OMG, i had a kick ass weekend, it was weird too :|
a friend of mine from UK came to amsterdam for the weekend. him, a friend of mine here and i went to Kingdom Venue for the XL night (one of the biggest and best in amsterdam). last week they had Mark van Bekkum, Lucien Foort and Dazzle. kindom is such a nice club, pretty classy and pricey. the cover is 15 euro. rum and coke was 8, so i just stayed with water for the rest of the night, plus i didnt feel like getting wasted after drinking the night before.
mark van bekkum's set was good, he went from prog trance to prog house to trance and back to prog trance. he played very nice tracks. then lucien foort came on, he droped lots of house and club tracks. finally dazzle played the last 2 hours. dazzle's mixing wasnt all great but he droped excellent tunes, every single one was good. the very first track he played had some female vocals and sounded tiesto-ish, maybe some new track from black hole. dazzle also played quite a few marco v tracks, made me not be sad about missing marco v in vancouver so much 
towards the end there were many techy tunes.
at the club there were all kinds of people. old, young, gay, straight, hoochies, nearly naked hehe, but nearly everyone was dancing. i'd even take a guess and say that maybe over 80% of the people on the dance floor were moving and not just nodding their heads leaning against something. the atmosphere was awesome. dont know how the club was designed but even though there were many people inside, it wasnt too hot. the club itself fits about 1200 people i think, and it was almost full, so a huge turn out and its like this every weekend. one of my friends and i danced like maniacs nearly non stop, for 5 hours. she has a lot of energy, and i took a stacker so wasnt tired a bit, except my feet hurt like crazy, could barely walk home.
the crazy thing that happened was that i was approached by this guy and he asked me if i was from vancouver 
i was like wtf? how did you know? turns out he's winston (mc hammered on TA) and he recognized me from the armin show cause i was holding a huge ass sign lol and then i eventually remembered seeing this guy at some parties in vancouver. he's an asian guy with blue hair, some of you may have seen him around. really cool guy, but it was difficult to talk inside cause of the music. he left back for vancouver on sunday, but im definately looking forward to seeing him when i go back home.
yesterday's recovery was bad, still is lol the whole day i felt like i was stoned, my whole body is still aching and ive been eating a lot since yesterday morning, probably cause of the stacker. that stuff is great. im gonna buy some this week. it's getting banned in holland in april. it doesnt seem to have any terrible after effects like E does.
another awesome thing, is armin is holding ASOT in the center of amsterdam this thursday, at the dam square and just like by magic, i dont have a class this thursday, so my friend and i are gonna be making our way to check out armin's hot ass 
I often check the local happenings on FnK.ca (a great time-burner) and MC Hammered (Winston) is on a lot. He was in Switzerland skiing. He has a nice big FTP server and hosts many local & badroom DJ mixes. Including my house mix and the Dance Valley video.
Any webcams in those clubs? Tell us when you will be near one.
BTW the Insomnia event where Marco V was at, apparently had major sound problems, the "Masterplan" technicians hooked up a lot of equipment wrong, including Marco V's, they had his monitors somehow connected to the main speakers which they should not be, and he was often turning off his monitors as is standard DJ procedure, which turned off some main speakers so people could not hear.

That's a cool story Elena...what exactly is a stacker? Never heard of it before. I can't believe you're getting to see Armin do ASOT live, I'm sooooo jealous

