^_^ it's so nice when someones trying to think who you are, and when they know, their face just lights up can't wait till next time.
Tara: took you a while, but you remembered me, lol. i just hope it doesn't take me that long to get out again, lol
Allan: always great seeing you! so friendly and great, till next time! i know whenever i get a hard slap on your back, it's your approval of having a good time, lol
Margaret: yeah, i think it was j00f awesome chattin with you, and hope to see you soon.
Ray: glad i saw you again, it's been too long, haha. till next party hopefully!
Rich: awesome seeing you again! "you got a hair cut!!! so did i!!!" can't wait till next time, we'll dance up a storm in the wee hours again
Priss: glad i could surprise you with my attendance wish i could've talked to you more, such a nice girl ^_^

and i know there was more, but i can't remember. if i did talk to you, shoutouts!

but yeah, that party, goddamn... it's definately up there for me. if a party can make me forget about getting lost in markham, and shelling out 50$ for a cab ride there, then fuck, that's a DAMN KICKIN PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

some of you TOTA's better get your ass up to kw on the 19th for chiclet!!! i always come to you!!! visit me, and the fellow k-town TA's for a change, bastards!!!

till next time, keep moving, and in the words of dumonde (i think, not sure if i can remember right):

TRANCE IS THE ANSWER!

Picked up Emery and headed to the meet up. It was nice to see everyone out for dinner; too bad some came late and were in a rush with their meals. BIG UP to EMERY for organizing the dinner! Thanks to Beh for helping out too! BTW, Emery .. Count the change MOTHER******!

Arrived to Viva and the line with pure TAz, it looked pretty cool! MASSIVE thank you to Ari for pushing the time slots back, and made sure our DJz started when all the TAz were in the venue!

DJ ESO KICKED ASS !!!
DJ MOBIUS KICKED ASS !!!
*** Im very proud of you guys!***
MC E2EK1EL My voice was scratchy and I hope I wasnt too loud on the mic. (Maybe next time I should stay on the mic for the rest of the night. Just vote on it.)
MC DESIDEL Workin that MIC proppa! You should host more man!

DUMONDE The long awaited DJz had finally landed in Toronto and rocked it! They were unbelievable! Nowadays, a lot of trance out there is pure CHEESE! All I can say is, Dumonde throws down the PROPPA TRANCE! Just like back in the days! Every track they spun last night was wickedly BOD! My fist was up all night for them! I hope they will be returning in the near future! BIG UP JAM X AND DELEON!

THANK YOU
-To all the TAz that represented early for DJ Mobiuss and DJ Esos set!
-To all the TAz that came out!
-To everyone who helped out!
-To TR for bring Dumonde to Toronto!
Ari and Del for joining forces and making this event so suucessful! Its great to see a TA DJ up there!

BIG UP TO THE TA FAMILY!!!

I would like to start my review with:

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!

At the beginning, as we were walking towards the door I couldn't help but say "Oh fuck... look at all the Trance Addicts". I'll curb my previous views now, because you guys helped maintain an amazing vibe.

As for the boys from Deustchland:
Dumonde rocked like no before. I haven't danced (or sweated) like that since... fuck! my early days of raving 7years ago. Ever since I first heard Never Look Back and I think Tomorrow, I've known that Dumonde was nothing but good shit and was something that was going to continue impressing me with their sound. So of course, the next thing to buying every track they release, was seeing them play out. TWO FRICKIN YEARS of waiting paid off very handsomely. I saw Hennes & Cold about a year ago... they were another act that i wanted to see... they were impressive, but nothing like this. Once again. HOLY SHIT!

BOOM-->BOOM-->BOOM-->BOOM-->breakdown-->vocal-->break-->BOOM-->BOOM-->BOOM-->BOOM

Hands up! (waving side to side)
Hands up! rock out with your cock out!
Hands up! air-synth stabbin!

The beats were steady and strong. the beginning they played a lot of stuff that was similar to their work, but at one point DeLeon got on the mic and said "For now on, we're playing on DuMonde tracks"
and they did. They played ...and then they started to dance, Tomorrow, Trauma (non-vocal tho ), Never Look Back, Can you dig it, Binary Finary, God Music... and HUMAN!
All the amazing shit.
The only way it could've been better is if i had brought one of my records to get signed.
Is it just me, or did they NOT play "mind made up" ??

A few weeks ago, there was a party in which someone reviewed after wards and said "that wasn't a party, that was a rave". Well... This wasn't a party, This wasn't a rave, this wasn't some club night. It was all of the above, and then some. Everyone was bouncing... it was amazing. If they weren't, they were seconds earlier, or a synth breakdown was being played. Truly awesome.

And of course my shouts and greetz:
Avro + Jessica, his buddy John, Dennis, Charmsgrl(?), Chiclet and her friend, and ummm i dunno who else. Oh yeah, the hottie in the red shirt (jacket around waist) that was in front of me a lot.

To the DJ before DuMonde - Nice selection. I truely enjoyed the tracks you played. In particular - Cowgirl2003. very nice.

To the Temporaral Rhythm Crew. Thanks guys. You restored my faith in trance parties and in Viva.
I haven't been to Viva since the dreaded Ascension of Doom, which is sad because I live in markham (10min away), and so i've steered clear of Viva. Now that Viva cleaned itself up, it's a fucking amazing venue.
Good Job Viva crew.

Could this have been trance history in Toronto in the making .. ?? quite possibly !!

Posted by Dj-HordasH on Sep-07-2003 10:34:

That was simply EXTRAORDINARY TUNAGE!!!

I havent heard too many more beautiful sets than the one we were blessed with last night. Awesome fun for the whole family. The music was utterly splendid, immense orgasmatron in the audio domain. I remember towards the end when Dumonde dropped tune after tune after tune, it was just pure insanity, everybody was completely losing their mind. Ill always remember Cyrus & I looking at each other in a state of utmost elation at the beginning of so many tunes keenly relishing the euphoric state Dumonde propelled us to.

Undoubtedly one of the top trance nights this city has seen in its history!!!

BRING THEM BACK!

Posted by djeso on Sep-07-2003 13:24:

I guess I should post my tracklist ... I was so exhausted lol I had no energy to write a proper review lol

1. Yahel - Butterfly
2. id - Eclipse (don't wanna wake someone up checking the title I'll
add the rest later)
3. promo (TA produced)
4. Rollerball - Albinioni
5. Blank Jones - Cream (pvd)
6. Tiesto - Flight 643

PS. Wow, someone impressed with techno so much energy, and you all know who it was the one and only Mobius, all I can say is PRICELESS.

once again big thanks to everyone(all the TOTA's) and the crew, without you this would never be the way it was, you guys made viva my #1 club!!!!

Peace, Love, Unity

ESO

Smiling Frog

Very fun night indeed!

After getting home @ 6:30am I stayed awake and then by 9am was playing an all-day ultimate frisbee tournament with no subs on our team.... boy did I ever hurt after that!

Viva - crazy club indeed! pretty much blown away by the whole layout.. phenominal! also quite glad they were selling ear plugs!

DuMonde - Definite energy! personally I lean towards the more hard/acid/goa vibe, rather than melodic so for the first half their set I wasnt so into the style, but they definetly delivered some wikkid tracks that had me bustin it up throughout the night! technically there were right on point, can remember picking out any noticable errors... good job!

Best part of the night....Turning around and picking up conversations with people, and finding after a bit of chat that there from TA! and this is not an isolated incident, this was EVERYONE that I chatted with on the dancefloor... couldnt believe how many of you were representing in style you are all wikkid!

Posted by charmscars on Sep-07-2003 14:10:

Wow.

very good night. I was very impressed. The event went off w/o a hitch. The club is great. Very spacious and great sound (not as good as Guv's but definitely second in the GTA) and wicked lights (lazers were better than at guv IMO). The place was perfectly packed but never too rammed to bust moves, which I appreciated as a regular at Guv events. The layout of the club is pretty good too. w/ a lounge area in the back and a mostly obstruction-free dancefloor.

The opening DJ's were very good. I was glad that we arrived early and got to hear DJ Eso and DJ Mobius. The other DJ (the viva resident i think) that followed them also performed well.

Dumonde were a lot of fun. A very energetic set that had the room dancing. I loved it! The people that were there to see Dumonde (a few regulars i met had no idea that a special event was taking place except for the elevated cost of entry) had such amazing vibe and energy...it felt more like parties from the past (i mean this in the best possible way). It was soooo good to hear godd music being played out. *happy sigh*

*cheese alert*
The tunes were so hard and pumping and the venue was so perfect and everyone around me seemed so into it, it felt like the scene in Groove where digweed drops heavenscent.

It was also great to hear Mark in that setting. What a versatile DJ! It was only a few weeks ago that he was laying down a sick opening prog set at Lotus for Digweed, and to hear him switch to trance and do it so well... He is very good at playing the perfect set for the type of event and DJ that performs before/after.

a close to perfect night.

much respect to Temporal Rythym for throwing such a good party. I am so thoroughly impressed w/ you! No complaints about anything at all!

taraxo

shoutouts to come....

Itikia, what did Dumonde think of the party?? Do they want to come back ?? And what did you guys think (compared to other TR organized parties) ?

Posted by itikia on Sep-07-2003 15:17:

What did they think? You will be very surprised..

"The best party we've been to since the UK in 2001" - DuMonde

"One of the highlights of the night came when I asked Dominik DeLeon at the end of his set what it was like playing in a new club (this being their Canadian debut) to which he replied: exciting and that there was so much energy in the building that it reminded him of Gatecrasher UK .. WTF !!" - Desidel on tribe

Hopefully that will answer your question about them wanting to come back!
