Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
This was planning to come, ... I mean, .. Above & Beyond made a remix of Motorcycle's ATRC so ofcourse Gabriel & Dresden made a remix of the new Above & Beyond
I only heard a sample of it, and I really liked it straight away
I can't wait till it gets released, which is in March is it not?

+1 is all i have to say about that
How did Above & Beyond get labelled as cheese and G&D as pop?
What world am I in?
I have loved their productions since I started, and still loving it till this day, keep up the NEVER-ENDING VOCALS!!!
On another note, can't wait for the official release of this track, would be a GREAT addition in my next mix.
Nice new track by both artists, I didn't care for Far From Love at all, but this new cut is quite tasty.
As for all the excitement: People need to get a fucking grip. I'm glad that I've grown beyond being into music only for it's 'cool factor' and I can safely listen to both G&D and Above and Beyond without feeling like a 'sell out'.
If you don't like it, don't go to hear it at a club, and don't buy it, simple as that. Some of us like to listen to a variety of tunes (not to mention genres), and could care less if some of the 'true representatives of the underground' think it's good enough or not.
Word up to that!!

The same people that months ago say "I love ATRC" next month say "G&D are pop crap". Oh my god people outside of the underground like them, that means they sold out and now suck. When in fact the more succesful someone becomes really means that more people can appreciate their talent. I had a discussion with Dave about this at a bar last weekend before he played at Vision. He thinks it is funny too, how people just switch their opinions with whatever is cool to say. Anyway, just wanted to do a little thinking out loud. I heard Dave drop this in Chicago Saturday and it sounded pretty good, need to get a hold of this and listen again to see if it still sounds good, or if I was just pumped that night from hearing some good tracks from G&D and Holden. |
Idid not label you personally as cool, first off. I was making a general comment about all the people on this board (and you included this time because you made the comment before you heard) that just post dumb comments and everyone else jumps on the bandwagon. If you have an opinion about a particular song okay, thats fine. if you have not heard a song or are one of those people jumping on the bandwagon to bash G&D or whoever it is cool to bash on at the time that is just dumb. Make your own opinions, have your own tastes, dont care what everyone else thinks, and enjoy the music you like.(not particularly aimed at you, but everyone)
I tried looking on my slsk for it and couldn't find it

I hate these flame wars but I ned to make this comment. Superfarstucker said that this song had basically shitty lyrics. I disagree because all these trnce songs have very similar lyics and they are not that great. I believe this track is allright at best, not their best remix but I like it nonetheless. Songs in any genre these days are not lyrically dense. Case in point, a top track these days is Kelis- milshake, or Ying Yang twins- salt shaker. Both of these songs lryically are beyond shit....but people love the beat and just cling to it.
The only point I am making in my ramblings is that you should have an opinion on what YOU like and not get on the hate bandwagon. I give G&D a lot of props because they are inovators. They have put out sooooooo many remixes and original tracks in so short of a time it is amazing. Some are excelent, some are okay, who else is pumping out music like them? I dont know anyone else. That is why I respect them. Also, they are both still down to earth nice guys that realize where they came from and still have time for their fans and that is respectable. enough babling.
peace,
matt
Point definitely made on the average lyrical depth in dance songs, what are people expecting? Greek philosophy?
I also have major respect for G&D, a good 1/3 of their remixes are fantastic, which is more than I can say for most producers!
I'll be interested to see 3 or so years down the road when everyone is slagging Luke Chable for putting out another 'cookie cutter' remix...it seems no one is allowed to have major, long term success without being attacked at some point...a shame people can't just enjoy what they like and let others do the same.
I am sure everyone knows whose posts have nothing good coming out from it except flames, critism, bitterness and nothing constructive.
Some of them doesn't produce nor dj and likes to talk big. Hence deserve 0 respect and their posts and replies are just meant to be smiled with a shake of our head and proceed to a constructive post.
Well, they could've done something other than "down through the dark trees".
"Trees" just don't fit the voice at all. Just saying they could've used a better word (or phrase) to fit the voice more appropriately.
Dont analyze the lyrics and say the track sucks because they could of useda different word or phrase. Just about none of these trance tracks has Shakespearian type poetry lyrics. They are are realistically kind of cheesy and similar. I understand that, like them, and dont analyze there lyrical consistency. I just know the beat, the voice, and the production sound good.
word.

| originally posted by SuperFarStucker The key difference between Kelis - milkshake and "no one on earth" being that one attempts to come off as serious and the other takes on a more free-wheeling aesthetic. In other words, the lyrical depth of milkshake fits the track itself and no one on earth's does not. Good lyrics don't have to be "greek philosphy" they simply need possess some dynamics and character. Radiohead, Tool, Pink Floyd, U2, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin... Dance tracks like freeland's "supernatural thing" or Jam & Spoon's "Stella" (to name very few) work with their lyrics instead of trying to act like they are some sort of grandoise testament to the will of desire. If you fail to see the difference.... lets just say "DJ Sammy" heaven is up your alley... |

very weak effort by the duo..

And then you say if i fail to see the difference in the Above and Beyond tracks lyrics compared to that of those famous tunes than Heaven is up my alley. It is funny because Heaven is a Bryan Adams original that was a top 40 classic that possesed that dynamics and character you were talking about. Later it was remade by that cheese producer DJ Sammy, but this discussion was about my knowing of quality lyrics. Thanks for making yourself look foolish by trying to cut me down with a track that contadicts the point you were trying to make in the first place. Son, you got owned |
No, you attacked my judgement of lyrics and then contradicted yourself. Anyways, I was had to comment about the hilarity of your attemted cut down. I am not trying to start a flame war, everyone has there own opinion. I think the track is allright, by far not there greatest work (Niether A&B or G&D) but not total crap.

Never mind man, this is a real dumb arguement. Lets just say we are are both right and we both win, blah, blah. I just think this is stupid to argue about. Neither of us even likes the track very much and we seem to not be seeing each others sides, so lets just quit.
peace