adam, i already saw armin do ASOT live last august it was a cool experience.
a stacker is basically a diet/energy pill that speeds up metabolism, also gives you lots of energy so you dont feel tired. many athletes use them. lasts about eight hours. traditionally, stackers had ephedra in them, there are many versions that a ephedra free now. ephedra is considered a dangerous herbal substance, can give you a heart attack or something of the sort. basically its probably as bad for you as any other illegal drug. also in stackers are caffein and aspirin.
I got back in town last night and I when I pop online I already see that word of the craziests of meetings already made its way onto the net on FNK.ca and TA.
I must admit that finding my way to the XL clubnight was an adventure on its own and I almost gave up trying to make it there. I didn't know up from down and got off the metro 15 blocks away and had to wander around forever. It was good to bump into a fellow TA halfway around the world as I was seriously missing home.
I gotta try one of those stackers as Elena DID NOT STOP moving for more than 5 minutes the 4 hours I was there. I just assumed she was juiced up on sugar or something.
After I left the club the adventure still did not end as I got delayed at check in and missed my flight home as the gate closed. So I got stranded for another day and had to pay a nice chunk of $$$ to fly Monday. If I knew this was going to happen I would have stayed until the end on Saturday night. 
Elena, I don't know if you have high speed internet access where you are, but if you ever need choons let me know and I'll get you onto my ftp servers. It has over 200Gb of music and is growing every day.

saw armin last night do ASOT at the deparment store in amsterdam
think if i did let myself drool for real, there wouldve been a river there. the set was broadcasted during the first hour of ASOT so you guys can download that and listen to it.
i took some pictures. have this awesome one on my phone as wallpaper, armin has his arms up in the air, looks great. armin also signed my phone hehe. other than that, think thats it. he still smiles pretty much non stop.
ohoh i've got a dirty gossip on armin. he's losing hair so he had to change his hair style, doesnt spike it anymore, just combs it forward.

and so it is the time to write another update on how things have been with me here in amsterdam. april was an exciting month. a very good friend of mine came to visit me. made my stay here much more fun and enjoyable, no more being bored all by myself
my friend brought me a PC tower so i had a computer for two weeks... then my friend accidentally kicked it and broke it heh, back to being computerless 
april was a happening month. went to movies quite a bit, went to south of holland, went horse back riding, sorta, not really, my horse wasnt listening to me cause i didnt want to be harsh to her so i ended up not going for the ride. went to efteling, its an amusement park, kind of like disney, it won the world best amusement park award last year, nice place. went to madam tussauds, the wax museum here in amsterdam. after i did, i dont feel so short anymore turns out kylie minogue in stilletos is about the same height as i am, go figure. the wax sculptures were really awesome tho, almost looked real. my friend and i got a picture taken with james bond pierce brosnan). saw the celebration of the queen in holland, queen's day.
there was an insane amount of people in all of the center of msterdam,
which is rather large, spans to about 45 minute walk across on a not crowded day. bought a bike so i now bike around pretty much everywhere, hopefully i wont kill myself anytime soon (one of my friends' bike's breaks broke as he was going down a bridge, he couldnt stop so hit a wall, bruised up his eye and side of the face. my other friend drove into a tramway track last week, fell, scraped her knee.) i also spent a lot of money, way past my budget, hope my dad will be nice and transfer me some money in june all donations are also welcome
well, think this is about it. less than two months to go. i almost changed my ticket to come back home at the end of this month, but i guess i'll tought it out till july. the weather has been shit lately.
i've got about a month left here so if any of you DJs have any requests for records that are either out or will be coming out in june, send me a pm or post it here, i'll see what i can do. also if you guys are ordering anything from europe and the shipping is high to canada, you can send your orders to me and i'll bring them over. just let me know.

Comissad & myself were in the TA MP3 competition.
There have been violent incidents outside many Vancouver clubs including Purple Onion & Sonar. Even in my town a buddy got rolled & robbed at a club (thugs in jail now).

i'm planning on going to see armin, markus schulz and perry o'neil in june. actually its a toss up between that or a hip hop event with missy elliott, sean paul, kelis and dmx. but we'll see i guess. when i'm gone. july 2nd is a trance.nu event, then sensation black and white. but its all good. going to belgium this weekend, party at their clubs, have fun.

See if you figure out when in Belgium why lots of the music from there seems a little on the cheezy side (not necessarily a bad thing IMO). That's how it looked in the music videos a year or 2 ago anyway. Or maybe the music is the same as other places but they were just better at getting their tunes and videos distributed over here.
