I remember listening to Power96(Miami) on a saturday night and they were playing trance. They played the song Kaycee - Escape and actually said the name of the song when they played it. I remembered that, went to store next week, found the cd, The Mix, which had it, bought it. The Mix is still one of my favorite cd's ever.

I remember seeing oakenfold in 97 or something ike that in a small venue while his head wasnt big,,,,,,,,,,,,, that was an amasing night.
to bad he suxks ass now........... i still go to see him cause of the vibe of the party but he doesnt impress me anymore.

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-18-2003 23:50:

Oakenfold is just going on his name....not much else these days. Shame because from 1998-2000...he was the greatest dj on the face of this earth.

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Sep-19-2003 00:10:

i was listening on-and-off to horrendous cheesy music since about mid-1998...then in about mid-2000 I started listening to Juno Reactor and Tiesto's Summerbreeze...then it all took off from there

Posted by Maria TR909 on Sep-19-2003 00:12:

i wouldnt say the greates...........

but he was fun in the later 90's

remember i come from a time before tiesto, oaki & pvd..

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-19-2003 00:19:

let's see

oakenfold was big from 1994 onward
same with sasha
pvd hit his stride in 1997 imo...ppl argue 1994...

i mean maria...could anyone top the essential mix world tour from 1999....where oakenfold set the standard....i doubt it....

agreed.. oakie rocked the scene with that set. so badass. still gets a lot of playtime on me playlist.

its funny how oakey used to play cj bolland - prophet back in 99., and tiesto got onto whoring that track in 2001 even put it on his magik 6

Posted by torontotrance on Sep-19-2003 01:48:

that set...you mean THOSE SETS...

Posted by Maria TR909 on Sep-19-2003 02:16:

In NYC No one really knew oaki & PVD it was a different game being played. Over seas trance dj's were not important at the time........... NYC had there own kick ass talent. When pvd first played here in in what 94 95 96 at teh unity party at vinyl no one had a clue who he was.......
I almost forgot i even saw him once.
back in those years NYC Was still all about the hardcore. rotterdam terror corps, marc acardipane, neophyt, Euromasters, dj's & acts like that. trance became popular in NYC in the late 90's even though some djs were playing trance it wasnt at its peak yet... so obvously niether would be the trance dj's........ except for some. But back then it was people like kimbal collins, DJ Gonzo of Limelight, dan efex people like that.
