I've been obsessed with that track recently and was going to be trying to re-create that synth. I'll let you know if I have any luck, hehe.

Cool, I'm very curious with what you will come up with...

What software are you using ?
I can post a Reason file if anyone want.

Cheers.

From Tranceaddicts Unite Part 3, song 2 from Al Azar.

I'd like to know how he made those sounds.

PM Mr. Mystery (who also mixed the thing) and/or MaRt, as they are the two people behind Al Azar.

Which sounds do you mean, exactly?

Posted by Cryogenic on Dec-15-2003 08:16:

This is a sample of a 10 mins. effort at the Ferry Corsten - Punk sound.

Have a listen, and if you like it, ill upload the Reason file. But i already described how i got to this sound. Maybe its way of, its done via a pair of shite speakers.
Btw, i dont remember who did the midifile.

For a 10 minute effort that's pretty damned good!

Posted by Cryogenic on Dec-15-2003 17:13:

Yeah, thanks.
Start with a saw and go from there. As with almost anything trance, ey ? heh...

I know how to create the warble sound in the synth, but mine just sounds so thin and normal. Any help is appreciated.

ps: great tune this is!!!

Well I gave up on this a few months ago but I was playing around with Vanguard today and there's a preset called "Same Time Same Place" which, with a few tweaks, was pretty much identical to the lead sound you're talking about here.

http://www.flamevault.com/~celerity/newtime.mp3

(the note velocity is all wrong because I just recorded real time by plunking on my keyboard =P)
It's basically just the "digital" waveform, with any arpeggio turned on, set to 1/64 and Glide Mode of the arpeggio set to Instant. That's what gives the warbly effect.

Good job on the Punk synth Cryogenic
Could you please post a reason file on how you got that sound. I cant quit seem to be able to get it and would like to know exactly how.
Thanks

@dj-sean: thanx for the reply man, totally forgot about this thread. I looked at my Vanguard presets, but I couldn't find any preset called same time, same place?
So I was thinking, could you please send me the preset?

thanx!

King

Hey mates!

This thread rocks!
I started something equal to this thread a while ago, but apparently there wasn't enough people who seemed interested.

I will try to do my best to help you!

Ok, here it goes right:
The lead sound in Ralphie B - Massive, i know it's from a Virus, i think so anyway, but how to create this in REason2.5??????

Thnx,

Don't let this thread bleed to death!
Cheers!

I know you guys out there are more into producing trance and this forum has been superb yet, but I would like to know something I can't get exactly right...
I've been hammering on that techno-trance sound, say the typical V-sound (as in Marco V - Loops and things for example). I mean the buildup here then
First of all, I don't seem te get the drum right, but that must just be a matter of tweaking and eq-ing. But the whole sound seems to be pretty complicated. I know you have to use a lot of hihats, and the bass should be pretty low...
Anyone got some tips? Would be much appreciated!

Cheers!

As with all techno compression is really important as an effect. I have been wondering about the Marco V sound as well, especially the drums are hard to get right I think. But ultra-compression on drum-loops should create these sounds. Don't ask me to make a copy of one of his tracks, it's really hard imo. But if you put more compression on your own tracks, they should begin to start like the V-Sound.

And dj-sean, thanx mate, I owe you big time!

Posted by DJ-Koen on Mar-05-2004 20:23:

Yeah you're right about the compression there, I'm starting to get it in the right direction. He might compress something like a snare-sound with his drums too...But I always used compression to lower the overall DB's of kick/bass down to 0. So if you use more compression, you compress with more treshold and add more gain afterwards or so?

Damn, this is a challenge! And respect for the V-man...

Thanks anyway mate!

Posted by iLLicit on Mar-05-2004 20:33:

Yeah, lower the threshold to let's say -20 -30 db and put the gain up until the right level. Also playing with attack and release can creat 'pumping' effects. Just practice, that's the key IMO.

Posted by DJ-Koen on Mar-05-2004 20:47:

Sweet! It seems to work yeah, with a bit of delay and reverb on the bass too and the right EQing. But when this tough job is done, he throws in some manic hihats and a clap or so...You reckon that's a matter of compressing too? And off course EQing...
