well i would have, bcuz i dont fuk around wit bouncers. but the way they approached me wasnt just right. he grabbed me nad just pushed me away. but neways i know wat to next time, this was just a lesson i guess. also i dont undersatnd which fukn dumbass would wanan go up to ferry corten to request dr. dre, thats just stupidity.

Weird night at the Guv, that's for sure...Kid Vicious was great and Ferry was totally amazing...It was just too crowded, so I couldn't move which made me a bit paranoid...I was even dancing outside at -5, and I think I'm gonna get seriously sick now...The good part of the night was that I met bunch of you guys and I just LOVED all of you..

I will go to bed now, finally!!!!

LOL I really do not understand why everyone thought Ferry was good. Compared to recent Toronto sets by PVD, Infected Mushroom, Armin etc, Ferry's set was absolutely brutal.

Sure there were a few great tracks that put a smile on my face and made me dance like a crazy f&ck, but damn, he shouldn't play 8 hours if he only has enough good material for 3.

Ilya, I think u just could not get into it b/c of the crowd, and he played much better after you left. The sound was also terrible - that did not help either.

Well, screw that.. I missed 2 hours out of 8 an hour set. If he only played well during those 2 hours, well, that just confirms that he isn't a great DJ. A good DJ is supposed to play well throughout, and not just during 25% of his set.

I can guarantee you, if he continues like that he'll be out of top 10 in no time !

what's up with you and your unhappiness about the 2 h2our2s2 you only s2taye2d2 for2 his set??

have a better time next time and where exactly were you - I never saw you....

Posted by tatgirl on Mar-15-2004 12:43:

Ilyia- really shocked to hear u claim that was the 'worst headliner ever' for you. Its not like he was trainwrecking or playing Dr. Dre tunes. I think u woulda enjoyed it more if you had more room to dance. I've had horrible times in crowded places when everyone else said the set was amazing. Things distract you. Personally, I'm happier to hear newer releases & I like the electro sound.

Some other tracks he dropped that nite were:
Sosei- Airscape (TUNE!!!)
Spirits- Modulations (Beatpusher rmx)
Conscious- Kai Tracid (Corsten rmx)

For me, the night was an absolute success!!! First of all, I was driven to the club in a LIMO. It was my first time being in one, so I had a wicked time (props to Mike for that). Then we got in, able to grab a couple drinks, then I went upstairs and somehow easily got my way into the DJ area. I had a new production Ferry was waiting to hear, so (BEST PART OF ALL)... I was able to personally give him the new track and got a chance to breifly talk to him about it! What can I say .. HELL of a nice guy! So I stood up in the booth for a few minutes watching the happy (but squished) people below. Definetly the coolest thing I've ever done at Guv!

As for the crowd... exactly as I expected. Still frustrating that there's never any place to dance at a DANCE club... but this is the standard for Guv these days... you go for the DJ/music.. and not to dance.

I ended up hanging out upstairs for a while and listened to Manzone and Strong... brilliant set! Much different than when I saw them at 33 Degrees on Wednesday! I really enjoyed a more progressive style. The crowd seemed to really love it too. And, we were jammed in there like cattle either.

Regardless, the night was successful imo. I had a great time and had the chance to meet one of my mentors.

PEACE

hmm i almost broke down and went up for this event after seeing Sasha n Digweed at CROBAR NYC, considering that it was my bday sunday but after hearing about the massive crowd inside the Guverment, now im kinda glad that i didnt...altho i am SERIOUSLY missing Ferry -- i havent heard him spin since Labour of Love September 2003 and i had to leave early cuz my frns werent feeling it...

Posted by omid on Mar-15-2004 13:54:

it was okay to me.but yeah too damn busy.u couldn't even move man.what i hated the most was ppl who were crossing from one end of club to the other end.but it was okay but could be better. the funnist thing was the way i got in.i was stoned out of my mind and i just went to the guest list line and i asked the girl how many ppl are in there and she said i have no idea so the guy on the left that was checking the ids thought she approved so he just checked my id and let me in and i'm like yeah that guy is with me so he let my friend in 2.hahaha.man i was so lucky.

