what's funny is that even in the elitist prick poss� a lot of people lack a basic fundamental knowledge of electronic dance music history in technical and sociocultural terms.

it saddens me to see people on TA that think they know it all but have no clue about Kraftwerk, Giorgio Moroder, Brian Eno, Afrika Bombataa, Grandmaster Flash, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, Derrick May etc. i think it's fundamental to know this if you want to speak about any kind of edm with any authority. anyone with a clue would also know what Maaz stated about the shared historic roots of all of these genres that exist nowadays.

there are only a few good panelectronicists here, but they surely do know their shit.

All I know is this: I live in a community where arguments between anyone debating prog vs trance vs techtrance vs hardtrance would get said participants LAUGHED AT!!! This is because a vast majority in the underground EDM scene think ALL those genres are shit and don't ever want to see them be successful. Many would much rather see ourselves bicker our favorite music to death.

In the grand scheme of things, we (in the US mostly) have more to worry about, like how trance/prog/etc are fairing against pop music and hip-hop, which rule all over around here.

To sum up, if we continue being all l33t and shit:
