-- How Long Have All Of You Been Into Electronic Music?

When I was about 14.
In a month I'm turning 17... 
AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER -
for as long as i can remember, ive always had an interest in electronic music or music with electronic elements. stuff from many different genres like Ministry - Halloween, Rammstein - Du Hast, Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams have intruiged me, but not enough to actually dive into electronic music, or "techno" as i called it at the time. until about a year ago, i thought that trance was all that ultra happy dj mystik shit the asian enthusiasts would play constantly. then all that changed when i was bored at home channel surfing and i came accross some latin channel that had dance dj's play every friday night. that night they had George Acosta spin for them and i remember him opening with Ayla - Angelfalls. after that, they played the video for Tiesto's Suburban (or was it Urban?) Train, and i was basically blown away. watching it a few other times, they had Markus Schulz and played videos for Armin's Yet Another Day and Tiesto's Lethal Industry. then i did a search for trance mp3s and happened to come accross this lovely site. thats my story.
and yes, im relatively a n00b to this music compared to the rest of you.
Probably since 95 or 96..
i could probably delve deeper to early 90s with C+C Music factory and Technotronic, but i really didnt start browsing electronic music till i picked up some Various Artist trance mix CDs Happy Rave 95, Mortal Kombat , Hackers soundtracks..
I just kept pushing my boundaries with every CD i bought, some CDs i consider ESSENTIAL now because they remind me of listening to it for the first time and realizing how much i love this stuff,

I'd say for me, around the mid 90's. First song I heard was Hallucinogen - LSD, and got really into Goa, then a few months later, heard songs like For Angel, Words, and Children and got more into the euphoric/epic trance, and I have been an addict ever since 
Before I was born my mom played Gloria Gaynor - I will survive and I could hear it in the womb. Therefore I've been in the scene longer than any of you... COMBINED
Seriously for about 3 years.... Occationally listened to it a couple of years before that also..

since freshman year of hs. now i'm a sophomore in college so about 6 years
since my cousin gave me a tape in 1994/5 with chalie says (prodigy) , the bouncer (kicks like a muel) and sweet harmony on it - became a little white gloved glowstick raver at that point - whistles and an aching jaw the morning after - got bored of hardcore in 2000 and have been into trance breaks and prog ever since
When the Freestylers - We Rock Hard CD came out, that got me into breaks. Then it turned into trance about 3 years ago.
Enjoyed electronic based music such as Jean Michel Jarre for as long as I can remember. During the 80's I listened to all kind of genre's really, electronic musik just being one part of many.
In the beginning of the 90's however I started getting seriously into electronic dance musik with artists such as KLF etc. Then in 92/93 I got hooked on trance in a big way after experiencing some underground rave parties. Since then I've never looked back
Around 1978 w/ YMO & Giorgio Moroder type stuff...it's what I grew up with.
When i was in highschool in late 90's, i listend to rock, grunge and punk. all of sudden i got an album of PRODIGY in 1998. The Fat of the Land!!! i thought this band was a hybird between rock and EDM. at that time I was really into the sound of prodigy's beats and techy elements. so i started voyage into the EDM world. Many cheesy things distracted me while i was searching for a real music.
But i finally found PVD, Tiesto, AVB and a lot more. after i went to Goa India in 2001, i m also a big fan of Goa-Psy Trance.
6 years. still trance addicted. hehe.
I was introduced to Electronic Music by a friend of mine who was playing an Orbital CD one day when I was hanging out. It was the song titled "Nothing Left" either 1 or 2. Doesn't really matter... but since I went out and bought "Middle of Nowhere" that very same day and got hooked. Then I began downloading various random Techno and Trance tracks off Napster including Acid Air Raid, which blew me away. Then I was began listening to Paul Oakenfold and ever since then I've been addicted.
Began my interest in electronic music since May of 1999 when I was introduced to Paul Oakenfold's GU02. I had been into Robert Miles before that, but after Oakey, it was his introduction to Tranceport that really got me interested in electronic music. Through Tranceport I was able to listen to the music of Paul van Dyk. I first saw PvD and his marathon soulful sets at Twilo-- I immediately felt a connection. After PvD's Radio Fritz shows and his wide-spanning love for music, my music horizons broadened as well. With Twilo and the New York club scene, I was introduced to Digweed and Dave Seaman and hence got into the Progressive House scene. I got a little into Drum & Bass, but I can't keep up with the beats on the dancefloor... My real love for electronic music still remains with Progressive Trance and the uplifting, otherworldly universal communication of melodic and positive music of all kinds, particularly classical, traditional Chinese, and electronic.

I started rockin the cheese classic EDM back in the early 90s, got out for a couple year, and came back when Oakey dropped Tranceport. I get really deep into trance and prog trance, and now I'm a lot more into house and tribal, and very picky with the trance I listen to.

everyone, please congratulate my boy Richard on his STELLAR debut headline two weeks ago tonight at System Soundbar in Toronto. He dropped a prog house set SO SICK that we were all in the emergency room afterwards

ages ago i bought my first cd.. dance tip 95, it had such classics as sash - equador <--LOL anyway then i went off music , then eminem came along and then around 2000 i bought a box set called the clubox and ever since then its been trance all the way

since 99 when I first saw Chicane ft. Maire Brennan - Saltwater on MTV
I got into some Industrial stuff that was on a Chicago radio show around 1995. It also had some other stuff like Prodigy and the like too. It went from there to Chem. Bros. and all kinds of other stuff too. I got into Trance around 99 or so and got more into it and Progressive around 2001.
I really got into electronica in the mid 90s with stuff like BKS and Prodigy... I didn't really consider MAKING the stuff until 2000, though, when I found out my friend Vince Parker was into experimental sounds.
I have been into dance music since the mid 90's, but it was mostly euro back then. it wasn't till about 98 or 99 that I got into trance and techno music. I think the cd that introduced me to it was Robert Miles's cd. I know it isn't the greatest cd but it is dream dance/trance music. I still like it today but mostly for this reason 
Trance was incorporated into my music selections during the Robert Miles era. For a while it was just the occasional CD between my rap and rock cds. It was just before I moved to Orlando that trance became my main tunes. Then I moved to Orlando where I became a fan of the infamous Florida Breaks. In 2001 I went to college and made friends with an MC. He introduced me to Jungle. I still listen to all this, but my preference is hardstyle.
