My experience was last year @ the Comfort zone on Canada Day, I went just after seeing Paul Oakenfold @ the Guvernment, and wow it was a total eye opener! Why didn't someone tell me it was a gay club, I felt extrememly uncomfortable, and not only that; but people were doing hardcore drugs everywhere!
The Zone isn't a gay club.
And people do drugs at the guvernment too

The Zone isn't a Gay Club, it just attracts a wide variety of patrons.

I did NO DRUGS at all when I was at the Zone. And I'd just come from a Guv party dancing all night and I'd done no drugs there either (so I was not sketchy at all, I was feeling fine and just naturally energized).
You do NOT need drugs to enjoy the zone IMO. I had a fucking blast and no drugs were needed.
As 2 ppl above stated, it's NOT a gay club! I see more gay men at Boa than I see at the Zone.
One reason I happen to love the Zone is because of how hot it is down there -- I love dancing up a storm sans my shirt (a thing that is often common amoung gay men it seems from my experience). Even so, I certainly wasn't pressure or made to feel uncomfortable by any gay individuals there.
Look past that shit, Jesus. At most, it'd be 50-50 straight-gay ppl, and no way it's even that high if you ask me. What's the problem?
It's not like it's the Fly or Tangos, which are gay nightclubs/bars, almost ENTIRELY populated by gay men and women.
Man, seriously, to enjoy the Zone, you gotta go in w/ an open mind and not be so predjudiced.

Sunday morning I paid a visit to CZ after being away since April, got there kinda early and already the beats was flowing through my veins begging me to get down and dirty on the dancefloor. Only reason I went was Shanny and a non-TOTA told me Deko-ze was doing an extended set from 9-2. Shite, morning started off with Manzone & Strong laying some sick beats and at one point Strong dropped a dirty tribal remix of Say Hello. I was in aural heaven.
I know this is not a review thread but I just had to comment on my Sunday spent at my long lost home. I've been going to the Zone for a couple years now (well not so much anymore) but the Zone's vibe never ever changed in all the years I've been going there, it's always the same wiked ass feeling you get once you step into the darkness. Sure the Triads, Gays, Juice Monkeys can be somewhat trying at times but as Jamie said if you go in there with an open mind, you'll be treated to an experience like no other.

i thought this was the thread where RJ showed us his excellent writing skills by describing CZ but I guess it is not.
I think this thread needs a copy and a paste.

what the hell do you expect at 9am in the morning after everyone is done partying at an EDM party? NO SHIT there is gonna be drugs. give me a break! CZ is like after after hours. what did you seriously expect it to be? I would really like to know. I don't think it's a gay club at all... it has never been over 60 straight 40 gay when i have gone. But like everyone said... zone isn't for everyone, only people who are there for the love of the music.

I have to agree with most and say I LOVE THE ZONE!!! I think you really need to go there expecting the absolute worst...then you won't be surprised. Once you get past all the sketchiness you realize you're there for the same reason as most...for the amazing beats and really cool people. For sure THE ZONE is a "must experience at least once"...try it and you will not be disappointed. My suggestion is to go with someone who has been, and knows what to expect - head to the dance floor, look around and experience all that is there, just for what it is. I guess it's like "they" say...church.

Here is why I
CZ...

Here is how I have felt about "The Zone" (Comfort Zone) every time I have been there:
For the first 30 minutes, you will be on edge/nervous, acclimatizing to the zone's subdued-unpredictable vibe.
You feel like you on the cusp of chaos, randomness with a feeling that some strong yet strange lasso keeps it all under control (barely).
You can't figure out why - but the edge of insanity and sanity interweave in a way that energizes, a way that fuels, a way that rules.
No, no, there is no real danger... not in the physical (Im going to get hurt myself).... but in the greater mind ("this could be explosive", "this could be me uninhibited") way.
CZ is an organism. You get absorbed - you move as one, groove as one, dance a one, all flows en-mass. If not, you stand on the exterior, trying to figure it out, but never truly enjoying it.
The key is to jump in to it - take the chance, risk your id (not I.D. - we're talking Freud's "Id")., expose yourself to the possibility of improbability and love every second.
CZ is the untamed animal - the beast that tricks one in thinking that one has grappled it, but really is bigger, more powerful than the one.
CZ is a church to the controlled random - the place for one to become oneself, without self-imposing (boundaries)...
As one focuses on the whole, rather than the specific, CZ becomes magik to the tenth-degree, beyond linear.
CZ is good. It requests intention, but gives back (exactly what has been intended).
