oi, some of u people are so silly.

Thanks to those two who have volunteered to also judge!

As for those who mix with vinyl, there is a thread called BATTLE OF THE MIXERS, you can use vinyl/CDJs there and make a mix and compete there. This is for mp3 mixers only (mix with mp3s, not just save as an mp3).

Glad to see you competing too TVMann... as for whether or not its trance, just msg me on MSN mate, and I'll let you know.

YEs, TRANCE!! (oh im so dead.. i can't mix trance lately, lOL)

Posted by Shad0wmaster on Feb-20-2004 14:15:

It's a damn shame we're not allowed to mix non-trance music, otherwise I'd turn in a badass techno set...been really diggin that kind of tuneage lately

I hope a 59 min set is not a problem. I just recorded it.

Posted by vmc on Feb-22-2004 12:56:

Would it be ok to post the set as 128 kbps ogg file instead of mp3? Smaller file size and comparable or even better quality than 192 kbps mp3 file.

Posted by djsphere on Feb-22-2004 21:52:

Can we get the ftp infos?

Posted by mr_sick on Feb-23-2004 10:10:

Just back @ work after a hard weekend (Chris Liebing was mixin in my favourite belgian club this friday... )

59 min is ok for me

For the ogg, I think there would be no problem, but for the moment I'm not judging that one so ask the other judges

Well I was gonna compete but in listening to my recent trainwreck fiesta's, they are way more Progressive than Trance which ain't gonna fly (Pole Folder and Timo would be proud... sob... coz its a killer set too - at least I think so), So 'Comm, me ol' son, I would be honored to have the opportunity to rate your latest spree of fine trance and occasional wrecks if you are up for it?

Please count me in as a judge, I promise I'll behave, honest!

Phil

Yeah thats my style too... Everything from Private Taste to Cass / Lemon8 to Whitestripes and Rising Rhythm. Its got plenty of Trance style too, its just not at all Armin or Tiesto in nature. I'll post my mix later on this week when I get my PA speakers replaced.

Sweet Tracks to by the way! Will listen to it tonight.

Phil

Posted by vmc on Feb-24-2004 19:01:

Actually it's about saving some bandwidth. I have pretty slow transfers to the u/l server.

As long as you post a link to a small/easy to install or use plug-in then I'd be ok with it. I don't wanna load up UT to play an .ogg file. Have to hear from the other judges too I guess before you post and find yourself disqualified for not having it in appropriate format.

Yeah I'm with THC on this. Understand though this could work against you if the mix doesn't sound as good as a 160K MP3 mix. On the flip side if you get your mix done early and write it to CD, mail it to me and I'll upload a 160K MP3 to the FTP site for you, same goes to any competitor with a slow link!

128 kbps ogg is comparable to 192 kbps mp3 or even better IMO because there is much more bass and treble in the rip, which is hearable. If you have some spare time go to my website (the link is in my profile) and download my mix from there which is 128 kbps ogg so you'll see how the quality works.

THC: all versions of Winamp 2.8x or higher support ogg format.