I second that...had a great time, crowd was jumping, looking down from the "catwalk" by the entrance to the drink we had an amazing view and everyone seemed to be having an excellent time...

P.S.
I loved when Ferry got on the mike and said "Toronto you rock...rock your body rock..." hehehe

I've looked through all the feedback here and had an impression that there are more negative experience. I wish the night would be so much better for you guys.
Bottom line, I'm glad I didn't go...

Posted by Pett on Mar-15-2004 16:33:

Hey if it wasn't packed then there wouldn't still have been a huge crowd at 8:30 and ferry would have packed it up early, got to look on the bright side and troop it out.....those of us that stayed late were rewarded.

Posted by Irish Graham on Mar-15-2004 17:17:

thats the spirit!! maybe some people would prefer if he didnt come at all??

Thumbs up

In LA! Listened to Ferry the whole way down and I even have Ferry blasting this morning as I get ready to go down to Venice Beach!

Saturday night was easily the best Ferry night EVER - and I don't think it will be topped - EVER.

God I'm glad I was there.

I think we take the Guvt. for granted, to tell you the truth. I was lucky enough to hit Miami for WMC last week, and the "world class clubs" in that city suck compared to what we have here in TO.

The over-hyped Space was overcrowded beyond anything I have ever seen at GUV. The sound sucked so bad it was hard to recognize songs (honestly) and the space itself lacked any character and was pretty claustrophobic.

I'll trade the Guv for almost any club I've ever been to any day for talent, comfort, consistency, and general all round coolness. I think Charles and his team do a pretty good job running the complex relatively well week after week. (think how many flash-in-the-pan clubs have opened - and closed - in the time the Guv has been around and I think you'll have to agree that it's not just luck they're still the biggest player in the country's biggest city.

Uhm... no I don't work for them. I just like to party there.

Sound System @ Guv

By the way. For those complaining about the sound system,,
Sandra Collins??? (or maybe some other dj) blew out a few speakers when she was spining.

Im sure they are working on it.

Posted by Special K on Mar-15-2004 19:40:

sandra hasnt spun there in over a year...

Behold, my arse. TOTALLY sucked

My pal Andrew & I got there at 10:30 and ended up leaving at 1am...YEP thats 1 in the A fucking M....I could NOT take the stupid smoke machine being pumped in an already WAY overcrowded venue...I am actually very sick from that night & I have to see my doctor later because I'm sure I have Bronchitus now and my head is ready to explode of congestion...luckily I didn't have to wait too long to get my coat 'cause I was dyin'...I think I caught a half hour of Ferry's set and he's one of my fave DJs...I hope to GOD that if he comes back to Toronto that he spins at a better venue and NOT the money hoarding Guv venue...

the ONLY great thing about that nite was seein my fellow TAs and my pals DJ Moby, Kurt et al....

I rate this party an overwheling 2 thumbs down

Robby

really? wow? i thought the clubs down there were rockin (i liked them alot more than the clubs down here)...

i thought space had an amazing system too (i know they upgraded from a phazon a week before wmc too)...even up on the terrace (sounded 10X better than skybar), and they even had lighting/cryo up there too...i looooooooove cryo hehehe

crobar had a really good system too...

is there anything like nikki beach/opium garden in TO? errrrrm dont think so...

even state (for the lights out party) had a rocking system

after boa, i cant think of another club in Toronto with as good a soundsystem as some of the places I went to down there had...

my 0.07 cents!

Help me understand how

anyone enjoyed themselves when the main room was as packed as it was... It was f*cking ridiculous, not all the drugs in the world could made my night more enjoyable, there was nowhere to go main room, it was a sea of people shoulder to shoulder... Sure, Ferry is god, and I loved every track he played, BUT, as good as he was, how can you enjoy it when you can't even dance?????????????? I agree with whoever says it should have been an all access night... totally turns me off of going in the future.. I'm guessing they were letting people into the main room from KH but not letting anyone into the KH from Guv, and so people were just flowing into the main room... IT WAS F*CKED UP, not to mention all those shirtless "I think I'm huge" juice monkeys, you think girls like that sh*t... HELLSSSS NO!!!
