at first i was against FS but after looking at the actual specs of it, i'm all for it. its not any easier to spin, you still need the tracks in high quality format and doesn't take away from the vinyl feel.

not any DJ will be getting final scratch, only the ones that afford it.

Give it some time, the price will drop eventually. Then I'm sure there will be sites that sprout that offer rips in AIFF format or whatever that you can download the songs without even having the vinyls/CDs.

Until broadband gets even faster, I don't see these huge AIFF and WAV files becoming the trading standard for music sharing... just me though.

How big could the files be? A couple hundred megs is not alot for broadband, sure it takes a little longer than your average MP3 but it's definitely possible.

From where I'm sitting, FS doesn't cost AS much as you guys think. If you can afford a pair of 1200s and a mixer you can afford FS. I was thinking of getting this, but than I would have to rip all my vinyl/cds onto WAV and keep it housed on my laptop...ugh such a pain, and have to agrree with Paul, mixing from MP3s is -- bleh -- low quality, but whatever just my taste in quality.

and the whole PvD german TECHNO dj --- yeaaaa nice magazine that's supposed to be knowledgeable in the EDM scene...morons.

I think FS is not bad as long as it is just an additional tool for djs. But replacing vinyl with mp3s is way too much for me. I cant bear watching a dj looking his laptops screen and browsing mp3s for 2 hours. A couple of traxx played by FS r ok but not more

Vinyl is an inseparable part of the culture of Dance music. It�s just not the same without.

Most people would be unable to tell the difference of a hi bit rate mp3 compared to a wav, viny etc..

A club system even a good one will have will not have the frequency range and all have a bias to the lows (bass) that over powers the highs and mids anyway and provided the dj has the levels on both tracks the same it would be hard to tell the difference...

That's not the point. Of course mp3s will be played in clubs (it is now even without Final Scratch), but my point was that since most DJs look down upon DJs who play mp3s out, the chance of it damaging the scene significantly is very small, even with Final Scratch in place.

i know Donald Glaude does, and he probably owns Zabiela. But, i like Zabiela non the less, lots of skills and he'll be better in a couple of years.

Drum n bass is a different story.

I'm still lost why there's people that hate FS with a passion. I mean, all PvD has done is eliminate the need to lug around his massive collection of vinyls. He's ripped them into a computer for easier storage, and the quality is exactly the same if not better. Hell, he even CONTROLS all of the song THROUGH the usage of vinyls. It's not like he's using a keyboard and mouse to DJ his way through. The only time he touches the mouse and keyboard is when he selects which tracks to play. From there, the mixing is done through the vinyls. Am I missing something here? Cuz I really don't think that I am. I've watched videos of him during livesets using Final Scratch. He's at the computer for about 15-20 seconds just picking his next song. And for the next several minutes, he's back at the decks. He spends the same amount of time on the computer that he would when searching through his vinyl collection looking for the next track to play.

In conclusion, he is not mixing mp3's. He's mixing AIFF's. He doesn't use FS because it's easier to mix. He uses it because he doesn't wanna get a hernia carrying around all of his vinyls.

so what? Paul van Dyk's music is still kool and at least he still does the gigs.....unlike the posser BT

For all who think that because PVD uses FSPro that he cannot spin as good must surely be kidding themselves. The guy is a world class DJ hint, hint, he knows a thing or two about spinning as much as any other quality DJ out there, just my guess
