not quite true. ur was in between what is now known as baghdad and the head of the persian gulf. it's right on the edge of al-hajarah. take your map and look up tall-al-muqayyar in iraq. it was one of the first cities foudned by the early ubaidians (sumerians). when the elamites conquered ur, they comletely destroyed the city, but it was rebuilt again and became a part of the isin (larsa) kingdom. it was later captured by the kassites, and only then by the assyrians who ruled over all babylonia at that time. it was also the city where the infamous ziggurat dedicated to moon god nanna (also known as sin in babylonia) was located.

I've thought of this too. Someone give me an answer, humorous or serios, it does not matter.

I thought they had found neanderthal/hybrid species, buried under ice and such. Probably those species just died because they weren't well adapted; think about it, humans would have died off pretty quickly in the last ice age if it weren't for the invention of fire.

Apes survived naturally, humans survived with technology, and everything in between didn't really have what it took to survive. Try to remember that evolution is based solely on survival, it doesn't just happen out of the blue, it occurs for a reason!

We still have single-celled organisms, right? So what's so hard to believe, we don't necessarily have everything along the evolutionary path from an amoeba to a gorilla either... this whole thing is just a silly argument that creationists come up with to make people question known science.

i would probably never understand those things:

1. why in USA vs EU "wars" americans sudently forget that theyr ancestors came from the Old Continent and try to throw as much garbage on the european life style as thy can and if they are on holiday in Europe they sudently become in love with this continent?

2. why yankees killed all native-americans (red skins)

3. why USA bombed Iraq?

4. why the country like USA has so much more-less smart ppl led by a total moron?

5. why some ppl know less than 3 languages (i know 7 but i have nothing to do with philology and have never studied it)

6. why can't i quit smoking

7. why my dog has such smart eyes and can't say even a simple word heheh...

8. why ppl believe in love when it's a simple biochemical process in ones brain to make comfort?

9. why fat ppl try to do anything to lose weight?

10. why ppl complain bout bad living conditions instead making them better

11. why there's no nutrient tablets that can satisfy your hunger needs for all day (like in SF books) when the science is so well developed

12. why do ppl get angry when someone throw jokes on them instead laughing at ones creativity?

etc etc etc

Uhm....simple answer. They didn't.

There are still several hundred thousand Native Americans living in this country today.

But the simple reason for killing off so many is that the European settlers and their descendents wanted the land and felt the "savages" did not deserve it.

It's only against the French more or less, and the people who do it are conservative morons. French girls own me.

They didn't.

What about the Spanish, Portuguese etc etc? They killed just as many.

3. why USA bombed Iraq?

The Neocons have always wanted to remove Saddam for a long time, and with the terror attacks they had an excuse. Now Bush says Iraq had nothing to do with Sept. 11th. I did not feel that we should have gone to war in Iraq.

quote:

4. why the country like USA has so much more-less smart ppl led by a total moron?

Because of the Electoral College instead of direct elections. In short, some of the small states think it gives them power, so they never vote to amend the US constitution to abolish the electoral college and change to direct elections. It requires a 2/3rds majority in Congress.

quote:
5. why some ppl know less than 3 languages (i know 7 but i have nothing to do with philology and have never studied it)

You're gifted. Don't rub it in.

quote:
6. why can't i quit smoking

Because nicotine is among the most addictive substances known to man (more so than heroin).

quote:
7. why my dog has such smart eyes and can't say even a simple word heheh...

Don't you watch "Family Guy?"

quote:
8. why ppl believe in love when it's a simple biochemical process in ones brain to make comfort?

Haha. I know what you mean. It's powerful stuff though, so most people don't think of it that way.

quote:

9. why fat ppl try to do anything to lose weight?

