To me Digweed is anything BUT emotional, Ferry on the other hand...

Diggers is an aquired taste. It takes time to appreciate his style which IMO is not meant for a club atmosphere.

Exactly what I feel !!

to each their own i guess.

woudl you equate the way ferry makes yo ufeel to the way PVD makes you feel? (i'm just curious)

Well, PVD is obviously better. I never even said that Ferry is good in this thread. But to me the music he plays is better than Digweed's music. I'm not discussing technical abilities, etc here.

I know that. I am not talking about mixing. i know your taste falls into the category of trance/tech-trance and not progressive. I like ferry fine, but i find that his sets aren't programed in a manner that makes me feel any emotional connection w/ his sets, whereas w/ PVD I do. So I was just curious as to if ferry does that for you, more to understand where you are coming from.

I am generalizing, but for many progressive fans, Digweed is like progressive's PVD.

lol.. i dun think anyone's listening man ..

gonna quarrel till the END of the time!

Posted by Kytracid on Feb-16-2004 19:37:

Not sure if this qualifies as a quarrel, because at the end of the day people should feel confident in voicing their opinions. Personally, i don't mind threads that approach a heated topic of discussion in a civil and more importantly objective manner.

Discourse on subjects that are likely to inflame passions is sometimes avoided because people tend to personalize matters . But as long as the topic is discussed in an adult manner, i don't see why two parties with opposing views can't walk away feeling like they have managed to get their point across.

Be that as it may, i think the thread's life is definately nearing an end. I guess at the end of the day both camps, progressive and trance will have something to smile about at the event, and ultimately we should all find joy in that.

I think seperating both DJ's in this case is very good step on the part of the Guv crew. Having either Digweed spin after or before Ferry would have been a mistake, one which i have a feeling would have given rise to more ill feelings. This way, both the prog heads and the trancers will get what they want, making the reviews of this party an intersting read.

i think everyone just wants everyone to give the opposing dj a chance... so everyone will have a good dose of both to say who they like better. i like both but for different reasons. i am just excited they are comming.

the only thing i don't like about the split is not being able to see my trance friends

Posted by Kytracid on Feb-16-2004 19:49:

I feel you charmscars, and it would have been nice if the Guv had made the event open access, but i guess that's just asking for too much. Perhaps the test of friendship might just be the wristband...or choosing a genre and sticking with it for a night type of deal.

Prog this week, Trance the next...

Posted by Flec on Feb-17-2004 00:17:

i really dont understand how "the dj plays the same shit every time" or "the dj hasnt evolved" etc... argument is valid

unless youve seen the dj 5-10+ times, is it really that bad if they play similer style stuff?

chances are anyone whose seen a dj enough times to be able to say they havent evolved has seen them so many times because they are inlove with him

and as for the whole prog vs trance flame war, let me start

prog = masturbating without blowing your load, WORST EVER

FUCK PROG

A poignant and well thought out argument, which unlike everything else in this thread is very 'valid'. Kudos.

With "Digital Punk" playing in the background...hehe, now that i would get a wristband to see.

excessive smilies usage will undoubtedly result in this thread degenerating into an endless stream of mindless drivel....whoopsss too late.
