Hmm.. not sure thompson could do the job or not... although i suppose he does seem passionate about the club, as its always him doing the shouting for Houillier on the touch line!!

saying that, i think martin o neill would be good cos he managed to get leicester promoted and has won the championship with Celtic. Also, he was linked with united when ferguson was gonna leave, so if hes good enough for united, hell be good for us i would think.

Also heard rumours that Sven could take over.. but i think that hes almost bound for chelsea.. would be good though.

I think houilliers done a good job.. but just not got that bit extra to take us to 1st place and back into the championsleague.

I also heard about the i dont care about the fa cup thing. if thats his attitude, hes obviously lost his passion..

Missed the game.. bugger.. although sounded like good goals. Leeds this weekend, shall be a vital game for houllier and a must win if were gonna get the 4th spot.

Posted by tall paul 2 on Feb-29-2004 17:36:

2-2.. bummer. was a great game though and liverpool played very well i thought until houillier decided to bring heskey on who played more attacking midefield when we needed another striker on! should have won but 2 great saves from robinson kept us out. Thankgod newcastle drew and charlton lost yesterday.. 4th place still up for grabs!

Posted by PacMan on Feb-29-2004 23:21:

cracking goals again.

good job harry and milan...

shame about the result tho

Posted by Xavier on Mar-01-2004 01:08:

newcastle drew with pompey, so that is lucky. Were a game in hands and we need to pick up 3 points

Posted by tall paul 2 on Mar-04-2004 19:33:

First of all away tickets are offered to fans with season tickets, then if there are any left they offer them to the general public. Season ticket holders will have a deadline by which they must apply for tickets, they can usually get another ticket or two for a friend, but they take responsibility for that friend. It's unlikely you'll get in the Liverpool end unless you know a fan with a season ticket who trusts you not to be a hooligan, or if there are any tickets left for the general public. If there is a general sale they will go very fast, but most likely all the away tickets will be snapped up by season ticket holders. It all depends how many seats Marseille decide to give to Liverpool fans.

As a long shot you could try Liverpool fans' message boards and ask if anyone is selling a spare ticket, you might get lucky. Inevitably some Liverpool fans will buy tickets from touts outside the ground and go in the Marseille end, but obviously you have to be careful doing this. My only away trip to Europe was Barcelona - many Newcastle fans travelled without tickets and bought them outside the ground. They went in with the Barcelona fans, revealed their Newcastle shirts and police quickly escorted them to the Newcastle end, so they ended up in the away end that way. Whether this would work at Marseille I have no idea. At Barca we were told to arrive in the stadium three hours before kickoff and had to wait in the stands over an hour after the game finished, a policy they reserve solely for English fans! Don't be surprised if Liverpool fans get similar treatment from Marseille.

Cheers!

Ure right.. i basically got no chance of getting tickets with the liverpool fans, so basically gonna try buying to go in with the marseille lot! Tickets go on sale tomorrow in marseille, and a friend is going to the city on tuesday so gonna get tickets then! I really hope they dont sell out on the first day of sale!

Hopefully itll be safe enough to go in the marseille stands. Of course im not gonna be wearing my liverpool shirt.. and i suppose ill have to keep quiet if we score! but should be worth it anyway! Fingers crossed i get tickets!

Posted by evil_bastard on Mar-08-2004 01:28:

I double checked to see their policy is the same as Newcastle, it is:

quote:
Away Games...
Tickets for away games initially go on sale to season ticket holders subject to the selling arrangements which usually mean a restricted allocation depending on the season serial no. In the event that the allocation is not taken up by season ticket holders, the tickets than go on general sale and can be purchased via the credit card line (up to 3 days prior to game + booking fee min 90p), postal or personal application.

Cup Games...
Usually on sale to season ticket holders first and then a general sale.

Try ringing their box office anyway (if you can find the number). As the first leg is in France just 7 days after the draw was made, Liverpool fans have had little time to arrange flights/accommodation/days off work. It's worth a try.

Posted by tall paul 2 on Mar-09-2004 01:16:

YEY.. i got tickets!! Had to go in the Marseille crowd.. which is gonna be crap.. but its gonna be worth it just for the game. 6 of us going down, plan is to take liverpool shirts and then wear them after the match and mix in with the english people then! Thats if we win! fingers crossed hey! Just gotta pray my tickets get through now. 40 euros each, so it werent cheap, but definately will be worth the 4 year wait since when i last saw them play! Just thought id let u all know!

deary me, i have this ugly feeling we will get 5th this year to.

Posted by A.J. on Apr-13-2004 05:01:

bah!
0-1 to Charlton

dammit!!!!!

Posted by Soeder on Apr-13-2004 13:37:

hi

im a Manu fan...but i have to say, i almost admire Baros
i think he is way better than owen now(probably not aexactly now cuase of his injuries) unlycky for liverpool... think they would have the 4th place in their pocket with him this season

Owen is far away from the player he was...how old is he?? 25? 26?
he should be developing forward

liverpools defence sucks(sorry to say) hyppie had a good season last year but he showed this year that he isn't that good(just useful)
the rest of the def should be replaced
riise dont have defensive skills...he can shoot and pass

Hullier did well buying Baros and Kewel ...cinema and le tallec...time will show..
but what is the point of having 6 good strikers and poor defence?

Posted by tall paul 2 on Apr-13-2004 20:28:

I kinda agree and disagree with u there..

I think Baros is gonna be a great player if we can manage to hold onto him and keep him injury free. Owens had a poor season on his usual standards, but then, once again hes been injured and has scored more goals than many other strikers in the premiership who have played in nearly every game.

as for the defence, well ok we let in 4 at arsenal and 1 at chelsea, but before this we had about 5 clean sheets in a row. i think injuries havent helped. I quite like having riise in the team though hes a bit like ashley cole and bridge i suppose getting forward, and ure right his defence play is crap and houillier has even said this!

lets hope newcastle lose their game in hand. fingers crossed for that 4th spot!

Posted by PacMan on Apr-13-2004 20:59:

reason liverpool defence is utter crap is as follows...

there are two men back there they never play at the same time.

BISCAN AND HENCHOZ FFS STOP MAKING FACES AND DO SOMETHING USEFULL

ive noticed this especially with henchoz he makes the most annoying face when hes trying to tackle or head a ball.

and well biscan could be replaced with 90 year old man with a cane. theyd probably trip up just as many people.

and liverpool has heskey, owen, baros and pongolle as strikers, rest are either midfielders or wingers(kewell, letallec and diouf).

players that should be sold

Heskey (to inconsitent)
Cheyrou (new zidane my arse)
Danny Murphy (to inconsitent)
Salif Diao (utter crap)
Djimi Traore (if someone even wants him)
Igor Biscan (shouldnt even need to comment)
Stephane Henchoz (doesnt do the job anymore)
and finally diouf (to inconsitent)

all those sold to get cisse, a defender and rosicky.

oh also forgot fire houllier hes lost it.