Sorry but that's a very ignorant statement. Many of them do try very hard, but science is only beginning to learn of the genetic factors that make a person fat or thin. One theory states that everyone has a more or less "set point" for their body weight, and even if they practically starve themselves their bodies will resist losing weight.
It may have some evolutionary significance (think survival of the fattest).

quote:
10. why ppl complain bout bad living conditions instead making them better

It's easier to bitch and moan than to put in the effort to change your reality (or learn some of the answers to your questions).

LOL

What I wonder:

Why the hell did I attempt to answer all of those questions when this person could have followed the advice in question #10?

heh WOW.... i've had a fun time asking these questions retorically, but someone REALLY answered them!!! heheheheh
well, you shouldn't have, cause i've made them up just sitting next to computer....
i know abut nicotine and weight coding genes, cause i'm a genetic myself, your answers to these questions were more or less like from a cheap book, but anywayz....
tho i found an interesting answer bout the leader of US... and now i think that not only do americans have a moron-like leader, but a thousand of them in all the states.... agree?

p.s. what is "family guy" or smth...

Maybe you're just looking in the wrong places.

Can be answered by:
quote:

10. why ppl complain bout bad living conditions instead making them better

Because the primary problem for those people is that they are lazy, not fat. Their weight is a consequence. Note that there are certain people who are simply genetically obese, but chances are that these people *have* tried to lose weight and simply not succeeded.

Because rain is cold, and when it rains its usually windy. Rain + wind = frozen balls

Yeah my answers sounded like they were from some kind of fact book haha. If you are a geneticist maybe you can explain the genetic side of being fat a bit better for everyone. I think it will help them understand.

As for the US leaders thing,

Think of it this way:

If you were asked to vote on something that would cause you to lose your power (clout), or your region that you represent's power, would you vote for that amendment? I don't think so. They aren't thinking about whether or not they will piss off a person on another continent (what country are you from?) 10 years from now.

Do the leaders in your country care about the people in North America? I doubt it. That's just the reality.

Lithuania ?

yes, i'm from Lithuania. why ask when there's a flag next to my profile...
well about the fat ppl: their genome is coded to "ask" for a secretion of cartinine (amino acid, that is responsible for fat metabolism), in less doses. but after years of studies genetics and dietologists came up with a diet which lowers the fat usage to minimum and instead replace it with more albumen and carbohydrates, however, most of the ppl who has the problem can't reconsile themselves to everyday tablet usage, that provide them with specific enzymes to metabolise extra albumen/carbohydrates or the other option, they have to use synthetic cartinine.
that's it! and if you asked me, if one is unsatisfied with his/her body, one should do everything (even choose 1 option above) to change it...

about the leader thing... pardon, but i can confess that i didn't understand your quote... it's my english i guess, afterall it's not my mother language

Posted by Omegasox on Sep-18-2003 19:48:

People who say Bush is a moron, and prove it by the actions the US are taking have to realize that this isn't an autocracy.

He may have the final say, but there isn't a single decision made without the input of many people.

I always find it analogous to a football team. When they win, you look at the entire team as a great power. When they lose, the majority of the blame rests on the Quarterbacks (or coach, either works) shoulders, without mentioning all the other people on the field.

People keep forgetting! We're a confederation of states consolidated to form one big federalist nation. The federal government does not have supranational authority over everything. States maintain the majority of the power in determining most laws. Anyway, with respect to the electoral college it was needed when it was implemented. It granted certain states more powers as concessions for them to stay in the union (especially among the oldest states). For example, many of the new england states wanted to secede from the Union as late as 1804!

100% true, plus the fact that even if we arent disillusioned by dumb womenzz we see them dating all the shithead fuck-ups that we hate, and realize that thats the difference between them (who have G/F's) and you (who doesnt); they are shitheads, and treat women poorly. Women like being shit on, plain and simple. They want someone to validate how shitty they feel about themselves, and they think that if you respect them, you must be a desperate loser to accept someone as crappy as her with that much devotion. So they dump you and :move Up: by finding someone who self-perceives themselves as 10 levels above everyone.
